Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. is considered to be one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century. He was a baptist, a minister and an activist who spoke out about civil rights. He was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and led a nonviolent protest in order to fight for racial equality. In 1955 he led the Montgomery bus boycott and in 1963 he organized the March on Washington, where he delivered his most famous and influential speech “I Have a Dream” which is still recited to this day.

He was assassinated back in 1968, when he was only 39. It was a great loss but even though we lost the person, the hope and resistance he represents still lives on.
