When you think Times Square, the first thing that comes to mind is bright lights and neon signs. This picture might make it look like this crowd is a line for a performance or premier, but that’s actually not the case.

These people are actually just waiting in line to try and get a sandwich or a cup of coffee. This photo was taken on February 13, 1932, when the Great Depression was in full swing and people were really struggling to get food in their mouths and on their tables.
