A Prosecutor’s Dilemma

Slanec’s boss, Prosecutor Eric Smith, had expressed unease about Viviano’s potential probationary sentence in a news release. After the sentencing, Smith told a TV station he believes that Judge Viviano seemed to more interested about Kozlowski’s keeping his employment and emotional well-being than the suffering of victim, and he said that his office planned to appeal the sentence.
