49. Alaska, In Other Words- Into The Wild

Alaska, the second to last state added to the union of the United States of America, has the reputation of being a sort of final frontier.

The glacial, mountainous terrain is home to some incredible natural beauty. But for human inhabitants of the state, that can create curious sites like this one below, where a bear can be spotted crossing the road as a school bus awaits its crossing.

This stereotype of Alaskans literally living in the wild has made its way into pop culture by way of various films and books such as “Into The Wild” and “The Simpsons Movie”.

Needless to say, this picture truly strengthens that stereotype.
