You: Saint Nicholas believed in kids enjoying their childhood, but at that time it was pretty hard since boys and girls younger than 10 had to work to support their families. He gave what he could to these kids, such as homemade food, clothes, and even furniture.

The thing is, he couldn’t find a place to put the items so the children could find them. According to legends, he noticed girls stockings hanging from the fireplace which gave him an idea. From then on, kids started leaving their stockings out hanging in hopes that Saint Nick would visit them that night.
