Outrageously Frustrating Moments In Everyday Life
The world is a mysterious, wondrous, and frustrating place. That’s mainly because those who inhabit it aren’t always the most rational people. From odd work choices to the frustratingly terrible parking idiot, people and things all around us love to test our patience. Thankfully, with a deep breath and a quick social media post, we can all find a reason to laugh things off. Okay, not all of us can, but those of us following their posts can enjoy a chuckle or two! Find your zen, look for inner peace, and then dive into some of the most frustrating people and events from everyday life that make this planet a fun, yet terrible, world to live in!
You Are Not Completely Incorrect
If anyone reading this is outside the USA, we’ve got some shocking news for you! This “living wage surcharge” is, unfortunately, becoming more and more common. You see, in the States, food service employees are generally paid less than the national or state minimum wage. Why? Because sometimes stupid rules apply to innocent people.
Instead of this employer just eating the cost like a decent person, they’re forcing the customer to help pay for the employee’s (barely) livable wage! While not illegal, it’s stupidly frustrating and becoming a normal part of daily life for millions. Welcome to the land of the “free”!
Art Is Subjective And Pricey
Who are we to say something doesn’t belong in a museum? With enough resources and marketing, almost anything can be displayed and considered “fine art”. We’re pretty sure this isn’t the case. Unless this was scribbled by a famous art celeb at a Chili’s or something, this isn’t museum-worthy art. With all of that said, none of us at the office have something hanging in a museum.
It can be a bit frustrating going somewhere, paying a lot of money, and only seeing things that you could probably do better. The thing is, the world isn’t fair, and things like this will still attract a crowd. What type of crowd? We’re not sure. However, there’s a market out there for everyone and everything, so we’re not surprised either.
Tipping Guilt Shouldn’t Be A Thing
In the States, tipping a restaurant or a server for a job well done is fairly customary. That’s because most places don’t pay their staff a living wage. That, and, it can be a nice way to say thank you for all the work. Of course, as technology advances, more ways to secure a tip have become commonplace. Instead of that awkward moment spent waiting to see if you’ll get one, some places just insist on it.
They can even set the register to request specific tip amounts! It doesn’t erase the guilt. Instead, it just makes things so much worse. That, and, what is with these percentages? The audacity of some places is both shocking and a bit sad.
They Don’t Appreciate Teachers At All
Teacher Appreciation Week is a time when communities, students, and everyone who isn’t an educator shows gratitude to those that take on a thankless and critical role in our society. Regardless of how well you did, or are doing, in school, teachers are the backbone of modern society. They’re also so ridiculously underappreciated that some may even think this candy is an actual treat. It’s not.
This isn’t how you show appreciation for teachers. This is how you show that they mean nothing but a trip to the pharmacy to pick up insulin that they probably can’t afford. Do better. Pay teachers better. Also, tell an educator thank you today, and every day, because they probably really need to hear it now more than ever. Also, that’s not even a full pack of Starbursts!
Some Fender Benders Are Justified
The left lane is for passing only. The left lane is for PASSING ONLY. The left lane, also known as the fast lane, is for passing other cars in the right lane only! How many signs and people need to say it? This person isn’t just a bad driver, they’re a terrible person. Who does this and still sleeps well at night? Probably not many.
By the time all of these people get to where they’re going, it’ll be a brand new day. This driver is probably also the type to leave their blinkers on ad-infinitum or not even know they have blinkers in the car, to begin with. If you’re going to drive like this, just do everyone a favor and take the bus.
There’s A Lot To Unpack Here
Quick food delivery services have exploded in popularity over the years. From fast food to fine dining, if you don’t feel like leaving the house, but still enjoying a meal, just call Doordash, That, or, some other service, and enjoy your meal from the comfort of home! It’s a pretty novel idea and more and more people are jumping on the hype train.
What’s an issue is that many restaurants have no way of knowing if someone is a legitimate doordasher or a scammer. This has probably led to a lot of resentment and many people either not getting food, or their orders being ignored completely. While that sucks, nobody is thinking of the real victims here: the customer. Some of us just want our midnight Taco Bell!
You Can Buy Milk Locks?!
Another day, another weird item discovered online. Did you know you could buy locks for your milk jigs? While it kind of makes sense, you have to wonder why something like this even exists. Oh, here’s the reason! Apparently, if you don’t want strangers chugging your jug, you can now lock it up! This is genius! It’s a shame some people have to utilize such a tool.
It’s even sadder when people don’t respect each other’s personal space and belongings. A communal fridge is a place for people to store cold things together. If the thing says don’t touch, then maybe just leave it alone. If you get mad that they say this, you’re probably the problem. Also, it looks like there’s plenty of other free milk to go around.
This Isn’t The Bread’s Fault
Don’t you hate it when you have a craving but don’t have the means to satisfy it? Nothing hits the spot quite like a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It’s also stupidly easy to put together. Three ingredients are all you need: peanut butter, jelly, bread, that’s it. The tricky part is deciding what type of bread to use. You could be fancy like this person and go for a fresh-baked sourdough or whatever, but you need to make sure it’s not full of holes.
How can you do that? Well, since the packaging is clear, maybe look at what you’re buying first. We’re not saying this isn’t stupidly frustrating (since so much of the bread is air), but it’s an easily avoidable frustration. Just go caveman style and dip the bread in the jars!
This Policy Is Half-Baked At Best
Charging a monthly coffee fee at the office is one thing. Charging an outrageously overpriced microwave usage fee is something completely different. The fact that this is posted in a hospital is bad enough. The fact that it was posted without a hint of irony is even worse. Welcome to the world of market manipulation and capitalism.
It’s a shame that some people will acquiesce to this nonsense and actually pay the fee to use the microwave. At this stage, just bring in your own personal cooking equipment and bust it out during lunchtime. It would probably be cheaper in the long-run and help avoid drama at work.
It’s Not Even A Fancy Truck
There are very few reasons why anyone would ever park like a complete idiot. Maybe they’re bad at parking. Perhaps they have a special complex that lets them park like this for magical reasons. Maybe they’re trying to show off that they’re overcompensating for something nature blessed/cursed them with at birth and they want to take their rage out on the world.
We’re almost 100% sure this person doesn’t have any legitimate sticker or need a new driving test. Listen, it doesn’t matter how fancy or nice your vehicle is, you don’t get special parking privileges because you overpaid. This is one of those few instances where nobody would be convicted for keying the truck. Also, do not key someone else’s car. It’s not worth it.
This Is Frustrating And Sad
With so many people on the planet needing medical care or assistance, you’d think some countries would have figured out how to get universal healthcare off the ground. Oh wait, quite a few have! Out of thirty-three of the world’s most developed nations, thirty-two of them have some form of universal/socialised/blanket healthcare that doesn’t send citizens into poverty for refilling a prescription.
The United States isn’t one of them. This person pays a stupidly high cost to see their doctor and then doubles that just to get their meds! The worst part is, we wouldn’t be surprised if these costs are after insurance kicks in and fronts the majority of the bill.
So Close But So Far Away
Ensuring as many people can access critical things like hospitals, schools, and safe crosswalks can seem like a daunting task. However, humanity has been getting slightly better at it over the years. When it comes to people with poorer, or perhaps no, eyesight, the inclusion of braille on most public signs and access points is a good place to start. The (not so) tricky thing is, braille is a language that can only really be utilized through touch.
That means, just because you have the dots in places, you have to make sure people who need them can actually read them. Just printing them on a piece of paper is about as effective as handing out paper umbrellas in the middle of a hurricane. It’s a nice intention, but the execution leaves quite a bit to be desired.
Their Meat Was In The Right Place
With the arrival of Impossible Meat, more and more plant-based options are becoming available for people to enjoy at popular restaurants and eateries around the world! Now, your vegetarian or vegan friends, and family, can order their own combos off the dollar menu. They can do it without having to feel awkward or that they can’t fully enjoy a meal, too!
The catch is, you can’t really substitute an Impossible meal for a regular one, since that eliminates the entire point of the vegan-friendly burger. While this employee did their best, the little smiley doesn’t help that the order is basically inedible for someone that can’t have meat. Great thought, but good intentions don’t always fill bellies.
Isn’t This Super Duper Illegal?
In case you didn’t know, as an employee of someone in most countries, you have rights against unlawful termination. The keyword is literally in the name: unlawful. Imagine working at a job and you’re fired out of the blue because someone in your family is about to pass away. You’re not fired because you’re visiting them too much and missing a lot of work.
You’re fired because the job doesn’t want to deal with your brief when, and if, that loved one actually dies. Even if it’s not written in the employee’s contract, this sounds like a massive lawsuit just waiting to happen. Yeah, a death would affect this guy’s performance, but that’s natural and not something anyone should lose their job over.
Proper Bedside Manner Extends To Phone Calls
If you’re a sexually active person, then regularly getting tested for STIs should be part of your routine. There’s no shame in it. That’s just part of staying safe and ensuring your partner’s are protected and knowledgeable as well. Knowing your HIV status is also something you should ALWAYS be on top of. Despite this being a normal thing to get checked, there’s a lot of anxiety with getting tested.
Part of the reason is that some tests take a few days to process. That waiting time can be excruciating. Of course, that makes the results that much more good to hear when everything comes back negative. If the person presenting them thinks they’re funny, or has a terrible delivery, like the clinic employee on the phone, then even good news may be frustrating to process.
These Headlines Practically Write Themselves
Remember those cartoons where the ultra-wealthy megalomaniac twirls a mustache and says terrible things about poor people? Maybe they’re in a pinstripe suit at the top of a ridiculously tall tower where they do “business” that’s never properly defined? Yeah, they’re real. The towers and suits may be outdated images, but there are definitely creatures youth there with more money than compassion.
If something to benefit others is in the works, and they don’t agree or like it, they’ll throw wads of cash to get it taken down or stopped. This isn’t some metaphor or shadowy vague worry. Take a look! Rich people didn’t want a homeless shelter built, so they pooled a bunch of cash to stop its construction! You know what they say, wealth and power corrupt. This is what that phrase is talking about.
Time To Raise A Stink
Ahem, we have many questions about this one. Why are only ladies being targeted? How fragile are these pipes? Is there something unsanitary going on in the women’s restroom but not the men’s? This reeks of sexism and has an additional smell of stupidity. We’d like to think, at the very least, another female employee posted this.
It doesn’t make it any better, but it would cut on the horrifying implications a bit…right? At the office, gender should not come into play with large-scale company policies. If women aren’t allowed to do anything but pee, then neither should the men.
It Wasn’t Made For Her
Paying homage to celebrity legends and iconic stars long-passed is a time-honored tradition in Hollywood. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, after all. There’s a fine line that shouldn’t be crossed, though. When Kim Kardashinan’s team got their hands on an original dress worn by Marilyn Monroe, they did more than cross the line. They stretched it and damaged it beyond repair. When an article of clothing made for one person is put on the body of another, some things may not fit correctly.
When something as delicate as a crystal-studded gown that was measured for Monroe is stretched out, there’s very little that can be done to restore it to its former glory. While she generated a lot of press for this look, tons of it was so negative that it should serve as a lesson to others. Respect history like this instead of trying to make it your present.
Sir, There Are Children Present
Whatever your views on vaccines are, there’s a time and place for discussing them. That goes for any sensitive or personal choices and “controversial” topics. Wearing your views on a shirt is your right. That’s a fact. That doesn’t excuse you for looking like a perverted creep or paedophile at the local family-friendly trampoline park. The only adult in this picture is taking photos of someone.
The idiotic man-child with the cap is supposedly the other one. Choosing to wear that shirt in a place almost exclusively frequented by kids was the wrong choice. What would those little girls think after reading it? He better have been bounced out of that place lickety-split.
Welcome To Air BnClean!
Home-sharing and rental companies have been around for quite a while. In the early days of Airbnb, you could find an affordable and chill place to stay nearly anywhere. Sure, it was someone’s spare room, but it’s better than a hotel! Then, things started to charge. Service and cleaning fees started to get jacked up as more and more people saw the advantage of these places over hotels.
Eventually, listings like this one became the norm. Sure, you can find a cheap place for less than $100 a night. That doesn’t mean the cleaning fee won’t be quadruple that amount. Why? Because the homeowner can, and someone will pay that ridiculous price, that’s why.
Stop Spying On Your Neighbors
Oh no, a twelve-year-old was left alone in the house. A kid that’s probably old enough to know how to stay on their own for a quarter of a day was given independence? Golly, that’s a problem this neighbor is setting out to solve. Ma’am, we’ll save you the time and tell you how this is going to play out. You’ll call the police or CPS. They’ll go out and investigate (and use tax-payers money to do so).
They’ll probably discover all is good and nobody’s in danger since twelve is old enough to have some time to yourself at home. Then, when you repeat this over and over again, they’ll eventually stop coming around. It’s like a modern-day “Boy Who Cried Wolf” except there’s no sad resolution because it’s NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
How Did Nobody Else Stop Him?
Copyright infringement and plagiarism are not new concepts. Sure, thanks to technology and social media, it’s easier than ever to steal an artist’s work. But, these are still crimes and shouldn’t be occurring at the rate that they do. While it’s harder to stop someone online from ripping you off, you’d think a real-world example would have a better ending.
Not only did some dude steal this photographer’s work, but he also entered it as an original piece in a contest! This contest, sponsored by an entire country’s government, even awarded him money! Nobody vetted the work and apparently, the (original) artist is still having trouble reaching someone! Frustrating doesn’t even begin to cover the emotions she, and the rest of us, are feeling.
Stop Watering Down People’s Stuff
It’s no secret that businesses are always looking to maximize their profits. However, some things are just plain ridiculous and clearly meant to annoy people for no reason. Have you ever been somewhere that charged you to not add ice to a beverage? Yeah, not the other way around. This donut place is not only claiming they water down their coffee, but they refuse to stop it for free.
The little “apology” from management makes it sting a bit more, too. Isn’t this against some sort of law? No? Okay, then this is just sad. We remember when asking for water and ice was free, now we’re all the way asking to not be charged for it. Things sure have gotten weird lately.
Not Every Price Is Negotiable
Reality television has done a great job of skewing most people’s expectations of the real world. The funny thing is, some of, if not all, of the most popular reality shows are super scripted. Any program that shows someone “haggling” over a price is staged to some extent. That doesn’t mean the viewers understand this.
Then, they take those ideas to a real business deal and are met with people with common sense. Who thinks they can get 50% off of a random Marketplace listing, especially when it just went up? No ma’am, if we were the seller we wouldn’t even entertain the conversation with you, let alone play with the price.
Were The Waffles Diamond-Encrusted?
Tipping on a card is a pretty convenient way to avoid touching money. That stuff is filthy. Unfortunately, this also means that a business may try to round up or add a bunch to a tip in hopes that you don’t notice. If you’re enjoying a meal at Waffle House, or any other amazing, but not fancy, establishment, you probably aren’t tipping over 30% on a bill.
This person isn’t either. Instead, they were tipping 99.9%! How amazing is the service to go from a $17 bill to $35? It’s never that good. Oh, the business included the tip? Yeah, that makes more sense as to why we’re irritated. They better have gotten one of everything to justify this extra amount.
They’re Still In The Car?!
Dealing with morons and their stupid parking jobs is just part of life. As annoying as it is, it’s apparently super common for people with no common decency to be allowed to drive and park. While having to deal with the occasional person parking in an inconvenient place, this takes things to a whole other level.
Not only is this dude parked in front of someone’s personal driveway, but they were chilling in the car! When asked to go, he apparently said no and just sat there. This isn’t just frustrating. It’s kind of creepy. Thankfully, a handy call to the police will hopefully set things right and this guy can park in the local tow lot.
Property Management Is A Losing Game
Paying rent on a place you don’t own is frustrating, but necessary sometimes. While the renter’s agreement is often stacked in the landlord or property company’s favor, there are some things you can do to reduce the cost once you move out. One of the big things you can do to re-secure your deposit is to deep-clean the living space and document everything! While the landlord may try to keep some of your cash, they legally can’t keep all of it without proof of damage.
This property manager knows that and still didn’t agree with the notion. Instead, since they wanted to fix up their car, they thought about damaging a previously lived-in space themself! We’re not sure who needs to hear this, but that’s super illegal and unethical. Plus, putting it out in the open like that? Maybe that’s a sign that some jobs require degrees or competency tests.
The Lord Doesn’t Always Provide
There’s a famous phrase that goes, “No good deed goes unpunished”. It’s also a fantastic song from a musical. However, regardless of where it’s from, there’s a ring of truth to it. Returning something that isn’t yours is a good deed that nobody should expect a reward. That’s just being a decent person. However, if you’re returning a fat stack of cash to someone, it’s customary to provide some sort of thank you for showing gratitude.
If someone hands you $30,000 that you lost, giving them a copy of a religious book they may or may not already have isn’t very nice. What’s the lesson here? It’s also kind of very rude. Does the guy even know if they’re Muslim or not? At least the two finders are kinder people than the money-guy is.
Laws Don’t Apply To The Wealthy
If there’s anyone out there that doesn’t believe wealth can help you overcome the law, read this. Not only did Kim K break water conservation laws, she wasn’t, and still isn’t, the only one. If your home state is going through a multi-decade drought, maybe you should do your part and be less terrible. Conserving water could help, too. Instead, with enough money, you can just do whatever and pay the fines later.
The fact that people aren’t just complacent about it, but accept it, is also part of the problem. Just because you’re a celebrity doesn’t mean you get to skip certain rules because your money shields you from consequence. At least, it should be that way. Sadly though, those thoughts get washed away with the (lack of) rainwater.
This Isn’t About Someone’s Nature
The entire comment from this dude is so infuriatingly misogynistic that we couldn’t finish it without seeing red and screaming loudly into the ether in the office. Men and women don’t operate by fundamentally different natures. Nobody should get a free pass to cheat, break vows, and make someone’s life hell just because they’re a guy.
Whoever this commenter is, it sounds like this isn’t their first time at the cheater’s rodeo, but refuses to admit to any wrongdoing. This isn’t the flex you think it is dude. If someone cheats on another person, then the person that was hurt should end that relationship immediately. It doesn’t matter if they’re married or not! Why do people defend crap like this and think it’s okay?
