The role of Leticia in “Monster Ball” is once in a lifetime role, and Angel Bassett declined this part, she didn’t feel it was right for her. Why? She was having a hard time consenting to play a role that is about a stereotype black women, sexuality and demeaning. Halle Berry took on the role and she was the first African American actress to win an Oscar for Best Actress for playing it. We can understand Angela hesitation but it is quite a miss.
