The History of Black Friday

Posted by Josh

Evolving With the Times

“Black Friday” as a day itself has lost a bit of its luster in recent years. Mainly because there is rarely a “single day” that all these deals occur on at the same time. Instead, deals and sales are often spread out throughout the period of the holiday season. Moreover, it is no longer considered the gate opening to the holiday shopping season.

Evolving With the Times

Because shopping is now omnichannel, retailers and e-commerce giants alike have less of an incentive to have single-sale days, and instead keep them going throughout. Black Friday has really grown out of the single day event, with most retailers offering a “Black Friday Week”, offering limited promotions or daily specials in addition every day.
