Boy Builds Tiny House In His Backyard

Posted by Josh

What Is a Tiny House?

Architect Sarah Susanka began the movement in her book, The Not So Big House, which was published in 1997. In it she urges people to “build better, not bigger.” The idea caught on with a number of people, due to rising housing prices that were not going anywhere but up. They were looking for a much simpler, more efficient and conscientious lifestyle.

What Is a Tiny House?

The idea gained even more steam after Hurricane Katrina, when a large number of small “Katrina Cottages” were set up for those displaced by the hurricane, and cheap housing was in high demand and short supply.
