People Who Have No Idea What They’re Talking About
You can’t be right all of the time, and no one expects you to be. Being wrong isn’t much of an issue when you’re willing to have an open mind and learn from your mistakes. It does turn into a problem when people who have no idea what they’re talking about use the internet to correct other people with their wrong opinions. It’s one thing for random people to be misguided when it comes grammar or the correct way to solve math problems, but it’s another for public figures to get in on the action.
These people have no idea what they’re talking about, and it’s honestly kind of hilarious.
Drink Your Mimosa and Eat Your Olive Oil Because You’re Clueless
What has more calories, a mimosa or a teaspoon of olive oil? It’s pretty close, but the mimosa would usually have a bit more. Let’s look at the facts here: Usually, a teaspoon of olive oil is 120 calories. Usually, an 8-oz. mimosa is 150 to 200 calories. So, a mimosa would have more calories than olive oil on average.
In this post, both of the petty commenters don’t know what they’re talking about. The mimosa in the post is most likely less than 200 calories, making the first person wrong. It’s not going to be 20% to 30% fewer calories than a tablespoon of olive oil. At 60-75% full, it would be about the same number of calories. So, no one here seems to have the right idea.
You Don’t Get It, But It’s Still Real
The Big Bang Theory is a fascinating idea: It says the entire universe started with all of its energy contained in one single point. This point then exploded, creating matter and forming all of the galaxies in the Universe, including our own Milky Way. Then this explosion (the Big Bang), left marks on the world that we can still see today in the form of radiation.
Scientists have been able to see what’s left of the universe’s initial expansion, making the theory more than a fantasy. This guy’s inability to understand science gives an interesting philosophical point to think about. Simply because you don’t understand or believe in something, doesn’t mean it’s not real.
No One Survives the Plague
The Black Death, also known as the Plague or the Pestilence, was a bubonic plague known to be the deadliest pandemic in history. Scary, we know. Even though there was an estimated death rate of up to 200 million people, it still didn’t have a 100% fatality rate. By this logic, almost the entire world population would’ve been wiped out.
It did end up taking the lives of about 50% of Europeans and 30% of Middle Easterns, which is no small feat. But it’s a far cry from this person saying the plague killed every single person it infected, without exception. It’s centuries after the plague wreaked havoc, and people still have no idea what they’re talking about.
You’re an Absolute Gowl
Saying you’re from a country can have two meanings. You can either be describing your family ancestry, or you can be talking about the place you lived in most of your life. (It can also be both!) One woman who clearly doesn’t live in Ireland tries to assert her knowledge about where her ancestry is from but gets offended when a native corrects her.
So, who’s right? Munster is, in fact, Ireland’s largest province, and it’s made up of six counties: Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford. Yes, these names are all real, and no, this gowl has no idea what she’s talking about. We’re sure this guy has very good hygiene.
Just Some Petty Guys Arguing Here
It feels good to win an argument against an internet troll who is so undoubtedly wrong. In this post, that’s not what’s happening. This is merely a classic case of two smug guys – neither of whom is completely right – having a trivial argument about whether it’s possible to use a cigarette to burn gasoline.
If you drop a lit cigarette onto a trail of gasoline, it probably won’t start the massive fires you see in the movies. So, the first guy is kind of right…. Although, we’ll never say never. However, he’s also completely wrong in saying you can ignite the gasoline but not the fumes. Gasoline produces vapors that you burn, not the liquid itself. (Who cares?)
Just Think for a Second
We live in a time where many people prioritize animal rights. This is all fine and good, as the world has a longstanding history of abusing animals (see: neglect, inhumane slaughterhouses for meat, and sport-hunting endangered species). It does become a problem when people who have no idea what they’re talking about become Social Media Justice Warriors.
This commenter needed to think for a second before commenting. Did they seriously believe someone would go through the effort of ripping out hundreds of pairs of antlers from deer for a Christmas tree? Oh, deer. Jokes aside, antlers actually DO fall out painlessly. It’s a natural process for male deer that begins in the late winter.
My Sources Aren’t Real But the Science Is
You know this woman has some serious knowledge to share because she starts her post by saying that she can’t find a source to back her up. This means everything she’s about to write comes straight up from the ideas of her imagination… and not one of these “ideas” shows that she has a clue what she’s talking about.
Do you have health problems and can’t carry a child? You don’t need a medical egg donor, she says. All you need is for your man to have sex with someone else after he does with you. Your eggs will transfer to the next woman – make sure he remembers not to take a shower in between!
It Just Occurred to Us That You Have No Idea What You’re Talking About
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has been eye-opening, especially for many Americans who don’t experience the same regular tensions as many countries in the Middle East or Asia do. It’s also led to its fair share of ignorant Americans showing the world they have no idea what they’re talking about by posting their thoughts about the war online.
Michael Knowles, an American political commentator, says the Russia-Ukraine conflict is the first “major war between civilized nations in my lifetime.” What about the Gulf War, Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008, and the wars in Bosnia and Iraq? By the way, Iraq invented civilization.
I’ve Made a Huge Mistake
I’ve made a huge mistake. Cryptic. Perfect for a Twitter post. We don’t know what the mistake is, but it’s not in this comment’s grammar. Sure, there’s a missing period at the end of the sentence, but Twitter’s casual. Uh-oh… Here comes the pretentious guy who likes to incorrectly correct people.
Replace ‘a’ with ‘an’? He’s plain wrong unless you say the words like Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders: “It’s an OOGE problem.” Now, this guy wants to tell her she can’t speak in the present tense anymore. He tells her she should say “I made a huge mistake” instead of “I’ve made a huge mistake.” Speaking of errors, what’s up with the angle of this guy’s profile picture?
The Logic Speaks for Itself
Math is hard. We know this. But there’s a difference between not being able to solve the complex problems a mathematician is trained to understand and not being able to use basic math rules from school in real life. We’d like to believe any person with half a brain could look at the problem (2+3)² and have no problem understanding why the answer is 25.
Ah, but we can’t forget the people in society who have no idea what they’re talking about. To them, 13 is the clear answer here. We’ve looked at this problem a dozen times and lost brain cells to understand they first squared the 2, then squared the 3, then added the result together. What a waste of time.
Alcohol Gets You Ahead, Marijuana Makes You Dead
If there’s anything we thought could be agreed upon by society, it’s how alcohol can seriously mess up your life. A drink here and there is a nice way to unwind and socialize with friends, but it can quickly become addictive. Along with marijuana and nicotine, it’s been viewed as a gateway drug.
So it’s pretty bold to assume this person (who obviously doesn’t have a clue what they’re talking about) strongly supports alcohol use for making you sexy and popular. Hate addictive substances all you want, but at least do it equally. For the love of all the happy hours, smoke breaks, and pot brownies out there, please be responsible.
Does Musk Have No Idea What He’s Talking About?
Here’s a golden tweet Elon Musk confidently posted in April 2022. Underground tunnels are immune to surface weather conditions, he says. He forgot to mention this is in a world without gravity. In our world, all of the water is pulled down by gravity to enter the tunnels and will flood them if you don’t pump it out.
Of course, Musk’s Hyperloop tunnel would be in an air-free vacuum, isolating it from all other weather conditions. Naturally, not only does this tunnel not exist, but it’s not even in the works. Musk gave up on it only six months after he began testing. Musk, how do you feel about having no idea what you’re talking about?
Hold On, Wait a Second…
There are 60 seconds in a minute. Each minute is 60 seconds. Agreed? Great. Therefore, two minutes is 120 seconds, three minutes is 180 seconds, four minutes is 240 seconds, and five minutes would be 300 seconds. Agreed? Wonderful. We can confidently say you’re a person who knows what they’re talking about.
But seconds are too complicated for some people to understand. This person is absolutely positive. 300 seconds is 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Even if you didn’t break down the math, this doesn’t sound right. Even after someone else did the math for him, he refused to change his mind! This is all the time we have for idiots today.
It’s Mathematical Proof That Math Is a Man-Made Construct
Many things in life are unexplainable. Those of us who practice a religion often attribute those unexplainable things to the presence of a higher power, like when we experience a coincidence that seems too good to be true. We’re still wise enough to know many things DO have explanations, though, including most of modern science.
This oblivious person used the metric system to argue for the existence of God. It’s not a bad argument if you have three brain cells. The rest of us recognize how the measurement systems were created by humans, so we set the temperature system for water to boil at 100℃ and to freeze at 0℃. Do tell us when water boils at 10℃ and freezes at 40℃ – that’s something we’d get excited about.
Yeah, Take That, Skin Cancer!
Skin cancer is the most common cancer Americans get, with 1 in 5 Americans developing it in their lifetimes. Doctors and skin care experts recommend wearing sunscreen and minimizing sun exposure to protect yourself. In case you wanted the opinion of someone who has no idea what they’re talking about, here it is!
This person says you can save yourself by actually spending more time outdoors to gradually build your defenses. This is what people did before sunscreen was invented 50 years ago, and skin cancer cases were much lower. Reality check: sun protection methods like zinc and clay originated in Egyptian times, life spans were lower back then anyway, and most of history didn’t even record skin cancer cases.
Meet My New Friend, Bacteria
You may not remember much from your teenage years in science class. However, we think it’s a pretty unforgettable moment when you look under a microscope for the first time and see how small bacteria and virus cells can be! You have to magnify the slide by 400x to see the shape of the bacteria! (We’re nerds here.)
It takes someone who truly has no idea what they’re talking about to say bacteria can’t harm you unless it’s larger than an inch. They’re talking about cockroach-sized bacteria. You could take your bacteria out for dinners and walks if they were that big. BTW: The largest bacteria ever discovered was 1 cm long, or .39 inches.
We’re Not Going to Sleep Tonight, Thanks for This
There are certainly some extreme aspects of oral hygiene that aren’t necessary. No, you don’t need the $300 toothbrush your hygienist recommended you buy to maintain a quality brushing regimen. No, you don’t have to floss after every meal or never drink soda again. Yes: It is a good idea to floss every day and invest in an electric toothbrush!
Whatever you do, please don’t go to the opposite extreme of dental care and protest the entire industry by refusing to brush or floss ever. Your body will not be “getting rid of brain toxins and old fillings,” as this guy claims. The only things he’s getting rid of are a healthy immune system and our ability to sleep at night.
This Mom Isn’t HDPPY at All
This Amazon review shows this woman has no idea what she’s talking about. We also have no idea how she got herself into this situation. Based on her review, she seems to know how to read. She seems to know how to spell the word birthday correctly. She also appears to know how to take a picture. The only thing she can’t figure out is how to connect the dots.
She’s likely a distracted and busy mom who made the absent-minded mistake of putting the D balloon in the A spot. But after going through the effort of taking a picture and posting the review, wouldn’t two seconds of reflection reveal all of the letters that were there all along?
We’ll Buzz About This One for a While
Ever worry there’s a shortage of dumb people on the internet who have no idea what they’re talking about? Here’s something to buzz about: This person says honey is made by bees and doesn’t come from plants. You could take any seven-year-old off the street and they could tell you bees use nectar from plants to make honey.
The bees play a key role in turning the nectar into honey, but they don’t simply come up with honey out of nothing. It originally comes from plants. We guess if we’re playing devil’s advocate here, the plants get nutrients from the ground and sunlight, so honey comes from the sun, and maybe also the worms.
Wasting $13,000 on a Penny Floor
There seems to be a common trait among people who have no idea what they’re talking about. They seem to assume they have an above-average level of intelligence, and it’s everyone else who is making stupid mistakes. This guy criticized a post about a creative penny floor with an “smh” comment because he thinks that 13,000 pennies are worth $13,000.
“Jokes on him,” he says, not realizing the only funny thing is his math. The pennies for this floor were only $130, which is much cheaper than going for hardwood or carpet. Even when you include the money spent on the rest of the materials, this floor is a cool and cost-saving project!
Assuming the 1900s is the 1900s
The way we refer to dates can be a bit confusing. When we’re talking about the 1900s, we’re referring to the period between 1900 and 1999. But when we’re talking about the 19th century, we’re referring to the time frame of 1800 to 1899. So when we say the late 1900s, we’re often speaking about the 1980s to the 1990s.
Assuming the 1900s is actually the 1900s, there is no logic that would indicate the late 1900s refer to the time period of 1870 to 1899. This has no grounds in reason unless you’re a person who has no idea what you’re talking about. Looks like someone needs to go back to school.
A Prime Example of Someone Who Doesn’t Know What They’re Talking About
Hey, you. You’re back? We know you just went to see if 100,000,001 is actually divisible by 17 or not. Now you know you’ll get 5,882,353. *Winks.* Anything is divisible by 17 if you try hard enough: 68, 170, 56012144, 2201194578. No matter what you multiply 17 by, you still can’t divide it by anything other than itself.
17/17 is 1. That’s it. This is why it’s a prime number. The best thing is prime numbers don’t change. Mohamed Mustafa is a great example of someone who doesn’t know what he’s talking about because you can always use 17 to arrive at a bigger number.
My Ancestors Did Not Menstruate
Menstruation is a controversial topic, from it being a taboo conversation topic in society to people claiming it wasn’t a natural process for women. This post, dating to 2019, shows that these disagreements aren’t going away anytime soon. This woman has a hot take: white women with neanderthal DNA may have had ancestors who menstruated.
She adds how women aren’t supposed to have periods in the first place. It’s not natural hormone changes – No, it’s cleaning our bodies from acidic toxins that we consume every day. Don’t forget the radiation. Maybe menstruation is also cleaning out this woman’s brain from having any idea what she’s talking about.
Bats Are Definitely Not Birds
Quite a few odd animals exist. They’re not like the animals in their assigned category, so it can be hard to determine where they fit in. For instance, the platypus is the only mammal to lay eggs. It has webbed feet and lives underwater, like a reptile. We classify it as a mammal because it’s warm-blooded and lays eggs.
The bat is another weird one, but only someone who would have no idea what they’re talking about would say a bat is a bird. It doesn’t make sense at all. Bats have fur, they produce milk, and they give birth rather than laying eggs. To respond in the style of this ignorant person: BATS ARE NOT BIRDS.
142 Pounds Is a Normal Weight
What makes someone fat? Is it defined by how someone looks or by the number on the scale? This isn’t a question we can answer for you, but it’s a question people have tried to make more objective by creating scales like the BMI. (Body Mass Index). The BMI will take into account your height, age, weight, and gender to determine if you are in a healthy weight range.
For a 5’7 woman, 142 pounds falls within the normal range. In fact, it’s right in the middle of 18.5 and 25 at 22.2, making this woman perfectly average. It’s nowhere near the overweight category, and it’s not even close to obese. This guy should try to read more.
Double Negatives in Customer Service
Customer service is a difficult job. Many people who have worked in this industry have learned how to make it easier for themselves and their customers by making the other person feel heard. For instance, the worker in this post explains they’ll say “no problem” to a customer who apologizes for being a problem. Makes sense to us!
The other person in this conversation doesn’t seem to know what they’re talking about. It’s more important for them to focus on the technicality of avoiding “double negative” language than to apply common sense when talking to people. We’re “positive” they’re not winning an award for customer satisfaction anytime soon.
Never Put Male Blood Into a Female
We’re sure you’re well aware of the blood types: A, B, AB, and O. These are all antigens. In addition, blood can be (+) for the Rh factor or (-) for the Rh factor. But if you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Fanny Bru, you probably aren’t aware there’s another category: the male and female blood types.
Knowing the key difference between men’s and women’s blood could save lives. Just like how you wouldn’t want to put AB+ blood into someone with the O antigen and the – marker, you wouldn’t want to put male blood into a female. The same goes for putting a male kidney into a female’s body. That would be crazy.
Unless You Are a Pharmacist, You Are Dead
If you live with a chronic disease, it’s pretty much impossible you’ll get to live without meeting people who act like they know what you’re dealing with. In reality, they have no idea what they’re talking about. This guy says people with diabetes do not calculate their own insulin dose without a pharmacist – otherwise, you’re dead.
The ramifications of this mean people with the illness either have a pharmacist following them around 24/7, they have to go to a pharmacy when they want to eat, or they take the magic insulin pill that never changes doses. The reality is people with diabetes successfully calculate their insulin dose every day!
Chickens…Do…Lay…Eggs…Hens….Do….Too
Society has advanced far enough to the point we don’t fully understand everything we use in our daily lives. For instance, would you be able to explain how all of the parts of your car work together to make it possible for you to use it with the simple turn of a key? What about all of the materials working hard inside your phone?
Though, some things have stayed the same. The eggs we buy in the store come from chickens. In case you’re like the person in the above post – who has no clue what they’re talking about – eggs come from chickens. Chickens include hens. Hens are female chickens. Hens lay eggs.
Now You’re Just Making Stuff Up
In the effort to make sense of senseless phenomena such as murder, we can understand the temptation to try on different concepts for a better fit. Such musings are usually best done as a personal exercise, but some people don’t really get that. They prefer to publicly pontificate without stopping to bounce their thoughts off of anything other than the inside of their skulls.
Inevitably, someone on the internet will be waiting and ready to cut them down to size when they stray too far from–well, facts. Perhaps this statement was meant to be more poetic; what we can agree on is that it’s dramatic to the point of falsehood. Sorry to interrupt your swoon!
