Another Air Force pilot on base recalled his first meeting Meyer at a Suffolk pub. The disgruntled mechanic was blacked out on the table, and the pilot and his friends sat down after banging on the table to ask if they could sit, to no avail.

He did rise though when they bought a round, stating they could only stay if they bought him a beer.
