In our day and age bathing suits are made with less fabric and show more skin. But in the past bathing suits were way more conservative.  The wooden bathing suit was designed to help you float and keep your head above the water.
As you probably guessed it didn’t really catch on, women found it too heavy to walk around in, not to mention very unflattering!
