That’s It, We’re Mom Shaming

Posted by T. Joelson

If you’re a parent you know that’s no easy task. Raising kids is difficult, and it seems like each day there’s some new rule parents have to follow. Other times, parents will make problems for themselves out of thin air. In recent years, moms all over the world have taken to Facebook to share their unconventional parenting styles. We used to say we’d never mom shame, but after hearing from this new generation of moms, we’ve changed our stance. They’ll go against medical advice, and put their child in harm’s way, or blast a kindergarten teacher for not wiping their child behind.

Whatever they’re choosing to whine about, we guarantee it’s never warranted. Join us on this journey of shaming the women that, unfortunately, became mothers.

Reddit by u/fatsoratso1

That’s Not Why You’re Being Attacked

It’s hard to tell someone you think they’re parenting incorrectly. However, there are a few times when you’re legally required to say something. If a parent is leaving their minor children alone while they go out at night, it’s time to get CPS involved. We’re sure nobody wants to do this, and that it was hard for this grandma to get CPS called on her daughter, but it was in her grandkids best interest.

Reddit by u/notcrunchymomof1

What we’re having trouble understanding is what this mom is having trouble understanding. She either needs to work while they’re out at school, hire a sitter, or at the very least not ask for sympathy when she doesn’t deserve it.

Ma’am They’re Children…

We hated getting in fights with our moms when we were younger. It always started because we brought up how they hurt our feelings, and they told us we were being disrespectful for doing so. It made us feel like we were never heard and led to a lot more disagreements. As a parent, you have to be mindful of the fact that everything you do affects your child and their development.

Reddit by u/usernametaken1933

If you’re always yelling or belittling them, they’ll feel like you don’t care. If you model respect for your child and show them what it means, they will, in turn, give that respect back to you. It’s not rocket science, but moms like this sure make it out to be!

This Isn’t Build-A-Baby

If you’ve ever tried to conceive, you know it’s not always that easy. It can take months and even years of trying before you’re lucky enough to get pregnant. Struggling with infertility is quite common these days, and thanks to modern medicine we now have some solutions.

Reddit by u/KBPLSs

IVF has been revolutionary and has allowed many people to fulfill their dreams of being parents. Of course, it’s an expensive, lengthy, and difficult procedure, but it’s all worth it in the end. It’s beyond us why this mom would go through all this trouble and money simply because she wanted to pick her baby’s gender. It makes us feel like we’re in an episode of black mirror.

Good Luck Filling That Position

Have you ever worked in the childcare industry? It’s not for the faint of heart, kids can be difficult to deal with, but their parents can be even worse. If you don’t want to send your kid to daycare, a nanny is always a great option, but it’s more expensive. This ad for a live-in nanny started off great until we saw this mom wants her nanny to pay to live in her house.

Reddit by u/pechxcrm

If you hire a live-in nanny, you are tasked with providing them with living arrangements. It baffles us that this mom thinks she can charge someone such a crazy amount of money to live where they work. We’re sure she’ll reevaluate once realizing nobody is willing to take the job.

This Is Above My Paygrade

Pregnancy and birth are beautiful moments, but that doesn’t mean they’re not also scary. You never know what’s going to happen, and sadly, things can go wrong very quickly. We know not everyone is fond of medical providers, but it’s always best to have one on hand in these situations.

Reddit by u/MelancholyMember

If you don’t take the precaution, you might end up in a situation like this where your birth photographer has to save your baby’s life. Don’t get us wrong, what this photographer did was absolutely amazing, but she never should have been put in such a situation. This was irresponsible whether it was intentional or not and hopefully, others learn from it.

You’re Severely Overestimating Tea

Before you have children there are lots of things you need to think about and prepare yourself for. For example, you might not be so keen on medication for yourself, but when it comes to your child’s health and safety you’ll need to get on board. Most parents wouldn’t think twice when it came to giving their kid life-saving medication, and then there’s this mom.

Reddit by u/Turtle_eAts

What kind of parent would rather their child die than suffer whatever minor side effects might come from a medication? Tea is great when you have a cold, or if it’s a rainy day, not when you’re about to die. We can only hope she came to her senses and got him the medication.

This Seems Illegal

Why do you go to work every day? Even if you’re passionate about your work and love what you do, you probably don’t go every day just for the fun of it. This mom is holding on to the hope that someone out there will love kids so much, they’ll watch hers basically for free. The times she’s asking are school hours, so it looks like she also wants them to be capable of teaching.

Reddit by u/meaniemuna

We all need to make a living in this world, and whoever took this job would be losing far more than they’d be gaining. This salary is viciously below minimum wage, we don’t understand how she thinks this is okay. Shocking.

A Bit Young For Financial Responsibility

If you’ve spent 5 minutes or 5 years with a child, you’ll pick up on one thing very quickly: they’re all extremely accident-prone. Yes, it can be bothersome at times, but getting hurt is how these kids learn. If they don’t make the mistakes now they’ll either get seriously hurt years later or live their lives in fear of just about everything.

Reddit by u/SlowSpecialist3359

It’s unpleasant to take your kid to the emergency room, but most parents just want to make sure their child is safe. This mom must see her son as a real burden for her to make him pay off his ER visit. We’re sure he’ll remember this moment when she needs to go to the nursing home.

You’re Not a Matchmaker

As a parent, you only want the best for your child. You want them to have fulfilling lives, with good jobs and great partners who they’ll eventually have kids with. It’s normal for a parent to be a bit nosy about their child’s dating life, but there’s a line you don’t want to cross.

Reddit by u/AndiRM

You’ll know you’ve gone too far when you have to pimp your child out by posting a dating ad for him on Facebook. It’s safe to say this son probably doesn’t want his mom picking out his future bride, and also that he’s incredibly embarrassed by this. Not only is this overbearing, but it’s going to have the exact opposite effect that she wants.

Are Your Children’s Lives Up for Debate?

As a parent, it’s normal to want to protect your kid in every way you can. This is why you’ll often see parents covering up their child’s crimes, or even taking the blame. These parents would do everything to keep their kids out of jail, but not to keep them from dying.

Reddit by u/Agent_Nem0

Vaccines are life-saving, and without them, we’d have a much smaller population. If a trained medical professional is unwilling to take your child as a patient, let that be a wake-up call for you. We don’t even understand why this mom wants her children to see a doctor if she’s not going to listen to their professional advice.

Best of Luck With That!

Pregnancy is a difficult and scary time in a woman’s life, there’s no denying that. It’s normal for an expecting mom to ruminate on all the dangers of the world. You see your baby’s life ahead of you, and you want to do everything you can to keep them safe. This is why a lot of moms find it helpful to have a birth plan, so they can feel more in control of the situation.

Reddit by u/gonnafaceit2022

We don’t think this mom has any sort of medical training, so we have no clue why she thinks an unassisted birth without medical care is a good idea. Things can go wrong in a split second, and this mom could lose her baby and her life. Nobody wants to treat her like a science experiment, they just want to keep her and her baby safe…if only she’d see that.

Surely There’s Another Solution

You need to have a ridiculous amount of patience to be a parent. We’re not saying you need to be a saint all of the time, but you do need to learn how to control your temper. It’s hard for a young child to adapt to change, like a new sibling, or no more milk. It makes sense why this toddler is having a hard time adjusting, but his mom’s response makes significantly less sense.

Reddit by u/Worried_Aerie_7512

Imagine seeing your child struggle with change so you resort to spanking them and taking away the things that bring them comfort. We’re glad she posted this so someone can talk some sense into her and she can change her ways before it’s too late.

Way to Jump to Conclusions

Imagine how difficult it must be to be a baby. One day you are in a warm quiet cocoon, the next day you’re outside, and there are so many over stimulating sights and sounds. It makes sense that babies need a lot of time to adjust to this. 12 months isn’t a long time, especially when you consider how as a parent you’ve had significantly more time on this earth.

Reddit by u/aurashockb

There’s no way to tell that a child that young will be a terror. It’s possible that this mom isn’t providing for his basic needs enough. Whatever the case may be, there’s no reason to slap a child ever, especially ones that have barely said their first word.

When Art Gets Scary

We’re not saying that you should have to pass some sort of test to be a parent, but we are saying you should at least know the basics of color theory. As a parent, you end up teaching your kid a lot about the world around them. Kids pretty much listen to anything you tell them, which is why it’s dangerous for this mom to go around spreading these lies about playdoh.

Reddit by u/luksi_okchamali

When we were kids, we learned that mixing blue and pink makes purple. We’re sure these kids are learning the same thing in their kindergarten class, maybe their mom can join them for the lesson.

Worried About the Wrong Thing

If you’re not going to love and accept your child for who they are, you shouldn’t have kids. When you decide to have a child, you need to accept the fact that they may be gay, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Some parents will go out of their way to make being gay seem like a bad thing, and will censor the things their child watches.

Reddit by u/momofwon

We don’t understand this mom’s logic, how is a child not ready to see characters who are transgender or gay? It’s not like watching this content will make her gay. If anything, she should censor her daughter from watching movies like Beauty and the Beast where Belle is held hostage.

We’re Not Seeing the Issue Here

There are a lot of far-fetched conspiracy theories out there, and they seem to get more ridiculous as time goes on. One of the craziest ones is that 5G towers will make you sick. If this mom did even 5 minutes of research, she’d know she has nothing to worry about. When you create problems out of thin air, the only thing you do is incite fear in others and yourself.

Reddit by u/lilnaks

There are many more valid things to be concerned about when moving, like the school district and how many other kids there are in the neighborhood. This mom needs to sort her priorities, and maybe spend less time on Facebook.

Playing Fast and Loose With Life

There are lots of different ways to bring your baby into this world. The most popular and safest option is in the hospital with trained professionals. Some people choose homebirth, or even water births in the ocean if they’re feeling adventurous! We can’t say we recommend any of the alternative options if you don’t have a midwife.

Reddit by u/Puzzled-Cranberry-12

A midwife is a trained professional who can assist you and your baby if anything should go wrong. We can’t explain how chaotic it is for this mom to want her husband to get a crash course online on how to do such a difficult job. Not only is it not safe, it’s also plain irresponsible.

No Diet Can Cure This

Some parents find it difficult to hear that their child has been diagnosed with ADHD. They think it changes things, and their child is a different person. In reality, the diagnosis can be beneficial in helping a child get the support they need. Speaking of support, it doesn’t come from posting on Facebook about how you as a mother didn’t do anything to cause it.

Reddit by u/AnyCatch4796

No amount of vegetarian meals or prayers to God can prevent these sorts of things. We regretfully inform this mom there’s no way to detox a diagnosis out of your child.  However, there are steps you can take to help him live his day to day to life, we hope she takes them!

That’s Not a Solution

Kids are a lot of fun, but it’s stressful to make sure you’re giving them the best possible childhood. You want to make sure they’re happy and fulfilled and of course, that you’re teaching them how to stand their ground. There is a time and place for this, typically it happens around elementary school.

Reddit by u/please_stop42

It’s unfortunate this 2-year-old is getting picked on by his cousin, but as a mom, it’s your job to fix this situation. There is no gym that offers 2-year-old self-defense classes, and if they do, we’d suggest running the other way. It’s almost like this mom would rather pay than deal with the issue herself.

Is This a Prank?

If you’ve ever joined or taken a few minutes to look at a mom group on Facebook, you’ll find a few different types of people. Of course, you’ll find the loving, doting and sane mothers, but their posts aren’t as interesting. Posts by moms who are afraid of things like dye, and vaccines are far better reads.

Reddit by u/kfcfamousbowl1

It baffles us to know that people think this way. Can you imagine not knowing that watermelons are naturally that color, but being legally responsible for a child? We know there’s no law saying who can and can’t be a mom, but there should at least be a government-mandated course once finding out you’re with child.

This Isn’t All About You

If you want to make stupid life choices that put your life at risk, go ahead! However, you have no right to mess with the lives of others. During Corona, a lot of people turned to the dark side and became anti-vaxxers. This started really affecting them when they were disinvited from events, and people stopped wanting to see them.

Reddit by u/CaeJean

If this mom doesn’t want her kid to be vaccinated, that’s her own problem, she shouldn’t subject a cancer-ridden woman to someone who could be sick. At the end of the day, you can do what you want, but that doesn’t mean other people have to bend the rules for you, especially when it comes to their lives.

Plastic Surgery Can Wait

There’s a lot that goes into bringing a child into this world. You need to make sure you’re mentally and physically prepared for pregnancy, birth, and raising a child. Pregnancy isn’t easy and there’s a lot of things you aren’t able to do. For example, most people know you can’t eat raw fish, or drink alcohol, but you also can’t get things like filler.

Reddit by u/Itsameeebaybeee23

This can be potentially harmful to the baby, and seeing as it’s an elective procedure, it’s easy to avoid. This mom might as well say she doesn’t care about the health and well-being of her baby. If you can’t put your baby over your beauty, maybe it’s time to reconsider some things.

Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?

We understand that some people don’t align with the traditional way of raising children. Typically this just means homeschooling their kids. Now that we’ve learned of free-range kids, we sincerely wish we hadn’t. It’s good to give your kids a say in how they are raised, and allow for open conversions, but not for everything.

Reddit by u/evissimus

Kids still need structure, they don’t know when they’re ready to be potty trained, or when to bathe. A parent teaches their child these things so they can eventually do them on their own. These parents are setting their children up for disaster and if they’re not careful they’ll end up with free-range adults.

Is That a Family Name?

We love seeing people post their baby announcements online. Each person is different, and it’s beautiful to see what name they’ve picked out for their little bundle of joy. Often people pick a name that means something to them, maybe even the name of a loved one who has passed.

Reddit by u/HotPinkLollyWimple

These days people don’t want their kid to have a boring name, but sometimes they pick something too out there in the hopes of being unique. Just because you put nearly every letter or sound into a name doesn’t make it good. We don’t know who we feel worse for, kids who have these names, or the teachers who will need to read their names out for attendance.

Going Through Sugar Withdrawal

Any parent will tell you that the more you hide things from kids or prevent them from doing something, the more they want to do it. That’s why every so often it’s okay to give them candy or a sweet treat. We don’t see anything wrong with this dad giving his daughter a piece of candy, after all, she is his daughter as well.

Reddit by u/Pastelpicklez

Going ballistic over something as small as food dye and writing a novel about it online is definitely taking things too far. Her teeth will still be beautiful, and if we’re lucky her toddler palette will remain intact. In all seriousness, this mom needs to chill out, and maybe even have a shark toy candy of her own.

Ignorance At Its Finest

If you don’t trust the people who have spent half their lives in school to become medical professionals, that’s on you. This mom knew she wasn’t going to like the answer she was given the second she stepped into that hospital, so we don’t get why she went. A burst appendix is very dangerous, and this mom is putting her daughter’s life at risk every second she waits.

Reddit by u/ApplicationNo8712

If she wanted knowledge or support we know who she could ask, the surgeons! Nobody on Facebook is more qualified than them, and they aren’t simply making an educated guess. This girl could have ended up in critical condition, and it would have been her mother’s fault.

Not a Part of the Job Description

Teachers don’t get enough credit for all the work they do. They spend hours teaching children valuable life skills, like getting along with others, and how to count to ten. Sadly, most parents don’t appreciate their child’s teachers and spend a lot of time arguing with them. We can’t believe we’re saying this but it is not a teacher’s job to wipe your child.

Reddit by u/taylorisacat

Potty training is something that happens at home, not in the classroom, so it makes perfect sense why this teacher refused. Instead of posting on Facebook about her disdain, this mom should channel that energy into teaching her son how to wipe his own butt.

Talk About Overbearing

They say kids these days are growing up too fast. A lot of people credit this to social media use and the fact that kids are exposed to so much content at a young age. The funniest part of all this is that the people who complain the most are the ones who post things like this. Why does this mom want her 3-year-old to be in contact with her while she’s at school?

Reddit by u/alohareddit

School is a time when parents are supposed to take a backseat and let the teachers teach. If you feel unsafe sending your kid to school, maybe you need to pick a different school with better security. It’s normal to be attached to your kid, but not like this.

This Is What You’re Worried About?

Did you know that what other people choose to do with their appearance is none of your business? Well, this mom sure didn’t. There are lots of good reasons to switch your child’s school, like if the curriculum isn’t good, or the teachers are mean. Switching because a teacher has colorful hair is not a good or valid reason to switch.

Reddit by u/fatsoratso1

If you treat the situation like it’s normal, which it is, then this boy won’t get distracted by it. Honestly, it might be best if this mom does take her son out, but only for the teacher’s sake. We wouldn’t have this teacher to have to deal with a mom like this all year.

Someone’s Being Overdramatic

If you want your kid to learn only certain topics, and be completely sheltered from others, then you should homeschool. This way, the only person you’ll have to get upset with is yourself! As a parent, if you don’t want your kid to learn certain things at school, you’ll need to pick a school that aligns with the curriculum you want.

Reddit by u/heheardaboutthefart

Most parents don’t have an issue with the word “naked” because it’s simply not a bad word. It’s one of the most natural things, and the only reason it was talked about here was in the context of the book. The only advice we could give this parent would be to lighten up a bit.
