It Didn’t Actually Take Place in Woodstock

The initial plan for the music festival was for it to take place at Howard Mills Industrial Park in Wallkill, N.Y., about 30 miles from the town of Woodstock.

This idea got binned when citizens of Wallkill succeeded in banning the event only a month before the event was to occur.

The organizers were running out of options, and turned to a resident of a town 70 miles away- Bethel.

They met with a local real estate agent who gave them the idea for the final destination- Max Yasgur’s dairy farm.
