Both Patterson and Bailly were extremely excited to tell their families. As Bailly came to terms with the reality that he was talking with ‘the’ Michael, he could not wait to tell his wife.

As a police officer you rarely get to see the product of your efforts, and here it was 27 years on. Bailly couldn’t help but feel proud.

Patterson was excited to tell his family that he had found the officer who had helped them in their time of need all those years ago; the officer that made sure that their baby boy was brought safely into this world.
