Boy Builds Tiny House In His Backyard

Posted by Josh

These Houses Are Trendy, But Not Trending

Despite the increased exposure of the growing trend of down-sizing homes, the average new home is still steadily getting bigger, on average about 1,000 square feet larger than they were in 1973. Only around 3000 homes of the 1.5 million listed last year were tiny homes, and that is for a few reasons.

These Houses Are Trendy, But Not Trending

One is that the movement is and has remained secretive. These houses aren’t all over the place and in the middle of some empty plot of land. Many people live in these houses in the backyard of someone else. The other is bureaucracy. Most cities have laws that have a minimum size for a house, and this prevents these houses from becoming much more popular.
