It Started out as an Investment Opportunity

There were four men that created and ran the event; Artie Kornfeld, Michael Lang, John Roberts, and Joel Rosenmen and they were all in their twenties.

Ironically enough, Woodstock is basically synonymous with the 1960s counterculture, but this group was basically the epitome of everything else but the counterculture.

It Started out as an Investment Opportunity

They were well educated and well-off, and their original plan was to invest in the building of a recording studio.

Instead they ended up abandoning this idea, changing course to planning an outdoor music festival instead.
