Funny And Surprising 1-Star Reviews
We’ve all had a bad night’s sleep on an uncomfortable bed, a chewy plate of pasta from a bog-standard restaurant, a disappointing package that arrived at our doorstep with little resemblance to its image online, or a movie that came highly recommended but turned out to be an absolute dud. These everyday mishaps happen to the best of us. While most of us soldier on, these one-star reviews take our complaints to a whole new level. For some, a negative review is a matter of opinion, but for others, it’s an undeniable reality. Lets just hope some of these one-star reviews stretch far enough to save other folks from going through the same ordeal!
It’s Not An Animal Crossing
Sometimes, things can get lost in translation. Some sentences have a double meaning, and that can lead to some hilarious mix-ups. Picture this: there’s this adventurous soul who’s all excited to see Zebras in London. Where do they head? The pedestrian crossing at Abbey Road, thinking it’s a Zebra hotspot. Little do they know London Zoo is in the opposite direction!
Turns out, the “Zebras” weren’t the black-and-white-striped animals but the famous zebra-crossing featured on The Beatles’ album cover. It’s a funny reminder that language and places can throw us a curveball, even in a vibrant city like London. These little mix-ups make our journeys all the more entertaining, and we can’t help but share the laughs!
Get This Dude Some Tenders
Some one star reviews are valid, some are just the ramblings of someone with a lot going on. For this guy, that might just be the case. Not only have his chicken tenders disappeared from the menu, so did his parents when he was younger. So, losing the chicken hit him like a ton of bricks, and the poor restaurant got caught in the crossfire.
Maybe this guy deserves a bit of empathy, and it looks like the restaurant staff felt the same way. Perhaps it’s because he’s been a loyal customer all along. Life’s full of twists and turns, and sometimes, we all need a little understanding, even if it’s over chicken tenders. At least the steak was nice.
A Bit On The Nose
Every hometown has its iconic attractions, right? In Paris there’s the Eiffel Tower, in London there’s the Big Ben, and in New York there’s the Empire State Building. But, you know, sometimes, life just gets in the way, and even if you’re living right next to these famous spots, you might not get to visit them. For this Amsterdam resident, Anne Frank’s house is not necessarily an attraction but a must-see.
Unfortunately, upon arrival, this person didn’t have the best time. Waiting to get in, walking in a straight line, and feeling a tad claustrophobic – it’s like a textbook definition of irony, isn’t it? We won’t get into the nitty-gritty here; some things are just better left unsaid!
This Isn’t Part Of The Job Description
Being a waitress comes with its own set of requirements, right? You must have patience, people skills, and the ability to balance a tray full of food and drinks without a hiccup. But here’s the kicker: accepting unsolicited advances from male customers is definitely not on the list. Especially when said customer, feeling miffed after being turned down, decides to give the establishment a one-star review.
We’re all crossing our fingers and hoping that this guy’s less-than-satisfactory experience keeps him miles away from ever showing up again. It’s a reminder that respect and understanding should be on the menu for everyone, and one-star reviews like these are best served with a side of pie!
It’s Not What It Cracked Up To Be
There’s nothing more satisfying than a smooth pat down after a hot relaxing shower. But these towels tell a different story. There must be something wrong with this purchase. Either they are the worst towels in the world or they aren’t towels after all. From the looks of it, the latter is more likely. Come on, towels are supposed to be masters of non-shedding.
You can even find lint-free towels online, let alone ones that practically disintegrate into pure lint. This review might be on point, but it also makes you wonder about the wisdom of the customer who purchased these in the first place.
At One With Nature
Hiking up a mountain is quite an experience, right? The stunning views, the beautiful nature – it’s something special. But for this guy, what he remembers most is what he didn’t find at the top. He wanted a fancy bathroom, a cold beer, and a great meal, but nope, this mountain had just the view and the accomplishment of reaching the top.
And the hike itself? Well, according to him, it was tough. The mountain was just too high, too steep, and too cloudy. It’s a bit puzzling because, really, what did he expect from a mountain hike? It’s supposed to be a challenging adventure, and his one-star review seems as tough as the hike itself!
Hakuna Matata
“The Lion King” is famous for its animated, song-filled adventures across the savannah. But let’s be real, it’s all fiction – we mean, it’s a cartoon, for goodness sake. If you’re in the mood for something more authentic, David Attenborough’s the way to go. This guy does have a point – animals don’t really talk or burst into song in the wild.
Thanks to this critic, we’re reminded that fiction could do with a dose of reality. But, let’s face it, a warthog belting out “Hakuna Matata” might not be the most accurate portrayal of the animal kingdom, but it sure makes for a more entertaining story than just predators hunting their prey for two hours, doesn’t it?
Three Hours You’ll Never Get Back
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, especially when it comes to watching movies. ‘Boyhood’ wasn’t this fans favorite. And who can blame them, when the movie is three hours long. They might just be trying to save you from spending three hours of your life that you’ll never get back.
Whether that one-star rating is justified, well, that’s up for debate. After all, “Boyhood” snagged its fair share of awards during that season. So, maybe it’s a good idea to gather a range of opinions before deciding if it’s worth your time to watch it.
Cheeky Or Downright Absurd
You know, there’s nothing like a romantic meal to unwind after a long, exhausting week. A chance to sit down with your special someone, enjoy some good food, and savor a nice glass of wine. But what a buzzkill it is when your evening is rudely interrupted by a terrible employee who actually goes ahead and spits on a customer. It’s almost like this one-star review is being too kind to the employee.
“Cheeky” seems like a pretty generous term for that kind of behavior, right? We guess that sometimes, romance is dead. And considering that the value for money, atmosphere, and food also got a one-star rating, it’s safe to say this couple won’t be revisiting that place anytime soon.
Ice Cream Anyone?
Picture this: you’re peacefully sitting in a restaurant, enjoying your meal, when an ice cream truck casually rolls by. Suddenly, like a scene from a movie, the entire waiting staff rushes out of the building. There you are, left to fend for yourself, looking at the scraps on your plate and wondering where on Earth everyone disappeared to.
What makes this whole situation even more absurd is that they all return ten minutes later, each with an ice cream cone in hand, and not a single one for the poor customer they left behind. After all, ice cream is delightful, but surely it’s not worth the impending one-star reviews that are bound to start pouring in!
Parental Guidance Advised
There’s something about a story told with intricate detail, and in this case, the story is a one-star review that certainly leaves no stone unturned. We can’t help but wonder if there’s a way to put a disclaimer on a one-star review because, let us tell you, this one is not for the faint of heart.
The critic uses a rather intense analogy, comparing the burger on their plate to a bloodied face from a motorcycle crash. It’s pretty graphic, but we can’t deny that we understand exactly what they mean. The mental image is so vivid that we can almost feel sorry for ourselves without even taking a bite.
Sarcasm At Its Finest
Being a professional medium, you’d think they’d be used to dealing with all sorts of energies, right? But for this self-proclaimed medium, the most intense vibes came from an entirely unexpected source – the receptionist at the front desk. The review they left was just as sarcastic as it was witty.
It’s safe to say that Monica, the receptionist, probably had no clue she was about to get hit with such a great dose of humor in the form of this one-star review! Well, you know, maybe the pure humor in that review was just what the doctor ordered to combat Monica’s dark energy!
As Red As A Tomato
This mom seems to be in a league of her own. Her one-star review really tells the whole story. Seriously, not only did she step way over the line by trying to set her daughter up on a date with the waiter, but when he declined and asked her to leave him a tip, she flat-out refused.
And if that weren’t enough, she went all the way to the manager to threaten the poor guy’s job, all in the name of seeking justice for her daughter’s rejection. Honestly, it might be her mom causing the embarrassment, rather than the dashing waiter who’s just trying to do his job and get on with his day!
Free Advertising Doesn’t Mean Free Food
Even though the food was top-notch, this mediocre influencer decided to give this establishment a one star review because they didn’t give her a discount. In her own words, the food was delicious, but clearly not as delicious as the prospect of getting it for free. Calling the management cheap? Maybe take a look in the mirror, ’cause this customer sure seems to have some budget constraints too!
This influencer’s expectation of special treatment and self-entitlement hit an all-time high. She seemed to think she should be held to a different standard, but she couldn’t have been more mistaken. Kudos to the staff for not caving in, even in the face of that one-star review!
The Wine Went To His Head
This one-star review is quite the head-scratcher, it’s either meant as a joke or, well, it’s just plain silly. You know how some folks tend to take things way too literally? “Martha’s Vineyard” definitely doesn’t mean you’ll meet a woman named Martha ready to give you a tour of orchards. That’s like walking into Wendy’s and being disappointed because you didn’t run into someone named Wendy!
We can’t help but shake our heads and wonder, does he even hear himself? Let’s hope that regular vineyard-goers don’t fall into the same misunderstanding, but honestly, who else could possibly make that kind of mistake? We hope Martha walks away from this one-star review unscathed.
An Absolute Hotel Nightmare
We’ve all taken a gamble with a budget hotel at least once in our lives. After all, vacations are expensive as is, there’s no reason not to take a chance with low-cost accommodations if we’re looking to stay within our budget, right? Well, you might think twice before booking that 1-star hotel after reading this shocking review!
This user clearly wasn’t going to mince words, they put the most shocking sentence as the headline of their review! Honestly, you don’t even have to read the rest to avoid this dump of a hotel, but it definitely gets worse the more you read. We hope this poor guest made it out without any long-term diseases!
Date Night Ruined By A Dead Bug
Ah, a date night with your hubby. The kids are with a babysitter and you can enjoy your spouse’s company for the night without any interruptions. Just order your favorite cocktail and get to rekindling your romance. But wait, what’s that? A dead cockroach has come to spoil your entire night! Perhaps this was one of the bar’s special mixes…
We understand that bars tend to be dimly lit, but we can’t imagine any lighting bad enough to overlook a deceased bug in a drink! Or even a live one for that matter. Whoever served them seriously needs to get their eyes checked, after they’re fired of course. Everybody makes mistakes, but this is a serious case of negligence on the bartender’s part!
Revenge With A Review
This person obviously had a pretty horrible hotel experience. Mold is a pretty common problem in many buildings and apartments, but vigilant and responsible building managers should be able to take care of it swiftly. Those who don’t care about their guests’ safety will let it fester and worry about it when someone complains. Although in this case it seems like the staff couldn’t care less!
Luckily it looks like this 1-star review will help them exact revenge on this careless and rude hotel! We’ve never heard of such a policy, but if this will help them get a refund then more power to them. We can only imagine how much these shoddy accommodations affect the big day of this reviewer’s newlywed friends.
Sarah Doesn’t Know How Time Works
Some one-star reviewers are totally warranted, but others seem to be made by entitled folks who can’t comprehend the idea of a shop needing to close. Sarah L. seems to think she should be able to shop even after the employees have clocked out for the day. The world doesn’t revolve around you, girl!
Newsflash to anyone who needs it: if you show up after closing, the store employees have no obligation to stay open for you! Next time show up earlier and make sure you can get your shopping done before the registers are locked for the evening. And if you don’t, avoid leaving a review like this, it just makes you look silly.
Paying By The Hour
Certain hotels aren’t necessarily intended for guests to stay multiple nights if you get our drift. Let’s just say that if you’re paying by the hour you’re not in your standard hotel. This reviewer learned that lesson the hard way. Whether she was in a smaller city or in a shady part of town, she found herself staying overnight in a brothel!
We don’t blame her for not getting any sleep under those conditions. It just goes to show that it’s worth reading reviews and doing a little research before checking in for the night. If you want to avoid an experience like this, you better do your homework!
One Star Too Many
Typically when you want to book a vacation you want to stay in the bustling part of town where all the action is. After all, no one wants to have to commute too much to see all the city’s best sights. But don’t be fooled, just because a hotel is in a good location doesn’t mean it’s going to be up to snuff.
This poor traveler had to deal with one of the worst things you can find in any building, black mold! To top it all off, they found a used condom in their room! That’s a surefire way to know that a hotel has absolutely no cleaning staff!
How Long Do You Think 63 Sandwiches Take To Make?
If you’ve never had to work in customer service, consider yourself lucky. Sure not every customer you deal with will be unreasonable and stubborn, but a good handful of them will be. Take the one-star review below as an example. Can you imagine being THAT angry about your 63 sandwich order taking over an hour? How long does this person think it takes to make that many sandwiches?!
Given that this was a last-minute resort, we’re guessing this reviewer didn’t call in advance to let the Subway employees know they were about to get a gargantuan order. Honestly, major kudos to them for even accepting the order in the first place and not laughing in their face!
The Horror Hotel
Our sense of smell is a lot more powerful than you’d think. Certain scents can conjure up memories from the past, good or bad. We have a feel that whenever someone lights a joint around this reviewer, they’re only going to be reminded of the worst hotel stay of their lives! From terrible electricity malfunctions to horrible scents, you couldn’t pay us to stay in this hotel!
We did have to chuckle at their comment regarding the quality of the weed being smoked. Would they have felt better if the smokers were puffing on a better product? Even if they were, that wouldn’t help much when it came to the urine-soaked elevator!
A Friendship-Ending Book
We’ve all gotten recommendations from a friend. Whether it’s a new NEtflix series or the latest movie that hit theaters, our friends and family are always insisting that there’s something we just “have to watch.” Typically we hear them out and forget they ever mentioned it, but this review actually followed through and read a book their friend suggested to them.
It looks like it was pretty bad because they decided that person had to be cut out of their life, permanently. We wonder if it’s because their opinion of this friend plummeted after reading the book, or if they got into a particularly heated argument about their differing opinions. Just goes to show that you should be careful what you recommend to people
A Hotel From Your Nightmares
Some people will resort to sleeping in a camper car rather than rent a hotel room in order to save money on accommodations. In this reviewer’s case, it seems like the former would’ve been the better option for more than monetary reasons! It looks like this hotel was in a state of disrepair that no one cared to fix.
Losing money on breakfast was the least of her worries, she actually had to deal with flea bites! We’d have to take a long shower after an experience like this, and even then we’d have trouble feeling clean again. We wonder what’s keeping the poor staff working at that dump!
Instructions Unclear
The title of this review really tells you everything you need to know about the reviewer. There are loads of apps you can download on your phone, but not all of them are going to work properly. However, sometimes they don’t work because the user is too stupid to understand the instructions. We seriously doubt this pregnancy app instructed them to urinate on their phone.
This one-star review should actually be given to the user just for being so brainless. We’re surprised they even put this information out there for everyone to read! If this ever happened to us we’d keep it a total secret just out of shame.
A Little History Lesson
Fast food joints often have items on their menu that sound delicious but are ultimately very disappointing. You might expect to get a quality product after watching commercials and seeing photos of mouthwatering burgers and wraps. But your expectations rarely meet reality, and in this reviewer’s case, the wrap was so bad that they had to liken it to a horrific historical event.
At the very least we hope whoever read this review got a little history lesson when it came to the founding of the United States. It was nothing like the Thanksgiving tale we’re used to hearing as kids. That said, we seriously doubt the wrap was THAT bad.
They’ve Clearly Never Used Legos Before
There’s so much to unpack with this review that we’re not even sure where to start. According to this reviewer, they’ve used Lego products before, but every time they have the set is complete. As we all know, the point of Legos is to put together the project yourself, so either this person is lying about using Lego products or someone is seriously messing with them.
Maybe their parents thought they were too stupid to complete the sets themselves so they secretly did it for them before presenting it to their dumb kid. If that’s the case, this reviewer is in for a very rude awakening!
What’s Wrong With Yellow?
So it looks like this reviewer actually liked the business they were rating, whatever it might be. Though they didn’t clarify how they WOULD rate it, they let us all know it would be more than one star. Apparently, this person’s hatred of the color yellow is so strong that they can’t bear to see it on their screen. Perhaps there’s some sort of setting that would let you browse the web in black and white?
We can’t imagine how this person functions in everyday life. Do they avoid people wearing the color yellow? Do they only go out at night so they can avoid the sun? This review gave us far more questions than answers!
Riddled With Plot Holes
This one’s pretty funny if you know what trypophobia is. Essentially it’s an aversion to or fear of something full of holes, it’s believed to be an evolutionary fear due to diseases that cause bumps or holes on the skin. However in this case it seems like this review is frightened by a different kind of hole.
A PLOT hole! Whether it’s in a TV show, movie, or book, there’s nothing worse than a plot hole. And according to this review, it looks like this book was chock full of them. We’d be afraid to read something like that, too. Just imagine how difficult it’d be to piece together all that inconsistent information!
