During the late 1920’s to the 1930’s, life certainly wasn’t easy nor glamorous for most people. Migrant workers had to be prepared to live very affordably and save every last penny, as you can see this man doing in the photo.

This man is making himself a meal with probably just about everything he had- a simple meal probably made of canned vegetables and such. This might look and sound horrible to the average person in 2019, but it was better than starving while they waited for better days to come.
