Kozlowski’ told the judge, that he was truly sorry for what he did and that he would like to sincerely apologise to his ex-wife and his family as well for everything that he has done.  Legghio’s attorney said that Kozlowski was suffering from depression and emotional trauma after his wife informed him that she wanted a divorce. He was also undermined by her constant criticism of him, and his suspicions were aroused to the possibility that she was having an affair.

Legghio maintained that Kozlowski drugged her so that she would be tired and stay home and not go out gallivanting all night.
