Christmas Was so Much Better in the 80’s

There Were More One Income Families

This is a good and a bad thing for different reasons but when it comes to Christmas, the gifts due to having less money in the house were sometimes more valued than they are today.

Because we got less throughout the year, birthday and holiday gifts were always very special and appreciated, and most parents had to save up money most of the year to buy them for their families.

There Were More One Income Families

This also meant that more of the gifts were likely to be homemade, which receiving handmade mittens and a hat wasn’t super exciting as a child, now we look back on those charming gifts with hearts full of nostalgia.
