Ecosystem of Briny Eels

Methane trapped below the surface escaping caused the mussels to adapt with bacteria that could turn the methane into energy, and this became the backbone of the ecosystem. But the brine is not all wonder and awe. The water is so salty that it is toxic to fish and other animals like eels who dwell around the shores of the lake.

Some predators may dare to dive into the waters, but a moment too long can send their bodies into shock. Nearby to the lake, a huge field of tube worms stretching hundreds of meters also adapted to the sulfides being released, adapting themselves to turn it into energy as well. Even more incredibly, they are over 200 years old!
