War Veteran Makes Unlikely Ally While Solving a Mystery

The last thing you might think is on the mind of a soldier are unavoidable casualties. We’re all humans though, and all of us have a sense of empathy in some form or another. As a World War II veteran, the only thing that was on the mind of Clarence Smoyer was the image of a young woman in Cologne, Germany that September day back in 1944, as she fell to the ground from her car. Unsure of her status after that day, Clarence dreaded the worst. On top of that, the last thing he remembered was being the one to cause the accident. While searching for clues, one unexpected stranger would turn out to be Clarence’s greatest ally. And as it turns out, they have a bit of a history together.
