Fans Name The Most Overrated And Underrated Actors
There are so many stars in the sky and almost as many in Hollywood. With all the millionaires and hard workers in that town, some of them are ridiculously overrated. Others are revered, sure. But for every beloved actor out there there are at least ten of them that are so wildly overrated that some people can’t figure out why people fawn over them. On the flip side, there’s an entire under current of superstars that are paid dust by both the fans and the industry.
In the end, it doesn’t really matter. Celebrities will continue to be famous, but fans are naming the most overrated and underrated stars that make up the constellation of Hollywood’s elite!

OVERRATED: Jared Leto
Some actors take method-acting a bit too far. Jared Leto is no stranger to this committed form of embracing a role. When he was getting ready to play The Joker in Suicide Squad, he would send dead animals to costars and other odd “gifts” as a means of becoming his character. This guy is a CELEBRATED actor by those who don’t know him too well. Even when his films don’t do well, he’ll go in 110% to ensure he gives it his all.
That’s great and all, but doesn’t always make for a good working environment. If anything, that type of commitment is wildly overrated when most people just want to do their job without having to deal with animal control. That or your coworker knowingly giving themselves gout for fun.
UNDERRATED: Vincent D’Onofrio
Remember The Cell? What about Full Metal Jacket? Oh, don’t forget Men In Black! These are all incredible and iconic films. What do they all have in common: Vincent D’Onofrio. This veteran actor has seen it all, done it all, and been in everything. Despite being in the game for decades, and doing it well, we don’t hear about him as much as we should!
He’s severely underrated, however, that’s also a testament to his skills. When an actor can disappear completely into a role, they kind of transcend to a level of perfection others can only dream to aspire to. There should be a Hollywood Walk of Fame for chameleon actors!
OVERRATED: Gwyneth Paltrow
What’s in the box? Even though we never saw it, everyone knew it was GwynethPaltrow’s head. The fact that she stole a final scene when not even on camera shows how powerful Paltrow is in a role. That’s not to say she’s not also severely overrated. When an actor decides they want to start a massive pseudoscience empire to sell merch, some people have got to raise some eyebrows.
Regardless of how much Goop you’re covered in, Paltrow’s body of work is pretty impressive. Even though she’s been in huge movies (and great ones), her roles within them are easily some of the most forgettable. Maybe that’s why she’s been in so much: she can just fade away? Gooped.
UNDERRATED: Andy Serkis
Character actors like Andy Serkis are the type of people who can completely transform into another species for a role. Unfortunately, given the ability to shapeshift, actors like Serkis are always flying under the radar. It’s kind of a blessing and a curse. Serkis has been part of some of the biggest cinematic universes in existence and yet most people only refer to him by his character names!
It’s almost like a backhanded compliment. From obsessing over the One Ring to trying to destabilize the Galactic Federation, he’s done it all in every conceivable reality. Unfortunately, most fans don’t seem to talk a lot about him as they do other supporting actors in smaller films.
OVERRATED: Chevy Chase
When you’re a mega-famous comedian, a lot of people will give you a pass on certain things. That’s not always a good excuse, we’re just laying the groundwork for what turned out to be the inevitable “fall” of a titan. Chevy Chase is one of the most celebrated actors and comics to come out of the Lampoon universe. His over-the-top delivery and jerky nature always turn into a great character.
However, a lot of that has nothing to do with his acting ability. A ton of his former (and current) co-stars say that’s just Chase being himself. The guy is so difficult to work with that some actors can’t stand being on set with him!
UNDERRATED: Tobey Maguire
When it comes to superhero movies, the fans are often more critical of an actor than they would be in other genres. That’s probably because of the emotional attachment a lot of people have to the heroes. Comics will do that to people. Spider-Man has been around longer than most of the actors who played him have been alive. With all the different iterations of the hero, everyone has their favorite.
One of the least celebrated for some reason is Tobey Maguire. Maguire’s goofy portrayal of an awkward teenager turned smart-mouthed hero was FANTASTIC! He’s also the only Spider-Man to make his own webbing. Work smarter, not harder, right?
OVERRATED: Mark Wahlberg
Mark “Marky Mark” Wahlberg has been acting, performing, and stirring up controversy for literal decades. This guy is a pretty good comedy actor. However, he’s been the exact opposite of typecast. Wahlberg has hit-up nearly every genre and offered his take on it in surprisingly bland ways. Despite making people laugh, directors insist everyone wants to see his muscles.
Spoiler alert: we don’t. Wahlberg’s attempt to be a Hollywood “tough guy” never seems to go over well. He couldn’t even dredge up enough support to make The Happening happen! Sometimes, it’s best for people to admit a spade is a spade, and Wahlberg is the exact opposite: a heart without a point.
UNDERRATED: Josh Hartnett
Minnesota native and worldwide heartthrob Josh Hartnett deserves many more awards than he has. His performance in both The Faculty and Lucky Number Slevin was bizarrely spot-on. We say bizarre since both of those films have a wild plot that isn’t completely based in reality. Hartnett is also a dedicated team player!
Harnett was cast in The Black Dahlia for five years before the movie even got off the ground! If Hollywood can see how gifted he is, why don’t more people? Hartnett is also a celebrated activist and isn’t afraid to stand up for good causes. Hopefully, we see a lot more of him in the future.
OVERRATED: Emma Watson
This is a controversial one, but hear us out: Hogwarts isn’t real and Emma Watson isn’t the best actress of her generation. She may be the brightest witch of the Wizarding World, but she’s also wildly overblown outside of the franchise. Child stars often have a lot of positive press in the beginning and it fizzles out. Watson has maintained a great public image, but that isn’t entirely due to her acting ability.
She’s an amazing humanitarian, but as an actor, she leaves a lot to be desired. That’s mostly because she has the same delivery in almost every single film! From being a Disney princess to a wallflower, close your eyes and she sounds the exact same every time.
UNDERRATED: Tom Hardy
While watching a TV star go to the bigtime in Hollywood is fun, sometimes all an actor needs is to shift to TV to get the accolades they deserve. Tom Hardy is an action superstar, sexy heartthrob, and an all-around amazing guy. With all of his success, most people never seem to name him at the top of their favorites lists. That’s pretty shocking.
It’s even more surprising given how incredible his hit show Peaky Blinders is! This guy is much more than incredible pecs and a chiseled jaw. He has range. He has emotions. He has eyes that just won’t quit. Are there still fan clubs for celebrities that come with special member cards? If so, we’re signing up for Tom Hardy’s.
OVERRATED: Kit Harrington
Game of Thrones changed the cultural landscape for a good number of years. Fans, viewers, and unwilling participants forced to hear about it all seemed to fall in love with the same character: Jon Snow. Throughout eight seasons we all watched him try and reclaim the Iron Throne for himself…but doing next to nothing. Just looking sad isn’t enough to become a monarch, dude!
That same mentality seems to surround Kit Harrington. Despite being a good actor, most people think being on Game of Thrones makes him the best of the best. Sometimes, it’s better to judge a person’s body of work instead of a single role they were fortunate enough to land. Just don’t tell the mega-fans of the show that we said that.
UNDERRATED: Adam Sandler
Why do people not appreciate old-school comedy? Actors like Adam Sandler have a unique delivery that modern movie and TV viewers just don’t seem to appreciate. Even though Happy Madison Productions has had some flops, they’ve put out some AMAZING classic films. The Waterboy? Happy Gilmore? Heck, go further back and watch Sandler on SNL!
The Chanukah Song is probably one of the funniest songs to come from that era of the show! Sandler is also a really decent actor in dramatic roles. Some people just can’t see past an artist’s current work. If you’re looking at his entire career, Sandler has always maintained a stable level of funny and acting talent that more people should appreciate.
OVERRATED: Will Ferrell
There are some comics who have a great hold on their craft. Others don’t know what their voices are. Then there are comedic actors who are so committed to a style of funny they just can’t break free from it to appeal to a wider audience. Will Ferrell is a funny guy. Nobody will deny him that. However, there comes a point when acting like a screaming giant/man-child isn’t as good as people think it is.
As a character actor, he’s undoubtedly skilled at drawing attention. That’s not to say some of his films are so wildly over-the-top that they’re platforms for him to screech on screen without doing much else. Sometimes, you just need to grow up.
UNDERRATED: Karl Urban
We’re pretty sure that if it weren’t for The Boys, Karl Urban would continue to be paid near-n-attention by worldwide audiences. That’s a shame, given that he’s been in some of the biggest films and shows ever and people never seem to talk about him. Long before he was Billy Butcher, Urban starred in The Lord of the Rings!
He was also in several hero and video game films that were pretty decently received. It’s a shame those were more niche, at least at the time. This New Zealand actor is wildly skilled and deserves way more attention and love than Hollywood seems to give him.
OVERRATED: Ben Affleck
It doesn’t always matter how good of an actor or director you are. You can be a wildly successful person like Ben Affleck and make people roll their eyes so forcefully they can see their brains. After jettisoning to the top with Good Will Hunting, Affleck was everyone’s must-have guy in cinema. However, a lot of his big accomplishments were overshadowed by his relationships (specifically one with Jennifer Lopez).
Plus, as the Harvey Weinstein allegations came to light, people stepped forward and revealed Affleck may have even known about them before everything went public! Even though it was a big deal, it didn’t seem to stop the money and big roles from coming in. For someone as powerful and connected as Affleck, a bit of humility and humanity would be better than more money-making projects.
UNDERRATED: Elisabeth Moss
When a tabloid gives an actor a unique nickname, that usually means the public is in on the joke as well. Even when the nickname is positive, like Elisabeth Moss being the “Queen of Peak TV”, some stars just don’t shine as brightly as others. Nearly every role Moss has taken on has been excellent and critically acclaimed.
With over three decades in the business, it’s kind of sad that more people aren’t singing her praises! She isn’t just an excellent TV actor. Moss is also a wonderful producer who has helped create some unforgettable films like Queen of Earth and Shirley! Maybe her affiliation with the Church of Scientology is what keeps her off most people’s favorites list…
OVERRATED: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
There’s an interesting trend where stars of one art form decide to jump ship and spread their wings in another. We’re all for that. Jim Carrey is a great painter. Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor of California. Then, there’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. If nobody remembers his wrestling days, go finish your homework then continue reading this. The rest of us remember him throwing chairs and running around in speedos. It was great.
When he started acting, a lot of people were pleasantly surprised. Then that pleasantness dissipated when he just kept making movie after movie. He’s not a bad actor (look at his wrestling career). But casting him in nearly every other flick? That seems a bit excessive for someone that can only look mildly surprised at the camera and flex.
UNDERRATED: David Tennant
Some superstars dominate the market they work in, others are able to transcend them and take over the world with their talents. David Tennant is kind of in between the two. His role as The Doctor in Doctor Who has caused millions of fans to fall in love with the sci-fi series for reasons that transcend the multi-decade plot. Tennant has even starred in the Harry Potter franchise for goodness sake!
With those huge wins under his sonic screwdriver, why aren’t more people gushing over him? Perhaps he needs to take on some more Hollywood roles. With his range, talent, and dashing good looks, he could easily dominate Hollywood; just as he has the BBC.
OVERRATED: Jason Statham
When you’re great at what you do, people will continuously expect you to do that thing over and over again. In most jobs that’s a positive. When you’re in the entertainment industry, that can be a death sentence. Even when your projects are continuously successful, typecasting can hurt someone’s image in unexpected ways.
Snatch was an amazing movie, but after that, he seems to play the same role again and again and the movies he’s in are pretty similar. While he has legions of fans, adding some more diversity would be beneficial to his IMDB page. Until then, he’s a bit more overrated than people want to admit.
UNDERRATED: Patricia Clarkson
Hollywood and fans of everything that comes out of it seem to feed off of youth. Even when you’re a veteran actor, once people reach a certain age, they seem to be completely overlooked. It’s beyond frustrating and kind of baffling. One of the best examples of an amazing artist being severely underrated is none other than Patricia Clarkson.
Despite not even being that old, her wildly successful movies from the last ten or so years aren’t even discussed. Shutter Island? Easy A? They would have been NOTHING without Clarkson’s expert delivery and acting insight. Young fans need to get with the times and learn to appreciate talent no matter the age.
OVERRATED: Chris Pratt
Simply being attractive doesn’t make you a great actor. We said it and we meant it. We’re not the only ones to think so. Chris Pratt is the world’s golden child for some inexplicable reason. The guy is great in comedy roles. Period. Whenever he has to play a dramatic character or even an animated one, things seem to fall apart.
Just listen to him in The Super Mario Bros. Movie trailers! There’s no Mario, just Pratt. However, if you say any of that to one of his fans, they won’t be able to swallow it. They just can’t seem to separate their adoration for him from his lack of adaptability. It’s always been that way, too. Zero Dark Thirty was a mess.
UNDERRATED: Mae Whitman
Some people may be surprised by this, but some of the most underrated actors in the entertainment industry happen to be voice actors. Mae Whitman is one of the reasons Avatar: The Last Airbender was as good as it was. As Katara, Whitman delivered line after line of element-bending perfection. You may be surprised to hear that it wasn’t her first knockout performance.
Whitman was a minor character in some big-budget films like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World! She was the bi-furious Roxy Richter! But when you’re not playing the lead role, fans just don’t seem to celebrate you as much. That’s a shame, mostly because she could carry any film she’s cast in!
OVERRATED: Timothee Chalamet
Beauty is subjective, it’s in the eye of the beholder. You can’t fault an actor for their looks, especially since hair and makeup can completely change them for a role. When you have unconventional looks and a lack of range, you might have a hard time capturing audiences. That’s why Timothée Chalamet is an anomaly.
The Call Me By Your Name star is pretty popular right now. Despite the films he’s in being culturally significant, they weren’t made better by his presence. In fact, just imagine any other actor taking some of his recent roles. How different would they have really been?
UNDERRATED: Ben Foster
Who here’s a Ben Foster fan? Show of hands. Okay, how about this: who here loves Freaks and Geeks and Six Feet Under? There we go. Ben Foster delivered some of his best performances in these shows! He’s also starred in a massive swath of films like X-Men: The Last Stand and Hostage.
Just because he doesn’t get into tabloid trouble or cause controversy doesn’t mean he’s a bad actor. Foster just shows up, does his job, and goes home to meditate. That’s perfectly fine! He should also be celebrated for always being a solid actor with a great range and a whole lot of talent.
OVERRATED: James Corden
James Corden seems to be everywhere these days. He’s a karaoke superstar, a talk-show host, and even a respected actor who’s met Princess Anne. He’s also insufferable. For all of his talent and reach, this guy has a habit of ticking people off. When he was promoting Cats (the terrible CGI version) he did a flashmob in the middle of a busy street…during rush hour.
Corden’s also been widely panned as having an ego problem, thinking very highly of himself, and treating his crew very badly. Even though you’re a great actor and singer, you shouldn’t treat people like they’re below you. That alone should be enough for fans to not sing his praises as wildly as they do.
UNDERRATED: Ted Levine
Starring in some of the most influential movies of a decade can lead to huge gains for an actor. Sometimes though, being fantastic in a film isn’t enough when your co-stars are equally as good. The Silence of the Lambs is an AMAZING movie. Everyone in it is a superstar. However, Ted Levine (Buffalo Bill) doesn’t seem to be as highly regarded as Jodie Foster and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Levine also starred in Shutter Island! However, he was also overshadowed by Leo. This guy can’t seem to catch a break. At least he keeps falling up! Now if only the fans could lift him up higher since he totally deserves it.
OVERRATED: Jennifer Lawrence
When Hollywood was looking for a new superstar Jennifer Lawrence volunteered as tribute. It didn’t take long for Lawrence to go from Katniss Everdeen to the highest-paid and most-booked woman in the entertainment industry. Despite her success, some people just can’t get past her oddly wooden line delivery. Let’s just say not everyone was a fan of her Hunger Games breakout role.
It wasn’t a one-time issue either. Rewatch some of her other hits (like Silver Linings Playbook). She’s basically playing the same character, just without a bow. While she’s not a bad actor by any means, she is overrated by the industry and movie-goers.
UNDERRATED: Michael Sheen
Even when you’re at the top of your game, if you’re not booking mega-hit films, people just won’t notice you. That’s a problem since a lot of that has to do with marketing. Michael Sheen is an excellent entertainer. He’s been in Underworld, he’s been in Passengers. He’s been in so many things and been great in nearly all of them.
Unfortunately, since none of them swept people away and became blockbusters, people just keep paying him lots of money and very few accolades. Sheen’s ability to transform into nearly anyone and convince people his character could actually exist is a talent. It’s also a talent his co-stars and more beloved peers could take a lesson from.
OVERRATED: Emilia Clarke
Game of Thrones had a habit of introducing (or reintroducing) its audience to some wildly successful and incredible actors. The fans of the series also developed a habit of singing the actors’ praises in ways that seemed detached from reality. Emilia Clarke is one of the best actors in the series. She’s capable of so many great things and is a scene-stealer without being a showboater.
That still doesn’t add up to the level of praise and adoration that people seem to give her. Rewatch some of her most memorable moments in the show. The delivery just isn’t there and a lot of her blocking is obviously forced and super wooden.
UNDERRATED: Domhnall Gleeson
What do people like Anna Karenina and Frank have in common? They both know Domhnall Gleeson. The Irish superstar actor has been part of so many influential and important projects, and it’s shocking people aren’t screaming his name at the top of mountains. No matter the show or film, whenever Gleeson is cast, fans automatically know that he’s going to shine.
He’s one of those influential actors who can jump into any genre and look natural doing it. Even his smaller projects, like Shooter, were made ten times better just by his being in them. He wasn’t even the lead in that project and he still knocked it out of the park!
OVERRATED: Jesse Eisenberg
It doesn’t matter what he’s like in real life, all his acting roles are quite insufferable. Fans are constantly pointing out the condescending attitude of pretty much every character he plays. Watching him on the big screen can be tortuous for many. We all had high hopes for his films whether it was The Social Network, To Rome With Love or Now You See Me.
While all these films and roles had great potential, there’s something so repetitive about Eisenberg’s acting. Maybe fans would appreciate him more if he broke into lighter or more fun roles. Too much of the same thing would annoy anyone!
UNDERRATED: Ethan Hawke
This addition is mixing things up a bit. Not just an actor but a director and writer as well. He’s been nominated for a multitude of awards and directed many feature films. He’s also written novels and his own graphic novel. If you haven’t guessed already we’re talking about Ethan Hawke. The often underestimated actor is more talented than people realize.
Dead Poets Society is considered to be his breakthrough role and he would later go on to star in Sinister, The Magnificent Seven, and Reality Bites. Hopefully at least some of these ring a bell! If they don’t then make sure to add these to your list of films to watch.
OVERRATED: Will Smith
You might know him as Will Smith, but many will know him simply as the Fresh Prince. As an actor, rapper, and father, Smith takes on a lot of roles on and off the screen. His issue with acting is he’s only ever playing one or two versions of himself, there’s no diversity. Even his supporters want to see him branch out a bit.
To many, he comes across as egocentric and wanting all the attention. God forbid he ever takes the bad guy role. Even in Suicide Squad, he plays a hired killed but still isn’t the villain. Hollywood seems to have an undying need for him only to play characters motivated by love.
UNDERRATED: Robert Pattinson
In 2009 he was voted the sexiest man alive. Now that’s a title sure to put you on a map. All this traction was gained from his starring role in Twilight, little did we know he would go on to wow us with so much more. There’s a lot more to Robert Pattinson than meets the eye.
Don’t let his vampire past sway your opinion. If you’ve seen The Lost City of Z then you know how much he’s capable of! It’s not all chasing after Bella Swan and fighting werewolves for this guy. He has diversified his career by taking dramatic roles in movies like Good Time and the Lighthouse.
OVERRATED: James Franco
Isn’t the whole point of acting to take on a new persona? So can someone explain what’s going on with James Franco? Why do all of his fans have something to say about his lack of range? When it comes to his career it seems like most of the time he’s not even taking on a new role, he’s just acting as James Franco.
People would have more appreciation for him if he tried something a little less goofy. Why Him? and the Interview are prime examples of his pattern. While his personality may be great, it’s not translating well into his career. To gain more respect he’s going to need to mix things up.
UNDERRATED: Patrick Wilson
This may have been a name you wouldn’t have even thought of… and that’s the point! Not enough people seem to take him seriously as a leading man, and they should be. Maybe the character demonologist Ed Warren will ring a bell. If you haven’t seen the Conjuring Universe, take this as your sign to have a movie night.
Fans love to see him on the big screen no matter the role. He’s known for putting in the work, especially in Season 2 of Fargo. It doesn’t matter what he’s starring in, he’s sure to steal the show. There’s a lot to be said for someone who is constantly working hard to make it big.
OVERRATED: Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp is a classic name. If you’re unfamiliar with him… where have you been? Do Pirates of the Caribbean, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or Alice in Wonderland ring any bells? However many fans wish we could go back to his Nightmare on Elm Street or Edward Scissorhands days. This time was clearly his prime.
Unfortunately, a lot of people think it’s all been downhill from there. Now his best times are far far behind him. Though he was great ( key word was) now he’s playing the same wacky characters. They all have this crazy mentality and it feels like the same thing over and over again.
UNDERRATED: Ben Mendelsohn
Talk about someone who can do it all! It’s rare these days to see someone play all kinds of different characters. It could be a junkie or a powerful Wall Street icon. It really doesn’t matter, any role he takes, we know he’ll do it well. Ben Mendelsohn has proved time and time again how worthy he is of the spotlight.
You know and love The Dark Knight Rises, Rogue One, and Captain Marvel. And what do all these fan favorites have in common? That’s right you guessed it, Mendelsohn! If you see his name on a casting last you know it’ll be something worth watching. He’s skillful and will put his all into any character.
OVERRATED: Nicole Kidman
We know, it’s crazy for one of the most consistently ranked highest-paid actresses to be considered overrated. It’s sad but true. She may be successful but it doesn’t mean she’s doing the best job. When looking at her reviews it’s difficult to find a decent one. It seems to be hard to get any decent performance out of her.
Fans attribute a lot of her popularity to the great directors who’ve worked alongside her. It really does take a village. Just because you’ve loved her movies like Moulin Rouge or The Others doesn’t mean it was because of her acting. The public has spoken… She needs to step it up!
UNDERRATED: Paul Dano
It’s quite unfortunate that this name might not ring a bell for a lot of people. His debut was in The Newcomers back in 2000. He then went on to star in Little Miss Sunshine and 12 Years a Slave. He’s such a fantastic actor, so why do not many know who he is?
Maybe he’s not talked about in the mainstream media because he doesn’t look like the typical ‘leading man.’ Regardless, we’re always happy to see him on our screens. This guy is going places so don’t expect this to be the last time you hear his name. If you have seen one of his stellar performances, now’s the time.
OVERRATED: Zooey Deschanel
Seeing this face on screen can be disappointing and quite painful for many. Most times she’s on screen it feels like a struggle trying to watch her act. You definitely recognize these big eyes from productions like Elf, 500 Days, or New Girl. We can applaud her effort for trying to diversify the characters she plays, but it hasn’t been effective.
She gets an A for effort. Although we love the things she’s played, we can’t say the same for her acting job. She’s gotten very lucky with casting but it could easily run out. She either needs to step out of the spotlight or step up her game.
UNDERRATED: Michael Shannon
Does this name ring a bell? No? Well after reading this we hope you won’t forget it. He started with smaller roles like in Groundhog day. Afterward, he would go on to star in some of Jeff Nichols’s movies’ like Take Shelter. The two are known for working together and we hope to see more of this duo in the future.
No matter what character he’s playing, Michael Shannon is sure to wow you. Even when he’s a supporting character he plays his part so well, some may even say he steals the show. Revolutionary Road won the actor the oscar for the best supporting role. Though he only had a couple of scenes he truly made his mark, especially since this was the only oscar the film won.
OVERRATED: Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway or simply the unassuming heroine, you decide. Looks like many fans can’t tell the difference in the first place. It’s easy to say she lacks any range. Anytime we see her on screen we know exactly what kind of character to expect… and where’s the fun in that. It was all new and exciting when she was in Devil Wears Prada, but it got old, fast.
However public opinion had little impact on her career considering she was one of the highest-paid actresses in 2015. She’s also won Academy, Golden Globe, and Primetime Emmy awards. Now imagine what she’d be capable of if she mixed things up a bit.
UNDERRATED: Zac Efron
Though Disney Channel may have been what put him on the map, he’s truly made a name for himself. There’s a lot to be said for his efforts to rise above films like Highschool Musical. He hasn’t stuck to lighthearted comedies and has truly made an effort to branch out and demonstrate his skills.
His comedy efforts in Neighbors and Baywatch are hilarious! If you haven’t seen Charlie St. Cloud then you’re missing out on a genuinely heartfelt tear-jerker. Oh, and who could forget him in The Greatest Showman? He’s come a long way and has only continued to improve. His range is impressive and we’d love to continue to see more of him.
OVERRATED: Melissa McCarthy
Fans loved seeing her Bridesmaids but then it all seemed to be downhill from there. At first, many perceived her as fun but eccentric. Later it seemed she was always playing a gross pathetic woman. Too much of anything isn’t good and this role repeated over and over again can get tiresome. It’d be nice for her to mix things up a bit.
She has the talent to go far but no good can come from her hyper-fixating on this one stereotype. It’s clear she’s gotten comfortable but we wish she’d branch out a little more. Melissa McCarthy could make a bigger name for herself, but only if she stepped out of her comfort zone.
UNDERRATED: Oscar Isaac
Despite his name literally being Oscar we’re also shocked to hear he’s never won one. There are so many movies you might recognize him from so how are people not talking about him more?! We’re here to set things right and give credit where credit is due. Out of all his films, there are so many we’d give him awards for.
Star Wars: The Dark Night Rises, Robin Hood, The Addams Family 2, you name it, they’re all worth the watch. If you see Oscar Isaac mixed in with cast names you know it’ll be a production worth watching. Not only has he never won an Oscar for these films but he’s never even been nominated! Hopefully, that’ll change soon!
OVERRATED: Kristen Wiig
Shes an actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer, wow what a mouth full. The question is, should she be taking on so many roles or simply work on perfecting her acting. You’ve probably seen her in Bridesmaids, Knockedup or Adevntureland. You know Kristen Wiig’s face but that might not necessarily be a good thing.
Though she’s known for her humor it may not be enough to please her fans. At some point she’ll need to buckle down and start pursuing more serious roles. The issue arises when she takes things a little too far and misses the whole idea the writers were trying to go for in the first place.
UNDERRATED: Kristen Stewart
Most of us know her and love her from none other than the Twilight Saga. However, we’d be lying if we said this was all she was good for. She’s a woman worthy of a lot more recognition. Ever since the series came out she continued to grow and try out different roles.
Maybe the names Underwater, Charlie’s Angels, or the Snowhite remake ring a bell. She was receiving so much hate for playing Bella Swan that many critics were overlooking all the great work she’s done since then. There’s a lot more to this actress than vampires and love triangles. She’s easily redeemed herself and is worthy of praise.
OVERRATED: Scarlett Johansson
Lucky for this actress she’s been in a number of good movies like Match Point, Black Widow, Don Jon, and many more. These names must ring a bell as they’re loved by many fans. Unfortunately, her acting hasn’t done them much justice. It could be for a multitude of reasons but it’s clear to everyone she’s trying too hard.
It’s movies like Lucy that make people question her acting abilities. We’re not sure if she’s cocky or stressed out when on screen, but either way, she needs to chill out. For starters, fans would like to see her in less serious roles. It’s always good to let loose and have fun and playing characters like this would definitely help her public image.
UNDERRATED: Kristen Bell
This actress isn’t talked about enough, partly due to the unfortunate hand she was dealt. Though she may be talented, it’s hard to realize when the majority of the movies she’s in are below-average comedies. Hopefully, she can secure better roles in the future so her career can really take off.
Who didn’t love her as Veronica Mars or Sarah Marshall? No matter the character she had us on the edge of our seats with our eyes glued to the TV. Even if you don’t recognize her face you definitely know her voice from none other than Frozen. That’s right she’s the voice of Anna! Hopefully, roles like these can provide her with even more opportunities.
