A Whale of a Breath

Sperm Whales are incredible creatures’ and they open up the program with an explanation about their hunting. The whales take in enough air to dive down further than 1000 meters, and stay under for up to 90 minutes. As they dive’ the pressure increases 100-fold, to the point that their lungs are crushed to 1% of their normal capacity.

With those challenges, they eat hundreds of pounds of squid and fish, up to 1 ton a day.
