The History of Black Friday

Posted by Josh

Black Friday Was (And Is) Banned in Certain Places

Oklahoma is the only state in the US that until 2013, did not have Black Friday deals. Due to an antiquated law, they were forced to travel out of state to take advantage of any deals. But the state legislature changed that.

Black Friday Was (And Is) Banned in Certain Places

There are still places that will not allow them on certain days. For example, though some shoppers would want to start their shopping for the holidays the Thursday night of Thanksgiving, Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island all have laws banning people from working on Thanksgiving Day. This makes the workers more than happy at not having to deal with the crowds and chaos, but consumers are less enthused.
