People Who Make Selling Online a Nightmare
The internet has always been a marketplace for people to buy and sell. Whether it be Facebook, Craigslist, or Etsy, there are a ton of places people can advertise second-hand items or products available for purchase. The only trouble is dealing with a special kind of crazy you can only find online! Everyone’s always trying to get the best bargain possible, but the lengths they will go to do so are mind-boggling. Even “Free” is too high a price for these people! Whether you’ve ever tried to sell something online, or advertise your services, you will probably be familiar with some of these types of people. For now, let’s have a laugh at their insane behavior from a safe distance.
They Want Payment to Pick Up
When looking up second-hand products online it’s advisable to search in your area. You might find a great deal on a cheap or free item, but if it’s too far of a drive it might not be worth your while. However, if you ever find yourself in that situation you might just want to leave the seller alone, unlike Garry here.
For some reason, he thinks the seller owes him compensation for the gas he’d use to pick up the microwave. Too bad Garry understands that he isn’t entitled to a microwave. Better keep looking because we doubt this seller is going to shell out the $25 bucks. Next time search a little closer to home!
They Leave Bad Reviews (For No Reason)
It looks like this person was pretty persistent when it came to their crusade for free artwork! They simply weren’t willing to give up and sent this artist five messages over the course of four minutes. Do you think it worked out in the end? If your answer was “yes” then you haven’t been paying very good attention to this article!
The most hilarious part of this string of messages is the threat to leave a bad review. How can they possibly review something they never received? That’s like leaving a one-star rating for a restaurant you never ate at because you weren’t willing to pay for the food! This person clearly needs to learn the rules of life the hard way.
They Haggle Lower When Told Their Offer Was Too Low
Haggling is a delicate art, anyone who has been to an open market will be able to tell you that. While some prices are fixed and aren’t worth bargaining, others will be a little more flexible. When approaching a seller you want to get a sense for how flexible they’re willing to be. But this person right here didn’t pick up on any of that.
The seller was quite clear that they didn’t want to go any lower than $205, but this buyer either didn’t read the message or didn’t care because he replied with a $150 offer. the seller was pretty polite, instead of telling him that he’s an idiot who can’t haggle, he simply said the offer was too low. And what did the buyer do? Offer something even lower!
Sarcasm Doesn’t Affect These People
Artists and creators of all types are used to having their work devalued by people who expect to get things for free. It must be super frustrating to get requests for an unpaid work day in and day out, and this person decided to take the bait and play along for a little bit. Looks like this “choosing beggar” didn’t catch onto the sarcasm!
We wonder how long it took for them to figure out they were being trolled. It must’ve been pretty sweet to mess with the kind of person who causes them trouble on a regular basis. Though we’re guessing the best method to deal with these people is to ignore and block them from contacting you again.
They Try to Bargain Backwards
This person is using a technique I’d like to name “backward bargaining”. When your offer is too low for the seller you simply request to get the item for free. This convoluted tactic may scramble their brain enough for them to actually give it to you! Or they might just end up being passive-aggressive and you won’t get what you wanted.
Usually, the latter is the outcome. You have to appreciate the seller’s scathing remark, maybe that’ll teach this person not to whine about having to pay for things. But the more likely scenario is that they will try this again with another poor soul trying to sell something on social media. I take pity on the next person they try to scam.
They Want Things Brand New and Also Free
When looking to get free second-hand items online you must be prepared to compromise. You can end up scoring some great clothes or technology with no cost to you, just so long as you’re willing to accept a bit of wear and tear. But the person who published this post didn’t seem to be aware of that, he wanted something beyond the realm of reality.
In a group named “Totaly Free Stuff,” this dude expects to find someone giving away a brand new pair of AirPods! Not only does he want them brand new, but he demands to see physical proof that they are the real deal. This guy has very high standards when it comes to things people are giving away for free.
They’re Rude When You Outsmart Them
This clever seller has found a creative loophole when it comes to people making a ridiculously low offer. He agrees to whatever price they put on the table, only to add a pickup fee to make up for it. After all, when someone tries to lowball an offer that much, isn’t it fair that the seller tries to compensate himself?
The funny part is that this buyer seems to think that he’s in the right, and rudely informs the seller to “gain a brain”. I think you might be the one who needs to gain a little common sense, bud. You either have to pay a fair price or not bother to make an offer in the first place.
When They Do Pay They Pay Poorly
People use the internet to purchase more than second-hand items, it’s also handy if you want to find services. Babysitters, handymen, and similar professions are often sought out via social media. But in cases like the one in the image below, the potential employer isn’t looking to hand out too hefty of a payment for work. Or any reasonable payment at all, apparently.
According to my calculations, this person is looking to hire an editor to work for LESS than five cents per word! This isn’t the 1800s, mate, things cost just a bit more than that these days! Perhaps he’s a time traveler who just hasn’t taken inflation prices into account. Whatever the reason, I don’t think he’ll find an editor anytime soon.
They Think They’re Entitled to Designer Bags
High-quality and designer items will usually have a large price tag on them. Nevertheless, you can still score brand names at a fraction of the price, just don’t expect it to be dirt cheap. While $250 is far from pocket change, it’s still quite low in comparison to the price of a brand new Gucci bag.
But this student living with their parents doesn’t care. This bag is just as much of a necessity to them as food and water! They’re only willing to pay a fifth of the asking price, which is a great deal we might add. She better ask her parents for a major raise in her allowance if she wants to carry this tote!
They Expect You to Drive Them Around
This person seems to think he can hire a private chauffeur for free via Facebook. Nothing wrong with trying to hitch a ride with someone who happens to be going in the same direction, but all those specifications in that demanding tone isn’t going to win them any friends. If they’re really going to be that picky they might as well hire a cab.
And after all that, someone was still willing to offer them a ride! They made more than a fair offer, a trip downtown in exchange for parking. But the original poster wasn’t having it! They wanted a ride, gas, and parking on the house. If they’re not willing to pitch in a cent they’ll end up having to walk.
Use Confusion
Selling a car can get pretty annoying with buyers like this. It’s not like an item of clothing or old books you can afford to give away for free. This is something you likely spent a good bit of money on, you need to get at least some of that investment back. That means having to deal with people who lowball you…
This seller came up with a creative way to deal with people who can’t comprehend “no offers”. Just bamboozle them with conflicting information. It seems to have worked in this case. Maybe this person will think twice before haggling with someone who isn’t interested in low offers.
People Don’t Understand What “Sold” Means
Looks like this guy doesn’t seem to understand the concept of “sold”. I imagine him hanging outside grocery stores, pointing to people’s shopping bags, and asking, “How much for that bottle of orange juice?”. He must have really wanted that 30 inch TV, so much so that he had to be told several times that it was gone before he got the message.
Maybe his sheer desire for the TV caused his brain to temporarily stop malfunctioning. After he finally understood that he could NOT buy the TV he ended the conversation with the seller quite rudely. As if he wasn’t the one who was wasting the other person’s time. This guy’s got a lot of nerve and no TV set.
They Pay for Services with Exposure
Some people try to hire services online and try to get away with paying a ridiculously low fee. But look at the bright side, at least those people are trying to pay something, some people try to get people to work for free! Here’s a newsflash for this poster; people can pay their bills with exposure! They need actual money to do that.
You could stick their face up on a billboard in Times Square, but if people aren’t willing to pay them for their service what good will it do? Just as the commenter below said, you have to give people money for their work, it doesn’t matter if they’re a photographer, a plumber, or even a lion tamer.
People Don’t Know How to Haggle
This person clearly has no idea how to haggle. When you give an initial offer and the seller says no you’re not supposed to go even lower. Maybe they were banking on the seller not knowing how numbers work? Confusion is an interesting tactic, but it definitely didn’t work here. Maybe the seller should hit them with a “this isn’t the item you’re looking for.”
It’s funny how the seller actually tried to point out to this misinformed buyer that $80 is less than $100, not that it helped very much. Whatever it is they were trying to buy will probably remain out of their reach, unless they’re willing to shell out the original asking price. I hope they didn’t make another offer for $60!
He Couldn’t Be More Exposed
A lot of the time people try to take advantage of small-name photographers. They figure they’re just happy for the exposure and will gladly work for free…this couldn’t be further from the truth. Everyone deserves compensation for their work no matter how many years of experience they have. That said, it takes a lot of nerve to offer a Pulitzer winner “exposure” in return for free labor.
It’s also pretty ridiculous that they “don’t know how to compensate” the photographer for their time. Did they forget how everyone else in the world is compensated for their work? This person might have nerve, but they can’t seem to find a clue.
Total Brain Fart Moment
This person was dying to get their hands on a Nintendo Switch. Whenever a new console comes out people rush to the stores, but not everyone can afford the latest and greatest. That’s why buying second hand is such a great deal. This seller was offering the console PLUS two games at a bargain price. But the buyer still wanted to haggle.
It seems they were so excited to get a Switch that their brain short circuited. They want the seller to deliberately lower the value of their item just for them. It’s mind-boggling that they actually typed out and sent that message thinking it would work.
Offer a Finger They Want the Whole Hand
Some people want to have their cake and eat it, too. This user was sharing a story of goodwill towards a stranger. We’ve all heard of situations where someone offered to buy another person’s groceries when they were without money. Rarely do those stories end in the stranger asking to add items to their grocery list. This is a clear case of taking advantage of someone’s kindness.
Getting her groceries free wasn’t good enough for this woman, she wanted even more. As a result, she probably wound up getting nothing, and it would serve her right. When someone offers you a finger you don’t ask for the whole hand.
The Worst Babysitting Job Ever
We don’t get the idea of paying a babysitter pennies. They’re looking after a person’s kids, someone’s children should be worth a little more than three bucks an hour! It’s not only the pay here that’s insulting, this mother seems to be totally bitter towards babysitters to begin with. Only an absolutely crazy person would go for this nightmare of a job offer.
The most mindblowing part of this post is the fact she considers cleaning her house a BONUS. We’re positive that she got absolutely roasted in the comments, no way anyone would support that kind of entitled attitude. Hopefully, someone will talk some sense into this lady, at least for her kid’s sake!
They Think Computers Cost $1
Imagine walking into a computer store, picking out a brand new PC, and then slapping a single dollar bill on the counter as payment. I think you’d end up getting kicked out of there pretty fast! Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for people trying to purchase things online, sellers have to put up with a lot more headache from unreasonable buyers!
The buyer tried to make his plea by saying he needed the computer for school, which is a fair enough point. But to expect to buy a computer for $1? You might be able to buy a stick of gum with that kind of money, but don’t expect it to be enough for any kind of technology.
They Want Very Specific Things for Free
This person was trying to do a good deed for their 93-year-old mother, they tried to find her a recliner that was state of the art. Not only would this recliner have to be in prime condition, but they also required it to be solid colored with no patterns. Oh, and of course, the material would have to be a velvet-like upholstery. How much were they willing to pay for such an item?
The answer is zero, zilch, nada! Somehow they expected someone to have a brand new recliner, with all the specifications they listed, that was just waiting to be given away for free. We’re sure their mother is a great lady, but that doesn’t mean the chair shouldn’t be paid for!
They Want YOU to Pay THEM
Photographers and other freelance artists run into the constant problem of people not wanting to pay them. Typically these individuals claim to offer some kind of priceless “exposure” as a replacement for actual money. No one likes having to deal with those people, but they’d probably prefer them over someone like this! This person is beyond ridiculous.
Not only do they expect not to pay, but they also want the photographer to compensate them for the opportunity of photographing their event! Apparently, they think the photos of their Christmas Party are worth more than actual money. Unless their event is star-studded with individuals like Brad Pitt and Ariana Grande, we doubt this photographer will be interested!
You End Up with Weird Trade Offers
This person started out with a classic haggling technique. Sometimes it’s okay to ask for a lower price if the situation warrants it, and it looks like that was what this guy tried here. Unfortunately, he opted for some much stranger bargaining methods, and I’m not sure they ended up working out in his favor. That is unless the seller is a reptile enthusiast.
I have to wonder how exactly he came across this baby crocodile. Perhaps he lives in Florida and managed to wrangle one from a nearby swamp, or maybe he found it as a baby and raised it as his own. Either way, I don’t think the seller is going to accept it as a form of currency!
They Don’t Take “No” for an Answer
Here we have someone using another interesting but illogical tactic for haggling; repetition. They think that if they repeat the same offer over and over again that eventually the seller will submit to their will and give them the car for $2,800. Unfortunately for them, this strategy doesn’t work on anyone who has more than 2 working brain cells.
Looks like they won’t be getting that car in the end, even though he tried to negotiate the “prize”. They’ve been outbid, by a whole lot. I don’t even think he was reading the seller’s messages, otherwise, he wouldn’t have countered a $35,000 offer with his measly $2,800 bid. Hopefully, he’ll understand he lost the auction and won’t keep pestering the seller.
People Think Friendship is a Form of Payment
Here we have another person who wants to do a goods exchange instead of a typical purchase. What kind of offer have they placed on the table? A valuable item, or maybe some kind of service? Nope! They decided to go with the philosophical route and proclaim that they are willing to trade the most valuable thing on Earth; friendship. I don’t think the seller appreciated that idea.
Besides, since when does having someone as a Facebook friend mean you’re truly friends with them? Looks like they’re trying to trade away a pretty cheap friendship. No sale! Friendship might be priceless but the price tag on this item is still $950, and it’s going to remain that way.
They Will Show Up with Their Low Offer
Sometimes you want to buy an item but you just don’t have the funds, it happens to everyone. You can try haggling with the seller but if they won’t budge you’ll just have to accept it and move on. This guy, however, had a very different idea for what to do when your offer was not accepted. Instead of looking for a cheap item elsewhere, he decided to show up at the seller’s house!
Apparently, this dude drove right out to the seller’s house with $170 in cash, hoping that maybe his physical presence would persuade the seller into lowering his price. That’s a pretty unsettling thing to do to someone you met over an online marketplace! Let this be a lesson, don’t publish your address to just anyone!
They Think You Owe Them All Your Time
Some people are plugged into the internet at all times, whereas others aren’t available 24/7. No one is obligated to answer messages right away, even if they’re selling a sofa bed online. The rudest thing to do is demand a person’s attention five minutes after you’ve sent your message. It seems this buyer is making himself the biggest nuisance possible.
Not only does he expect this sofa seller to answer ASAP but he’s willing to blame him for being late to pick up his kid! Dude, your inability to manage your own time is no one’s fault but your own. If you’re that short on time you might want to stay off the internet!
They Demand Expensive Wedding Gifts
A wedding invitation is always an exciting thing to get in the mail. That is unless it comes with the kind of requests that this one did. It’s always expected that guests bring gifts to the happy couple when they’re about to tie the knot, but asking your guests for presents that meet a minimum price tag? Now that’s venturing into “rude” territory.
Looks like they tried to bribe their guest into attending with beer, cocktails, and cake. All of which they could have purchased a single serving of each for less than $250 while they skip out on this demanding bride’s wedding. You may try to talk your special day up, but if you treat your guests like gift dispensers you’re cheapening your ceremony.
They Spam You with Bad Offers
“No Negotiations” is a disclaimer that sellers usually include for a good reason. They don’t want to bother with a price below what they’re willing to sell for. This person wanted to try their luck anyway and throw out a random offer anyway. However, it doesn’t look like his haggling skills have been sharpened in a while.
He sends message after message lowering his offer, which obviously isn’t going to catch the attention of the seller. Swearing and insulting the person you want to buy from isn’t going to help you get the item you want! If anything he’s earned himself a one-way trip to Blocksville with that attitude. Not to mention eternal shame on the internet.
They Don’t Pay with Money
People who aren’t willing to pay cash for second-hand objects usually offer some kind of abstract compensation, like exposure. This person seems to want to trade something a little different, services in exchange for a used gaming system. It’s not every day that someone offers to pay with a free tattoo. We’re not sure it’s the best form of currency.
We’re not surprised that the seller refused to accept the ink in exchange for his item. We’re pretty sure any of you would say the same thing! This tattoo artist seemed to take the answer pretty poorly. We’re not sure why he was so keen on the gaming system if he thought it was broken all along!
“Free” Isn’t a Low Enough Price
There are many giving souls out there who decide to give away the items they don’t need instead of selling them. Finding something as useful as a dishwasher for free has to be an excellent bargain, even if it means you have to drive out a bit to get it. But apparently, this person thought that “free” wasn’t a low enough price.
How does someone even respond to a question like this? “Well, if that free dishwasher wasn’t enough for ya I’ll also throw in a free set of fine china!”. Not sure why this person thinks the deal needs to be sweetened anymore than it already is, but the seller knocked off half the asking price anyway.
They’re So Bad at Haggling
Some sellers are simply uninterested in negotiating their prices. It might be frustrating for those looking for a better deal, but the best course of action is to simply respect their wishes. If you can’t pay the price you better look elsewhere. In case you haven’t caught on, many people on the internet are very unaware of this golden rule.
Rather than pay up, this person is offering a little more than half the asking price. There’s no way someone firm on their price is going to go for that! Luckily this seller was experienced and had a witty retort handy for situations like this. This buyer better head over to the bank if they really want this Pontiac!
They Want Free Money!
Some people have the audacity to make a request like this because, once in a blue moon, it actually works. There’s the saying “it never hurts to ask,” and that’s true, just don’t be surprised when your request for $200 ends up getting shot down in the most passive-aggressive way possible. We think that the person replying is actually doing them a major favor.
Maybe if the sender got a job then they wouldn’t need to keep hitting people up for money. It’s a bummer that the conversation didn’t continue after that, maybe the original sender clicked on the link and ended up getting a job. Wouldn’t that be an uncharacteristically happy ending to this kind of story?
They’re Picky Beyond Belief
Trying to buy a used car is tricky business. You have to make sure you don’t end up buying a junker that breaks down before you can pull out of the parking lot, but at the same time, you want to find something that’s within your price range. This woman had the right idea to ask her friends on social media for leads, though it seems she’s being a bit too picky.
Miraculously, one of her contacts replied to her post with a car that fell exactly within her parameters. She should be thanking them! But instead of doing that she decides that this used car isn’t up to her standards. I sure hope she likes walking and taking the bus.
They Want Lunch on the House
Sometimes you try to do a favor for someone but it just isn’t good enough for them. We don’t know what the relationship between these two people is, they could be close friends or acquaintances, but the interaction between them here is absolutely priceless. this guy thought he could score a free pizza pie with his favorite toppings, delivered asap to his workplace.
But they didn’t count on having to pay for it! Typically that is how purchasing food works, not sure why they might have thought that the pizza was going to be on the house. Their buddy doesn’t seem to understand what he’s done wrong, either. He just tried to do a favor for his pal, but apparently, he didn’t meet expectations.
They Can’t Accept They’ve Been Outbid
Highly desirable items typically get a lot of attention when they’re posted online. You have to be the highest bidder if you want to take it home, something this potential buyer clearly didn’t understand. If someone’s already offered 550 you can’t come out with an offer that’s nearly half of that! this person doesn’t seem to understand that they’re under no obligation to buy the phone.
And the seller isn’t obligated to give it to them for 280, either! This was a totally pointless interaction for both parties involved, and we’re sure it was especially frustrating for the person selling the iPhone X. Though at the end of the day they’ll be up 550 pounds, that’s gotta be a silver lining!
They Think it’s an “Honor” to Work for Free
It might surprise you to know that artists get approached with requests like these on the daily. But it’s absolutely true! If it’s not someone requesting an absurd discount it’s someone wanting work done completely free. In this case, this audacious person is trying to pass this unpaid work off as a glowing opportunity for the artist. Where do they find the nerve?
The fact they said it’s an “honor” for this artist to create their logo is the cherry on top. Not only are they disrespectful, but they’re absolutely delusional! Their precious brand is probably completely unknown, they’re either blowing it out of proportion for free work or they’ve completely lost their mind.
They Lowball You Like Crazy
Before you go in to make an offer on any product it’s important you do your research. The most important thing to find out is approximately how much the item costs, that way you can avoid paying a higher price than what it’s worth. But this seller seems to think he can reverse that situation in his favor, and get away with paying a tiny sum for a pricy computer.
As you can see this strategy didn’t work, obviously. The seller was kind enough to recommend a place to purchase a computer that better suited his budget. Let’s just hope that he doesn’t try this method when talking down the price of a plastic toy.
They Want Discounts for Ridiculous Reasons
When making a lower offer it’s common to propose a price slightly lower than the original. But this ambitious buy decided to make an offer that was 10% of the original asking price! A bold move that did not end up paying off. After that strategy didn’t work out he tried something else; he played the “same name” card. But did it work?
The answer is clearly no, and I’m not sure why he thought it would work out in the first place. Have you ever wanted to sell something to someone for cheaper because they have the same name as you? The funniest part is that his name isn’t even Sheldon, and he ended up getting caught in his pointless lie.
They Try to Make Unfair Trades
Many years ago before formal currency existed people would make purchases with goods and services. Has your farmer friend got a horse you want? You could buy it off him with a ton of lumber, or something of that sort. It looks like this buyer here wants to bring that practice to modern times, though it doesn’t look like he’s having much success.
I’m not tuned into the current value of an Xbox, but my intuition tells me that it’s not worth the price of a motorcycle. The seller is being extremely patient with him, trying to wrap his brain around the terrible offer that this person propositioned. But at the end of the day it looks like he won’t be buying that motorcycle.
You Give Them a Finger They Want the Whole Hand
Sometimes people don’t want to sell anything online, they want to give away the bounty that they were blessed with to people who are more in need. This generous soul decided to forgo the Thanksgiving turkey, and instead offer it to a family who had less to eat on the holiday. Unfortunately, it looks like her post caught the eye of a greedy somebody.
It’s not enough that this charitable person is offering a free turkey, oh no. This demanding commenter had the gall to ask if her turkey could be cooked and stuffed by morning, for free of course. Just goes to show that sometimes no good deed goes unpunished, kind intentions may cause you to have to deal with people like these!
Sometimes They’re Total Creeps
If there’s anything worse than being contacted with a lowball offer it’s being harassed by someone who was never interested in buying in the first place. Looks like this guy has confused Facebook marketplace with Tinder, and thinks he can try to squeeze a date out of a lady who’s just trying to sell her bass guitar.
What a creep! This sent chills up our spine just reading it, we can only imagine what this poor woman was going through during this uncomfortable conversation. Thankfully she stood up for herself and told him to get lost, which is when he came out with an insultingly low offer. She had initially charged $150 for the bass, he offered $20 and a whole lot of harassment!
The Most Obnoxious Strategy
Now this person is trying a very interesting haggling technique, this is one we’ve definitely never encountered before. He decided to throw out a $950 offer, a little over $3,000 less than the asking price, and then threatened to penalize the seller if they didn’t accept. It’s wild that they think they have the right to drop the price by $50 every SECOND!
They obviously didn’t stick to their strategy, in the end, they waited three minutes for the seller to respond but didn’t impose any of their “fines”. We think it’s clear that the seller was never going to give in, but it’s pretty funny to see the buyer’s conviction to stick to their original offer.
Just Buy Them Elsewhere Then…
When it comes to the online marketplace people have the right to charge whatever they want. It’s up to us to do a little research and decide whether or not the price is worth our while. This person appears to be selling video games at a pretty reasonable price, but not good enough for this person! They claim they can find a better deal elsewhere.
Well, if that’s true then why are they bothering with this person’s listing? It’s baffling that they would press someone for a deal when they’ve already said they can find a better deal on these games. The obvious truth is that there is no better offer elsewhere, they’re just trying to get the seller to lower the price!
They Want Free Delivery
Here’s another case of someone not being grateful that someone is giving a valuable item away for free. They expect to get the dresser and have it delivered to them, no charge. This seller was being more than generous, but the buyer simply didn’t want to budge. They seem to think that they’re entitled to the item just because they messaged first.
Tough luck, bud. Someone who’s willing to pick the dresser up is going to end up taking it, doesn’t matter when they ask. I’m in awe of this seller’s patience, and willingness to wait for this rude person to come and pick up a FREE dresser. Not that it did any good, because they still insisted on free delivery (and ASAP)!
They Want Everything Dirt Cheap or Free
It’s one thing to try and score free things on social media, it’s a whole different ballpark to try and get free things by playing on people’s sympathy. This person thinks they can manipulate their way into free AirPods and a free Disney plus account with the threat of her daughter’s tears. I don’t think that’s going to work out for her.
And I pity the poor person who might fall into this kind of trap. If she really does have a daughter then I hope she never sees this post, she would probably be mortified to find out her mother is using her to try and get freebies from people on the internet. Let’s hope she has a good 12th birthday anyway.
They Don’t Like Jokes
There’s only one way you can really win with someone who’s giving you a lowball offer, and that’s by trying to play their game. It appears that this buyer was selling a set of kettleballs for $900, you gym enthusiasts will have to let us know if that price sounds right. At any rate, this potential buyer was not ready to pay the price for the set.
In fact, he wasn’t willing to pay anything near the asking price! Instead, he put out an offer for $100, and the seller had a counter offer ready to go. He told the buyer that he would sell for $100, however, he’d only be giving up a single kettlebell. The buyer was flabbergasted, but the seller really put him in his place!
They Don’t Understand what a Necessity Is
Some things need to be received ASAP, medication, food, water, these are all examples of things that are important to have when you need them. But a custom painting of your four cats? We fail to understand why this might be an urgent necessity. But okay, if someone desperately requires such an artwork they should be able to obtain it, just so long as they pay for it.
But this poster is on a budget, an extremely small one for that matter. Maybe if they’re struggling financially they should put their financial resources elsewhere. For five bucks maybe they could print out the original painting on some nice laminated paper? Or else they’ll just have to save up until they have enough to pay a decent price.
They Insult Your Artwork
Many people opt to get a tattoo designed by a professional, this ensures that their ink will be high quality and unique. Obviously, art has to be paid for, whether it’s hanging on your wall or tattooed on your body. But this jerk must have not gotten the memo. They may have written “please” in their initial message, but that doesn’t automatically make them a polite person.
When the artist gently informed them that there will be a commission involved they flew into a rage. They not only insulted this person’s art but also went in on their character. Pretty surprising that they consider their artwork “mediocre” when they were previously considering getting it tattooed on their body.
They Want to Support You…For Free
This Reddit poster apparently runs a program that lands him several emails like this. We imagine it can be pretty exhausting to have someone ask for your product or service for free and then invent some lame excuse for why they aren’t able to pay. We’re pretty curious what country he could possibly live in where PayPal or credit cards aren’t available options.
If a person doesn’t have the money that’s totally cool, but it’s pretty disrespectful to reach out to the owner and expect to get something for free. As the original poster wrote: Sometimes I want to reply “Dude… There are a million online services that let you put money on a virtual card to use in any currency”.
They Expect People to Have Extra PS5s
Many people will fall on hard times at one point or another, and when people find themselves in a tight financial situation they will sometimes reach out to their community for help. People have been known to help those struggling with groceries, babysitting, and even transportation. But this person seems to have a very different idea of what a necessity is.
Not only do they have their priorities totally backward while in a difficult situation, but they seem to be under the impression that some people just have extra PS5s hanging around their house. We can’t imagine anyone having a place that’s just cluttered with a bunch of extra state of the art gaming consoles, but maybe they’ll end up coming across one!
They Don’t Actually Want to Support Small Businesses
During the 2020 pandemic, many businesses fell into a difficult financial situation. Places like restaurants and bars were struggling to stay afloat, and people tried to support them as best as they could. However, it appears that some people have a very different idea of what it means to support a business. If you’re not going to pay for the food they offer they’re not going to benefit.
But from what they’re saying they’ve taken “Economics 101” so that might mean they know what they’re talking about. Though if they actually did take an economics course they most likely slept through the whole thing, at least that’s what we’d assume based on their totally convoluted logic.
They Don’t Understand What a Discount Is
Businesses often create sales and deals to entice customers to buy their products or service. Maybe you’ve come across a “buy 1 get 1 free” at a clothing store, or maybe you’ve gotten “30% off” on a new car. Whatever the offer, these types of discounts are common when making any kind of purchase. But this Twitter user doesn’t seem to think all deals are equal.
According to her, 10% off does not qualify as a discount. Though by definition, anything you would pay that is below the original asking price is literally a discount. Maybe it’s not the discount that she wanted or expected to get, but she can’t bend words to her own definitions. Either take the discount or don’t buy it!
They Ask for Bizarre Things
This is certainly a strange thing to go looking for on Facebook. Some people do use social media platforms to find custom meal delivery services or even private chefs for an event, but just some baked ham? Sounds like this person might be missing their mom’s cooking, but perhaps they should have hit up a local deli instead of making this post!
We think this is a pretty bizarre thing to look for on Facebook. Even if someone who makes home-cooked meals offered to deliver some good baked ham, we doubt this poster would be willing to pay the price. Like so many people on this list, they probably expect to get it for free, with the delivery of course!
They Think You’re Greedy for Wanting Compensation
This cake designer had enough of entitled people asking for free work from her. She ended up being featured on the BBC, no doubt representing all the hard-working artists who don’t want to give away their time for no pay. While baking cakes might be her passion she surely deserves compensation for her work, right? Well, not everyone would agree with that sentiment.
One user voiced a very different opinion in the comment section of this post. Apparently, he’s under the impression that you don’t deserve money if you like the work you do. It’s totally insane that he paints this woman as a greedy person who doesn’t deserve to be paid for her work. We definitely commend her for speaking out!
They Try to Negotiate a $2 Price Tag
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to negotiate a deal, but you better make sure it’s worth trying to lower the price in the first place! Haggling makes sense if you’re buying a used car and trying to talk down the seller from $2,000 to $1,800, but trying to bargain on an offer of $2? How much lower do you really expect the seller to go?
I’m itching with curiosity to find out what the item in question was. For $2 I can’t imagine it would be anything other than an old book or maybe a second-hand article of clothing. $2 is a pretty good deal I’d say. If I were this buyer I’d hand over the two bucks and call it a day.
They Don’t Understand How Time Works
Sometimes people are willing to pay full price for the product but aren’t willing to wait the time it takes to make it! When you need to order something as intricate as this custom made wedding cake you should be prepared to wait a little bit longer. My guess is this lady has been binging those bake-off competition shows and thinks you can make something like that in 60 minutes or less.
Newsflash: reality cooking shows aren’t the same as your local bakery. The buyer said they understood but it doesn’t really look like they do. They even had the gall to ask this baker if they were a beginner, but challenging their expertise didn’t help them get them the dream cake they wanted.
They Want Things that Aren’t for Sale
The worst way to haggle is making an offer on something that isn’t for sale! This person lost their beloved pet cat, and a glimmer of hope seemed to have presented itself. Unfortunately, the person who found their kitty didn’t have much interest in returning it, they wanted to keep it for themselves! Or rather for their daughter. What kind of lesson is that going to teach their kid?
That if you find something that isn’t yours you should go ahead and keep it? Doesn’t sound like the kind of good morals you should be instilling in your children. I hope this pet owner will be reunited with his kitty soon, looks like they might need to go through a feline version of “Taken”.
The Price is Always Too High
I suppose any price would seem too high when you expect to get things for free. This Reddit user shared this screenshot and mentioned what this hefty price tag was: $5. That’s right, you read correctly. Five bucks are too expensive for this guy, and he’s willing to forgive this seller’s wrongdoing if they give them what they want for free.
I mean, the nerve of some people? Wanting to charge MONEY for their WORK? Where does he find the audacity? In all seriousness, it’s astounding that this person tried to finagle a way into getting something for free when it was that inexpensive. He can keep his forgiveness, I don’t think it’s worth very much.
They Make Outrageous Requests
“Ask and ye shall receive” does not always accurately describe reality. This person wanted to try and give it their best shot though, what was the worst that could happen? Well, their post could end up getting ridiculed all over the internet for one thing. Not sure how he expects to get a brand new Playstation for free unless he thinks Santa browses Facebook for gift ideas in December.
Or maybe he thinks some people just happen to have an extra Playstation lying around, collecting dust and taking up space, and that he would be doing them a favor by taking it off their hands. He might be able to score a second-hand game station for a low price, but a free one? No chance.
“Take My Ramp and Build Me New Stairs”
Here’s another case of an item being given away for free, although this is a little different from other cases we’ve seen. It looks like this person is trying to get free stairs installed under the guise of a “free” wheelchair ramp. Sure you get the ramp for free, but you have to do a ton of work in order to take it!
There’s no way anyone would go for a deal as crappy as this. It’d be cheaper to buy the materials and build a new ramp yourself! Plus, anyone who would have materials for building stairs probably wouldn’t need the wood in this ramp. This is a bad deal all around, we doubt they’ll find any takers.
Clueless Pet Owner
It’s honestly hard to tell whether or not this person is being serious or not. We’ll never understand people who offer to pay less than a third of the asking price. They thought upping their $10 to $12 would get them somewhere, clearly, they’re clueless. The seller didn’t want to waste their time on this idiot, they’d rather get rid of the carrier altogether than sell it for $12.
The buyer obviously wasn’t getting the message. That or they wanted to give the seller a little attitude before ending the conversation. We feel bad for this person’s pet, they can’t possibly be pleasant to live with!
Making Up a Story
A heart wrenching story can make us feel sympathetic towards others. Sadly people will use this fact of life for their own advantage. While it’s not totally unbelievable that this person has a sick son, her story becomes dubious when she starts cursing the seller. Why would you want anyone else to suffer through an illness? She’s likely making it up in a bid to get the price lowered.
But the seller wasn’t buying this story for a second. They responded with a snarky comment, that’s when the truth came out. This person didn’t want a laptop for their sick kid, they wanted to give a lowball offer and made up a story to win some sympathy. Lowest of the low.
Free Vacation with Requirements
Vacations are never cheap. Even if you manage to travel on a budget, you’re likely going to shell out a bit for travel, accommodations, and food. This guy has the good intention of wanting to take his son on a nice trip, but for some reason he expects someone else to foot the bill. He has quite a list of requirements, too.
That’s a lot of must-haves for a totally free vacation! As is, we can’t imagine some stranger offering a trip for no charge, it’s even less likely that anyone would make sure these boxes are ticked. The only thing he’s willing to relent on is phone service! What a weird post.
Going to Hell
An influencer looking for free stuff is nothing new, but this person really stooped to a new low. People often use their small business to raise money for charity, whether it’s for marketing or purely benevolent purposes is usually irrelevant. This small business is going out of their way to give to others, sadly others don’t want to give to them.
We’re not theologists, but we’re pretty sure that not giving away free necklaces isn’t a sin. If their father really is a priest we’re sure he wouldn’t be happy to find out his name’s being used to threaten others. Giving to charity is a good deed, being nasty to a small business isn’t.
An Incredible Comeback
Artists who do commissions often get messages like these. It doesn’t matter what type of art they make, knitted goods, pottery, watercolor paintings, or digital art, someone’s going to try and trivialize their work. The real question is why they want a service they think is meaningless or “not real”. If it’s not real why ask for it in the first place?
Clearly, there’s some kind of value attached to a digital headshot, otherwise, they wouldn’t be in this artist’s inbox. But this creator wasn’t going to sit back and take their rude words, they retaliated with a pretty good comeback. Maybe all artists should take note and use this when dealing with nasty customers.
Pay to Work for Her
In today’s social media obsessed world there are all sorts of new jobs. Media and online brand influencers are incredibly common, and sometimes they’re more than a one-person production. While there are people who can handle it alone, this woman seems to want a professional photographer to join her on her escapades abroad. But she’s offering very little compensation…
Anyone who’s interested in the position will have to foot the bill for their own airfare and accommodations! Oh, and they won’t be getting any salary, either. Doesn’t sound like the kind of gig any photographer would be looking for, even if they’re just starting out. Exposure doesn’t cover travel expenses!
Absolutely Delusional Bride
Some brides will opt for buying a second-hand wedding dress in the interest of staying frugal. However it looks like this bridezilla is erring on the side of total insanity! It’s one thing to ask for a small discount, but asking the seller to cut their asking price by more than half.
On top of that, she wants free delivery thrown into the deal. We hope it’s just the stress of planning a wedding that’s making this woman lose her common sense. We can’t really blame the seller for losing their nerve. Imagine offering a quality garment at a low price only to have someone ask you to take the time to deliver it.
Aiming a Little Too High
You’d be surprised by the things you can pick up for free, in-person or online. People are constantly trying to minimize their lives by getting rid of the extra stuff they have lying around. And you know how the saying goes, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. But it’s important to remember another saying, “Beggars can’t be choosers”…
This person clearly hasn’t heard of that one. They aren’t just asking for a free headset, they want a guarantee that it’s a high-quality noise-canceling pair. You might stand a chance of picking up a free or super cheat pair of headphones, but demanding premium quality isn’t the route to go.
Just Ignore the Difficult Buyers
There are a few things people tend to splurge on, one of them is a new mattress. Nevertheless, some people don’t mind picking one up second-hand if it’s in good condition. $150 seems like a steal for a quality mattress, but that price wasn’t good enough for this buyer. Instead of answering their silly question the seller elected to ignore them entirely.
For some reason, you can rate a seller without buying anything from them in the first place! Seems pretty frustrating, especially when people rate you 1-star for no good reason. This is enough to keep plenty of people from selling online in the first place.
Discount for the Gas
One common gripe with selling things online is the buyer’s unwillingness to come pick an item up. Some people are so entitled that they expect the seller to drop it off at their own cost. That’s just not how buying second-hand works. Usually people are willing to inconvenience themselves for a good deal. This person seems to be willing to pick the item up…
…but they’re expecting the seller to cover the cost of gas! Now that’s a pretty outrageous move. We’re guessing the seller didn’t take too kindly to this request or the fact this person was calling them “buddy”. Seems just a little condescending, don’t you think?
Not Appreciating the Freebies
They say the best things in life are free, but typically those things are small, simple pleasures. Some businesses will give their customers little perks like these, just enough money for a donut and a cup of coffee. Hey, better than paying for it yourself, right? Well, this customer doesn’t seem to think so.
Whenever a business offers something for free there always seems to be someone who wants more. That’s pretty ungrateful! Two dollars might not be very much money, but T-Mobile isn’t obligated to offer it to anyone in the first place. They’re a phone service provider, as long as they give their customers what they promise they don’t really need to throw in anything extra.
Don’t Do Them Any Favors
Sometimes difficult buyers aren’t buying anything at all. They come to borrow something and get all huffy when it’s not exactly to their liking. Asking your neighbors to borrow ingredients is nothing new, people have been doing it for decades (so long as they’re close with their neighbors). Apparently this rude neighbor won’t accept anything less than the most popular brand.
What’s wrong with Hunt’s? If they were so sore about it they could’ve gone down to the store and picked up a bottle of Heinz for themselves. Spitting in the face of a good neighbor isn’t going to get you very far. The best way to respond to a favor is with a “thank you”!
A Little Bit Rude
Do people still use Craigslist? This Tweet is dated June 30th, 2021 so we assume the site still has a fair number of users. This woman was kind enough to give away her vacuum cleaner, a useful appliance that not everyone’s lucky enough to have in their homes. Too bad the person who picked it up was rude.
There’s no problem in thinking she should’ve emptied the canister, though it’s something you should keep to yourself. It’s definitely not something you should tell the seller after you’ve already picked the item up. This would probably keep her from giving away appliances in the future. Nobody likes getting an attitude from a stranger.
Stealing Their Book
Pirating online content is nothing new, even when it comes to digital books. It’s possible to illegally download an ebook for free but fans prefer to spend the money to support the authors they love. This person was totally shameless when it came to approaching the author asking for help. They didn’t want to buy their book legally and admitted it to them!
You really shouldn’t tell someone that you want to steal the book they worked hard to write. If they’re “not into online purchases” maybe they should consider a physical copy? Some things in life aren’t free, looks like this person has yet to accept that reality!
A Lot of Requirements and Not Much Pay
Parents usually want someone responsible and qualified when it comes to a babysitter. But gone are the days of hiring a teenager from the neighborhood, with the rise of the internet parents are able to get references and state their requirements for a sitter. Though it looks like this woman has a laundry list of requests!
We’re not sure how someone’s political beliefs or college education factors into whether or not they can watch your kid. To top it all off, she’s offering an extremely measly salary. Considering she wants to saddle someone with watching four kids she should be willing to shell out a little bit more than $1 an hour.
