When you hear the name of the state of Kentucky, what do you think of?

Most likely you’re thinking of fried chicken right now, and for good reason! Kentucky is famous for being the birthplace of the world famous fast-food chain KFC. The father of KFC.

 

34. The Fried Chicken State

Colonel Harland Sanders (who was actually born in Indiana, and also wasn’t a real army colonel), started out selling his proprietary fried chicken recipe in Corbin, Kentucky during the great depression.

Little did he know that his recipe would define the fast food franchising industry, let alone be responsible for stereotyping an entire state!
