The Secrets We Never Knew About The Johnny Carson Show

Posted by Dana

Deal Breaker

Being such a big iconic star also meant Carson had a lot of money to spend and deals to make. In 1980 he was about to purchase the Aladdin Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas but backed out. Wayne Newton ended up buying it. But business is just business, right? Well, not for Carson, who was so famous that media found a way to spin this into a story. They called him the big loser who has lost the deal. Carson didn’t like that at all, in return he told jokes about Wayne Newton, a fact which created a public feud between the two.
