When you think about a building, the scaffolding doesn’t really add to it, it just keeps the building together. As a parent it’s easy to jump in and direct, but when you watch and observe, you’re better able to support the needs of your child and encourage their personal direction.

Funnily enough, watching and observing actually allows you to be better engaged with your kids. It also shows them that you’re being attentive and opens a space for them to approach you. Being engaged and open leads to a stronger family connection.
