Diving Through a Strange Landscape

Surprisingly maybe, given the barren wasteland of the Arctic above, the ocean below is a teeming paradise of life, though maybe not at first site. The water’s are extremely fertile because of ‘marine snow’, or the refuse of organic matter that drifts down from higher waters of the ocean.

The whale excrement, fish scales, and dead skin of various sea creatures cakes the seabed, and also provides an oasis of nutrients for organisms living in the depths of the ocean.
