That is literally the state’s travel motto. Apparently, the motto started out as “Virginia is for history lovers” or “beach lovers,” but they soon dropped the detail and went for the simple yet confusing/ feels a little too romantic but in a weird way “Virginia is for lovers”.

Virginia is also home to many commuters from Washington DC who apparently pretend they don’t live outside of the DC district.

Well, we caught ya folks! Work in DC, play in DC, go out in DC…then come home to Virginia.

What can we say? The “Virginia is for lovers thing” really makes it feel like a reliable home base.
