Underwater Lakes of Brine
Off of the Gulf of Mexico, 500 meters down, there was an astonishing discovery. An underwater lake, including its own sandy shore, but at the bottom of the ocean. There seemed to be even a tideline, along with hundreds of thousands of mussels, as well as the bodies of other creatures which littered the “shores”.

It is a lake of brine water, which has settled and pooled at the bottom of the ocean, because it is heavier than the surrounding seawater. This area is thriving and teeming with life, amongst a barren desolate landscape under the sea all around it, far below where the sun can reach.
