The History of Black Friday
Black Friday in the 21st Century
Black Friday nowadays is a far cry from the utter chaos of the mid 20th Century in Philadelphia. No doubt the event is just as chaotic as ever, if news reports and police incidents are any indication. But the action isn’t simply concentrated in several central hubs. Due to the advent of the internet and technology, consumers can freely shop in their spare time on their way to work, at the office, or practically anywhere, from their computer, phone, or even smartwatch.

Black Friday in the 21st Century
Many shoppers nowadays first hit the brick and mortar stores to check out prices on the products they want, and then price match and find the best deal for it online. This and other factors have spelled a death-knell for malls and large shopping centers. The decline of store retail in the face of e-commerce is devastating, but does that mean the end of Black Friday? Not quite.
