Iconic Brands That No Longer Exist

Who doesn’t remember walking into Tower Records and grabbing the latest album? Most of Generation Z won’t, as the company went the way of the dodo before most were born. But when finding that album you can’t remember the name of meant actually looking through CD’s one by one, Tower Records was king. They had stores throughout the US, Tokyo and Europe.

However, the rising popularity of Wal-Mart and Target, along with the introduction of music streaming and online file sharing, CDs quickly lost their luster, and with it, so did Tower Records. They were unable to adjust to the online marketplace, and declared bankruptcy in 2004 and 2006.
