Iconic Brands That No Longer Exist

GeoCities

Before WordPress or Wix took over the web hosting market, GeoCities reigned supreme for years. It was originally founded in 1994, and by 1999 it was the third most visited website on the internet. Soon after the company was purchased by Yahoo! for $3.57 billion, though this would mark the beginning of the end for them.

GeoCities

Just two years after the company was failing to turn a profit, and operated at an $8 million loss by the end of the year. Though Yahoo! attempted to implement several changes to increase profitability, but none panned out. By 2009, GeoCities was added to a growing list of outmoded services offered by Yahoo!, though it still had 38 million active users.
