Refuge and Life from a Lost Age

This underwater oasis is home to over 90% of the world’s fish species, something no place on Earth comes close to. Researchers found a type of octopus that arrived to the area 15 million years prior, and is responsible for a wide number of deep sea octopus species seen around the world today.

Anglerfish looking like a primordial creature have some of the largest mouths and teeth among fish. Weirder still, the sea toad is a fish, whose fins evolved to be used as feet to allow it to shuffle along the seafloor, and even mutilates its own dorsal fin on purpose to allow it to camouflage itself better.
