Here’s another big-name university. Reed is based in Portland, Oregon and also excels in the liberal arts. Its alumni are very successful, over 100 of them have become Fulbright Scholars, 67 are Watson Fellows, three of them are Winston Churchill Scholars and 32 of its former students are Rhodes Scholars. All together its alumni are 4th in the country in terms of getting Ph.D.’s after graduating. It also has a long history of campus activism.
