A Play On Words

The designer of this emergency exit chose an interesting collection of words for their warning. So much so that someone couldn’t resist making a joke about it. This is the kind of joke that just has to get a chuckle out of you. It completely changes the meaning of the sentence before it. It’s things like this that make you reconsider how useful the original sentence was.

Why couldn’t they use simpler language? In trying to make a concise warning, the designer created a multi-faceted sentence. Can you imagine someone from abroad trying to make sense of this warning? They would be completely lost. Instead of opening the door in an emergency, they would probably run the other direction.
