Woman’s Thread About A Stranger On The Train Asking Her For Help

Public transport can be a great place to watch the world go by, right? Although many of us hope we blend into the background and get to enjoy our journey without talking to anyone else, one woman was about to grow closer to a stranger than she ever believed.

The passenger needed help. It was supposed to be a regular night. That was until a brush with a stranger on a train was about to change this woman’s life forever.

Now, she had to tell the planet all about how meeting the person in need had opened her eyes to the world.

In Her Thoughts

Cats. They bring a lot of joy to many of our lives – until they don’t.

Many of us love our four-legged friends, but we can often find ourselves worrying about them whenever they’re sick.

One woman found herself caught up in her own thoughts while she was traveling home.

In Her Thoughts

But there was another stranger on the journey that was about to snap her out of her mind in an instant.

Distracting Her Mind

Erynn Brook is a keen writer and storyteller, but something as on her mind.

It turned out that one of Erynn’s cats had an ultrasound, and now the worried owner was waiting to hear back about the results.

Thankfully, she had just the story to share with the world about a strange encounter. Erynn met a girl on the train.

Distracting Her Mind

Little did she know that this was the beginning of something life-changing.

Another Night

It was just another day in April, and Erynn boarded the subway hoping to get home.

Sadly, all the worries with her cat seemed to have taken over Erynn’s life.

The writer admits that she has been caught up in her mind, but someone was about to snap her out of her thoughts.

Another Night

Erynn stood up to get off the train when a girl across from her seat began to talk.

The Piece Of Paper

Erynn has already spotted the girl looking in her direction but decided not to pay too much attention to her fellow passenger.

That was until she realized the girl was trying to ask her a question.

Erynn was supposed to get off the subway and continue worrying about her cat.

The Piece Of Paper

However, she looked down and realized the girl had a laminated piece of paper pointed in her direction.

Vital Information

It turned out the piece of paper was the girl’s seizure plan.

Erynn panicked that the girl was having a seizure, but it turned out she was preparing herself for one.

The girl wanted Erynn to sit with her until her stop. However, the writer was having none of it.

Vital Information

She wanted to sit with the stranger until the girl needed to leave the train, even though the girl asked Erynn to ask someone else.

A Sudden Discovery

Almost as soon as Erynn sat down, the girl began to have her seizure.

Amazingly, the girl had already moved her things out of the way and prepared her scarf to fall onto as she seizured.

Erynn quickly read through the plan, but it was only then she discovered the truth. The stranger was just 18 years old.

A Sudden Discovery

Now, Erynn needed to busy herself following the steps outlined in the plan.

All The Information

There was everything a stranger could need to help the young girl through her seizure.

It listed everything that Erynn should do as well as the things she should avoid. Plus, the girl had even written out any vital information anyone might need about her medication, emergency procedures, and the length of her seizures.

All The Information

Thankfully, it took just three minutes for her to come around.

The End Of The Line

It looked as though Erynn wasn’t ready to give up just yet.

In fact, the writer wanted to make sure the girl got home safely – even if that meant missing their stops and riding to the end of the line.

Erynn would simply ride back with the girl until they made her stop again. That wasn’t all.

The End Of The Line

Erynn wanted to know if the girl had the medication she needed, but she only had one left.

Another Struggle

It turned out that the girl needed to get her prescription refilled.

This was just another part of her daily life that she needed to undertake every day.

Thankfully, this was the conversation the girl needed for a few moments before she suddenly started to seizure once again.

Another Struggle

Erynn returned to the seizure plan, knowing it was the only anchor in the situation that gave her the help she needed.

The Sudden Realization

Some of us grow used to our medical conditions, especially when they affect our everyday lives.

However, Erynn couldn’t believe that the girl next to her could have up to four seizures a day. As if that wasn’t enough, they could last up to 60 minutes at a time.

That meant this girl could be vulnerable to the rest of the world at multiple times throughout the day.

The Sudden Realization

But this was her life.

Sticking To The Plan

The girl’s stop eventually arrives, and Erynn wants to know if she’s ready to get off. The girl replied, “I’m just so tired, I want to go home.”

Erynn knew that calling the emergency services was one of the worst things she could have done as the pair were now so close to the girl’s home.

Sticking To The Plan

They both clambered off of the train and decided to sit in the station to calm down.

Preparing Herself

Unfortunately, daily seizures were something the girl had grown used to.

Thankfully, it meant that she was prepared for anything that might come her way.

The girl warned Erynn that she might have to lie on the floor if things got too bad, and the writer prepared herself just in case.

Preparing Herself

Erynn wanted to be ready in case the girl suddenly fell off the chair throughout her next seizure.

Caring For The World

Erynn’s time in the world meant that she was used to looking after other people.

Now, she was determined to do anything that it took to make sure the girl on the train made it home safely.

They could make it in one go, or they might have to take shifts until they made it through the front door.

Caring For The World

Either way, there was no way that Erynn was going to leave the girl alone.

A Short Walk

Thankfully, the girl’s home was a short walk from the platform.

However, the pair needed to make sure she could make it up the stairs. Erynn soon learned that this was the girl’s first seizure of the day.

However, the day before was a different story as she’s had two.

A Short Walk

Erynn continued to guide the girl through it all making sure that she was conscious.

One Last Push

Erynn knew the worries many people face and reassured her new friend that she didn’t want to come inside her home, just make sure that she made it safely to the door.

All they needed to do was make it to the door before Erynn would turn and leave.

One Last Push

Although the girl initially protested, she soon gave in to the offer of help from the stranger.

Several Triggers

It looked as though the girl needed to keep talking to keep herself awake. She was tired and needed to make it home.

Thankfully, the monitor on her finger let the pair know things were settling down.

That was until another train flew through the station. It turned out that fluorescent lights and loud noises were enough to trigger another seizure.

Several Triggers

They had to make it out of the station.

A Normal Life

Although having a seizure on the train seemed dangerous, Erynn soon learned that one of the girl’s previous seizures had happened while she was at the gym.

The writer confessed that she didn’t go to the gym without anything standing in her way, yet this 18-year-old was determined to live a normal life.

A Normal Life

All she had was her laminated paper to keep her safe.

Home At Last

The two women eventually made it to the door of the girl’s building, and Erynn knew that she could finally leave her in the safety of her own home.

The girl was grateful to the kind stranger, yet Erynn couldn’t help but notice the girl’s scarf.

It was the thing that had kept her head safe all night.

Home At Last

However, she was now wearing it around her neck, just like anyone else.

The Scarf

Erynn couldn’t take her mind off the scarf. Her thoughts were filled about her cat’s scan results at the start of the night, but now she was thinking about a girl and her scarf.

The Scarf

The girl had carefully folded it to make sure she was safe before reaching out to someone that she had never met in the hopes they would help her through the seizure.

There To Help

The girl was prepared to go through the entire seizure on her own.

After all, she had grown used to having multiple seizures a day and knew what she needed to so.

Erynn felt as though she didn’t help the girl. She was just there to make sure that no one interrupted the girl and that she could make it home.

There To Help

All the girl wanted to do was make it to her house.

Telling The World

The writer wanted to share the story of the girl on the train.

However, it wasn’t to try and prove to the world that she had stepped in to help, or even highlighting how brave the girl was to live with her seizures.

Telling The World

Erynn wanted everyone to understand how the world treated people living with a disability, and how having access to the world didn’t mean there was care in the community.

The Emergency Services

Many of us learn that we should call 911 whenever there is an emergency.

However, that wasn’t what the girl on the train needed. She needed the help of a stranger.

Erynn admits that she is one of the many that would have usually called for an ambulance.

The Emergency Services

That was until she heard the girl’s whisper for help and noticed her laminated paper.

Searching For Help

The girl on the train wanted to get home. However, her life is plagued by bright lights and loud noises that could bring her world crashing down at any moment.

Erynn knew that calling for an ambulance would have cost the girl a fortune and wasn’t what she needed to make it back to her front door.

Searching For Help

All the girl needed was a little help from a stranger.

Looking For Life

Erynn knew the girl had seizures more regularly than she ate breakfast.

This was a fact that she couldn’t shake. However, the girl was still out in the world trying to live the best life that she could.

Looking For Life

Although Erynn knew the girl was prepared, she couldn’t shake the feeling that the girl could find herself in a host of dangerous situations while having a seizure.

Caring For Others

The writer confessed that she always wants to make sure that everyone makes it home safely, no matter the situation.

In fact, Erynn states that she would drive everyone home from the bar if she could, but she doesn’t have a way to keep the world safe.

Caring For Others

Now, Erynn worries that not everyone is building a world of safety and security.

Going It Alone

In fact, Erynn continued to state that we have built a world where an 18-year-old must take public transport alone and prepare herself for a seizure before hoping a stranger will sit with her.

To top it off, the girl didn’t want to be an inconvenience.

Going It Alone

She wanted Erynn to get off at her stop and leave her to make it home alone, even though she was still having seizures.

Convenience Over Community

That’s not all. Erynn feels the world has now become reliant on convenience and not helping others in the community.

The writer could have pulled the emergency alarm and left the girl on the train while walking away feeling as though she saved the day.

Convenience Over Community

However, she couldn’t leave someone that had put all of her trust in a stranger on the train.

The point of it all

Erynn knows that emergency services have done some incredible things and saved many people’s lives over the years.

However, they weren’t needed. All the girl needed was her scarf and the piece of paper.

The point of it all

Plus, the girl confessed that she would ask someone else who looked “nice” when Erynn Had to go, as long as she wasn’t an inconvenience.

Mere Moments

It took just 30 minutes from meeting the girl on the train for the pair to make it safely to her door.

Although Erynn was there to help, she knew the girl didn’t need it. In fact, she made it to the door on her own with just a little guidance from her new friend.

Mere Moments

The girl never expected Erynn to stay with her all the way, even though she must have looked “nice” too.

A Better World

Erynn wants the world to learn from her story and know that we all need to work together to build a better community.

Although she could have left the girl when she reached her stop, Erynn couldn’t bring herself to leave a girl in need.

A Better World

Now, she hopes the community can work together to build a better world for everyone – no matter how big or small.
