Funniest Food Fails That Need to Be Served to The Trash

‘Cooking is easy’ you may say, ‘it’s not rocket science!’ Well you’d be right, cooking isn’t rocket science, it is an art. When you paint, the right colors portray what you want to express, the right strokes define the intricate work. The same goes for cooking. There are some aspects that define the art that can never change. You can use honey instead of sugar, but not salt.

For those who think cooking is as easy as taking candy from a baby, these food failures suggest otherwise!

No Dairy? No Problem!

How difficult is it to make a pizza? You just knead the dough, wait for the yeast to ferment, roll it, top it with some delicious topping and bake it. Viola! Pizza is ready! But wait, there’s one ingredient missing…the cheese!

twitter by @foodsafetyguru1

Whether you prefer to go cheese-less or opt for a vegan alternative, we’re willing to wager you still wouldn’t find this pizza appetizing. We wonder if this pizza ever made it to the dinner table or if it ended up in the trash.

Ice Cream Pie, Best Served Melted

We think it would’ve been easier to just buy a pie rather than make whatever this is supposed to be. It doesn’t look very much like an ice cream pie either, do you see a pie crust? If anything, it looks like a creamy soup topped with caramel and nuts. Maybe a treat to some people, but definitely not worthy of the title ‘ice cream pie’.

We guess that maybe this chef was in a rush when delivering this dessert, and decided to ignore the “pie” part altogether, and the “ice cream” part as well. What we have here may end up being sent back to the kitchen.

Devil’s Food Cake from Hell

Chocolate lovers would start drooling over the dessert if it were read out of a menu. But this Chocolate Devil’s Food cake may only be appealing to satan himself. Chocolate is one of the most tempting ingredients out there, when added to a dish it becomes impossible for anyone with a sweet tooth to resist.

This might be bad enough to make us give up on chocolate cake altogether. Perhaps it could be used to help those fighting sugar addiction?

Eggs Overboiled

How hard could it possibly be to boil an egg? This is how we imagine this atrocity came to be. The chef probably filled up the pot with water, added the eggs, brought the pot to a boil…and fell asleep for a few hours. If you forget to turn off the flame then you’re bound to end up with whatever this is!

flickr.com

We know some people like their eggs well done and hard boiled, but we doubt even the biggest egg fans would enjoy being served this charred dish. Better set a timer next time!

Are They Hatching?

The easiest recipe to burn boiled egg is to keep the eggs boiling and then totally forget about it until the saucepan starts to rattle, smoke detectors start beeping, and a pungent smell starts to catch your attention. We thought that anyone, even a small child, would be able to boil an egg. But the result of this attempt is truly ‘one of a kind.’

pinterest.es

The number #1 cooking tip you’ll ever learn is to turn off the flame before you scorch your food! Again, setting a timer would prove most useful in avoiding this kind of mishap.

All for One Cookie

This cookie must be the work of a close-knit family. Look how the cookie has refused to stand alone and has come together as one. Now that’s called a family cookie! Baking is all about the perfect measurements and cooking time. You bake too long, you burn it, you bake too little and you end up with doughy cookies.

flickr.com

What if you don’t mix in the right ingredients? Your dish will either rise, fall, or rise to fall.

The Cookies that Ruined Christmas

The best part of Christmas is spending time with your loved ones, singing carols, cooking, baking, and hoping that your cookies don’t look like this! If this is a work of a child, then ‘kudos kid!’ you did pretty well!

publicdomainpictures.net

But if this was made by anyone other than a kid, then we’re gonna pass on this Christmas cookie! This snowman looks like the Grinch in disguise!

The Mystery Cake

What is this? Cake? Brownie? Chocolate bread? Or a few sad pieces of chocolate cake crying over their failure? This is the first time I have seen a cake cry tears of chocolate sauce.

wonkette.com

Looks like the cake knows that it’s going straight from the plate, into the trash. If the challenge here was to make the cookie look sad, then job well done!

Snow Melted Man

Baking takes a lot of effort. Everything from the ingredients to the temperature of the oven must be precise. Because when it’s not, you end up with whatever is pictured on the right. These sad snowmen look like they’ve passed the point of melting.

flickr.com

Their features look obscured, and it seems like they’re suffering terribly! We don’t think we could bear to eat them, even to put them out of their misery!

Instantly Rejected Ramen

Ramen is one instant food that most of us love. It is fast and easy to cook and tastes great! With some additions, you can make it taste even better. But what you see in the photo below looks nothing like the ramen that we know.

flickr.com

A warning to mom’s who serve their ramen-loving children this recipe, expect to find a plate of food in the trash bin!

Honey, Guess What’s for Dinner?

This plate full of food, unfortunately, didn’t make it out in time, and was left to burn in the microwave. It’s difficult to guess what this food once was. Is it spaghetti with vegetables or rice with chicken salad?

flickr.com

We guess the cook wanted to keep dinner a surprise, and came up with someone that no one will be able to identify .

Thanksgiving Squash

This baked squash was probably made by someone trying to eat better, but ended up being a major health hazard! Usually, you roast vegetables on high heat, but evidently, this glass tray just couldn’t withstand the temperature and wanted out.

flickr.com

You know how the saying goes, if you can’t take the heat, shatter into a million tiny pieces!

Worst Birthday Ever

Without being too graphic, we think this cake looks a lot more similar to someone’s lost lunch than a tasty dessert? Banana and toffee pudding cake! As tempting as the name sounds, if this was presented to anyone on their birthday, you could expect a temper tantrum in return.

flickr.com

Are those the candles in the cake? I pity the person who had to blow them out, this would not be a birthday they would want to repeat anytime soon.

The Sad Tale of this Braided Bread

A baking disaster can’t go any worse than this. Baking bread usually takes a lot of effort, especially the muscle you have to put into the kneading. A small error leads to a huge waste.

needpix.com

We’d be devastated if all our hard work amounted to this. Another lesson learned for next time, don’t forget to turn off the oven in time!

Cookie Disaster

Most of us have trouble creating an attractive batch of Christmas cookies, either because we are too anxious to cook, or because we don’t know how to. There is no ‘in-between’. This looks more like the arts n crafts work of preschoolers than true baking.

flickr.com

We hope it wasn’t too much of a waste though,  fingers crossed, hoping that the cookies taste better than they look.

Burnt and Unidentifiable

Burning food is an art in itself. You must know the right temperature that will ensure that the top layer of the dish is burnt to perfection while the insides are cooked properly. If you can eat what you burn, you have mastered the culinary art.

flickr.com

On the other hand, if you manage to burn toast, it is time you let someone else make breakfast.

Extra Crispy Ham

Cooking is not the only art that one can master in, true talent is in deception. You must appreciate the courage of the cook who served this burnt ham with sides. Did you notice that the ham is completely charred?

flickr.com

There is hardly anything left to eat, yet, the cook has served it with confidence, with a side dish to try and distract you.

“Soft” Pretzels

Who doesn’t love a delicious soft pretzel? The aroma brings back wonderful memories of fairs and carnivals. Thankfully, most pretzels you buy won’t be quite as burnt as the ones in this photo.

flickr.com

We just wonder whether they’re still chewy on the inside, or if you’d end up breaking your teeth trying to take a bite out of one!

Well Done Cookies

Now, this is called confidence. The cookies are burnt all over, but they are still plated proudly and served. There are so many recipes that one can find online, oatmeal cookies, chocolate chip cookies, dry fruit cookies, vanilla cookies, the list goes on.

flickr.com

But there is no recipe that tells us how to burn the cookies. I wonder how long it took for the cook to realize that the cookies have no where to go but trash.

Angel Food Explosion

The cook is immensely blessed, their angel food cake was so holy it’s rising up to the heavens. You now know that baking is not as easy as it seems. Without the right measurements, every effort is a disaster in the making.

flickr.com

This over-risen cake will probably never see the light of day after being condemning to the trash can.

Major Decoration Fail

We hesitate to called this a “decorated” cake, as it looks more like the candies were randomly and haphazardly sprinkled over the icing. Believe it or not, this was supposed to be ocean themed. But what exactly are the decorations supposed to resemble?

flickr.com

We can imagine the red candies are meant to be a lobster, perhaps the white blobs are meant to be seashells? Better leave the cake decorating to a professional next time!

Abstract Dinner Plate

If you don’t think this is a food fail, then we challenge you to try and guess what exactly is being served here. We can’t tell if those white globs are butter or mashed potato. And what’s with the single tomato slice on top?

flickr.com

It looks like whoever was plating this meal was trying to be a little bit TOO abstract with their design.

Scrambled Cake, Anyone?

So much effort, and all into the trash. I wonder how disappointed the cook felt when the cornmeal upside-down cake turned out like this! Baking a cake is easy when it comes right out of the box. But when you try to bake one from scratch, it is devastating to find that it has failed.

flickr.com

Hours of cooking and cleaning afterward, with totally disappointing results. We remind you again that there is no room for error when baking. Let’s hope this baker succeeds on their next try.

What Style Eggs?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. There are so many things you can eat, pancakes, cereals, sandwiches, bacon, eggs made in different ways! Now that we have mentioned eggs, maybe you can help us figure out what kind of eggs are frying next to that pancake. Is that scrambled eggs? Sunny side up? Omelette?

flickr.com

I would rather call it my morning disaster instead of an egg breakfast. Luckily the pancake still looks edible.

I’ll Pass on These Snacks

Cheesy foods are always a favorite after school snack food for kids. But we think even the least discriminating pallete would be willing to try this burnt mess. When it comes to cheesy treats, sometimes you can’t judge a book by its cover, but this snack is a clear exception.

wikimedia.org

We wonder if this is bad enough to make someone swear off dairy altogether. Maybe PETA can use it to encourage people to go vegan!

The Curious Case of Banana Bread

Had there not been a caption, we would never be able to guess that this is banana bread. It looked like the bread somehow turned itself inside out. We only wonder how on earth someone like this happened. Maybe the bread wanted to end its life?

While baking is complicated, there’s no mistake that could result in something like this. It takes a special effort to come up with such a fail!

Premature Lava Cakes

Usually, a chocolate lava cake, when cutting into, oozes delicious warm chocolate. But whoever made these clearly did not get the memos, as their cakes seemed to be bursting open like an active volcano before even being served. Perhaps these could be salvaged with some whipped cream and sprinkles on top?

flickr.com

Just so long as the insides aren’t charred, they might not be a complete waste. Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone what went wrong!

Badly Made Bundt Cake

Chocolate Bundt cake is one of the most elegant cakes one can bake. But whatever this is is far from anything elegant, it looks like a chocolate cake that took a good punching. Clearly this cook was not following the recipe.

flickr.com

While the cake doesn’t look particularly appealing, we’re sure it still tastes good! Perhaps you could crumble it and sprinkle over some ice cream so your efforts don’t go to waste. Better luck next time!
