Henry Ayer, Meyer’s stepson, still breaks down crying every time he recalls the day the army chaplain came to tell them his mother’s husband of only 55 days had crashed and presumably died.

He remembers his mother simply “collapsing to the floor like a rag doll.”

His Freedom of Information request to the US Air Force was shunted by the CIA, who said they had operated the Hercules.
