You: The wreath has been used as a symbol of power and strength since classical antiquity and in Rome and Greece, important figures like kings and emperors often wore laurel wreaths as crowns. They believed that the crown embodied the values of their sun god, Apollo.

Wreaths

Evergreens were put in wreaths by ancient Europeans to symbolize strength because evergreens live through harsh winters. Since wreathes specifically evergreen represents tenacity and everlasting life, they were often used in Christian funerals of important people such as saints and martyrs.
