Disney fans tend to be super dedicated and passionate when it comes to their favorite movies. They know every piece of trivia, Easter egg, and reference out there. Because there’s so much Disney content out there, the in-jokes and memes aren’t hard to come across. And they’re all super clever and funny.

Finally a Realistic Expectation for Women
Frozen is one of the later Disney princess movies that try to bring a feeling of realism to its story (that is if you ignore the whole part about ice powers). For a change, we have our Disney princess not looking like a magazine cover model 24/7, especially when she’s waking up!
Finally a Realistic Expectation for Women
We think that most of you find this a lot more relatable than waking up with perfect hair and a pristine smile. For once Disney is delivering us something we can actually achieve, this is the kind of Disney princess we can strive to be!
R.I.P Mufasa
Many of us are totally traumatized by Mufasa’s death in The Lion King. It’s honestly a scene that wouldn’t make it into a Disney movie made today. The worst part is that he was set up by his own brother, Scar. It’s family betrayal at its most ultimate, disturbing level.
R.I.P Mufasa
When one Twitter user spotted a Tweet saying it was the anniversary of Mufasa’s “passing away,” he had to step up to the plate to correct the injustice. Say it loud – Mufasa’s death was not natural! We appreciate his ongoing advocacy in the cause of recognizing the wrong done to Mufasa.
Alternate Timeline Where the Beast Stays a Beast
As you may already know, Emma Watson who plays Belle in the live action version of Beauty and the Beast is also one of the leading actors in the Harry Potter franchise. How fitting is it that in the second Harry Potter film she is turned into a human and animal hybrid?
Alternate Timeline Where the Beast Stays a Beast
It’s almost as if the 2002 film was predicting her casting in the 2017 Beauty and the Beast remake. We’re not sure if this would be exactly what the Beast and Belle’s child would look like, but it’s probably the closest we’ll get to seeing one!
The Least Expected Cinematic Parallel to Come Out of Disney
There are a lot more movies to the Disney universe than you think. Disney also owns Marvel, which makes all the superhero characters from that world part of Disney as well. One thing we bet no one saw coming was this cinematic parallel! Looks like Pocahontas and Thor have more in common than we thought.
The Least Expected Cinematic Parallel to Come Out of Disney
An anthropomorphic raccoon and a talking tree? It’s basically the same movie! That is, if you ignore every other aspect of the story, message, and take John Smith out of the mix. Unless Thor is a version of John Smith in a timeline without Pocahontas? Hmm…..
Hakuna Matata
The Lion King popularized the traditional East African saying “Hakuna Matata”, which means “no trouble” or “no worries” in the Swahili language. It’s a great mantra to remember to help stay positive during tough times. What’s funny is that this Tumblr user found this phrase unintentionally while playing Pokemon on their phone.
Hakuna Matata
Although it is a bit of a tongue twister, if you say the names of the Pokemon characters Kakuna and Rattata fast enough, it really does sound like “Hakuna Matata.” We especially love the crossover between Pokemon and Disney – they’re two classic staples from our childhood that everyone remembers enjoying.
Practical Advice from Our Favorite Sea Witch
Without a doubt, one of the most iconic Disney villains songs is Poor Unfortunate Souls, sung by Ursula the Sea Witch. As you probably already know, she strikes a deal with our mermaid protagonist and requests her voice as payment for human legs. Our red-headed heroine and obviously unsure as to whether she will be able to win over the prince without her voice.
Practical Advice from Our Favorite Sea Witch
Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately?) Ursula gives her some pretty sound advice. Well, maybe not THAT sound, but hey she’s trying to close a deal! I think you can agree her blunt sense of honesty is one of the things we all love about her.
Don’t They Run the Country…?
Disney movies are always partially comedy. You’ve got to have funny moments while the plot is chugging along if you want to keep the kiddies entertained. Just look at Anna and Elsa, they seem to not have a clue what’s going on throughout the movie. This seems hilarious until you realize that these two are actually in charge of their country…
Don’t They Run the Country…?
Most Disney princesses aren’t really responsible for much, they’re simply married to a prince. The king and queen are there to make sure the kingdom doesn’t fall into shambles. But seeing as these two lost their parents, they’re the sole rulers of Arendelle. We think they need to get their act together for the sake of their subjects!
Is This Really a Healthy Coping Mechanism?
Disney movies have a tendency to teach us how to deal with real life situations, whether the character experiences the problem itself or a metaphor for a real-life dilemma. Since I’m sure no one has ever fallen down an endless rabbit hole into a psychedelic nightmare, I’m guessing that Alice’s challenges were all intended to be metaphors.
Is This Really a Healthy Coping Mechanism?
And what was one of her ways of dealing with them? Eating and drinking everything in sight! Just like we deal with our real life problems. At least, that’s how I prefer to deal with them. Now, where’s my bag of potato chips…
Were We the Uncultured Swine All Along?
When you’re a kid there are a lot of jokes that go over your head. And we’re not even talking about adult humor and innuendo, sometimes there are just references we don’t understand due to our lack of life experience. Unless you were one seriously cultured kiddo, you probably didn’t catch this brilliantly placed Picasso mention.
Were We the Uncultured Swine All Along?
Were we all uncultured swine back then? Hopefully, now we’re a little more learned and understand that Mr. Potato Head was trying to recreate the work of a famous abstract artist. It’s always fun rewatching old favorites and discovering things you never noticed before. Maybe that’s what makes classic Disney films so memorable and timeless.
Only Disney Super Fans Will Get this One
This has got to be the holy grail of online Disney in jokes. You have to be a pretty big Disney fanatic to get this one, as it combines more than one Disney reference. We start off with Aladdin and eventually, these Disney fans take us all the way to the Lion King!
Only Disney Super Fans Will Get this One
We would be super impressed if the post went on long enough to squeeze a third reference in there, we think it could be possible but it would take an elite team of Disney super fans in order to pull it off.
You Get What You Pay For
When you think about it, it’s pretty crazy that the animated movie Frozen had a budget of $150 million. We get it, it’s computer animation that requires technology, but in all seriousness, you’re saving a lot on the budget for the actors’ wardrobes, costume changes, lighting, sound, and other important elements.
You Get What You Pay For
So we really appreciate this Tumblr user pointing out that despite having a budget that’s higher than the GDP of many small nations, the animators still flubbed something pretty major. Why, when there is such detailed animation down to the strands of hair on someone’s head, do none of the characters have proper earholes?
The Most Relatable Dalmation
Some Disney characters are known for their bravado and desire for swashbuckling adventures. Others are characterized as maternal figures, sensitive types who always have the right thing to say. Others, well, let’s just say they’re a little more comic relief. Especially the ones who are constantly hungry. But you know what? They’re always the most relatable ones in the movie.
The Most Relatable Dalmation
This pudgy dalmatian captures our mood every hour of the day. Sure he might be a little annoying, but aren’t we all? Rolly honestly speaks for all of us. While the other pups are getting into wacky shenanigans, he’s content watching TV and asking for a snack. Sounds like a fun Friday night for us!
How They Come Up with Original Ideas
Let’s be real here, any original movie idea that comes out of Disney is a blessing. We think we’re all getting tired of the live-action remakes and reimaginings of classic childhood films. It’s about time Disney came out with something a little more unique, and that’s exactly what Zootopia was. We’re not sure if this was the board room conversation, but it’d be pretty funny if it was.
How They Come Up with Original
Hey, if that’s what it takes for them to release something original, so be it! Honestly having animal characters in a cop movie is a lot more exciting than human characters. Animation is what the company was built on, and it shouldn’t forget that.
Why is Kronk so Quotable?
Kronk might be the most memorable character in the Emporer’s New Groove. There’s something about Patrick Warburton’s iconic voice paired with the hilarious writing that makes him stand out. He might’ve been a minor character, but he’s incredibly quotable. Not to mention, a pretty relatable fella. Between the evil Yzma and the selfish Emporter slash llama, Kronk is one of the representatives of an average Joe.
Why is Kronk so Quotable?
This is our favorite line of his in the entire film, and it’s surprisingly applicable to real-life situations. How many times have you re-written a sentence just to fill a word count? Ya know, stretching out the information you have to meet a minimum requirement. Re-phrasing the same details again and again until that word count is finally met?
The Most Relatable Character in All of Disney?
There are a lot of characters in the Disney universe with a variety of different personalities. It would be impossible not to find a character that you can relate to. Someone here seems to have made the point that Te Fiti is the most relatable character in Moana, and we can’t say that we disagree!
The Most Relatable Character in All of Disney?
We think that this technical villain of Moana might have the most universally relatable story line. We would say that we’d love to see a movie all about her, however, we think it would be pretty short and not have much action in it.
This is His Fate
Man, Mike Wizowski just has the worst luck, doesn’t he? First he ends up blocked by the logo on the TV screen, then gets covered up with the barcode on a magazine. It seems everyone’s trying to censor him in some way, at least that’s what the running gag of the movie was. We’re not sure if the little detail below was planned or accidental.
This is His Fate
Either way, it’s a brilliant cool Easter egg, only real fans of the movie will catch it. Mike seems pretty thrilled about his feature on Disney+, he doesn’t seem the least bit phased that his face is covered up. That’s quite in character for him though.
That’s Not What Pirates Do…
Kids want to be all kinds of crazy things when they grow up. If they’ve seen Pirates of the Caribbean, you bet that they love the idea of being a swashbuckling adventurer like Johnny Depp. The pirate craze has been around for a while, so it’s no surprise that Disney wanted to make a version that was kiddie-friendly. However, something is clearly amiss here.
That’s Not What Pirates Do…
Being a pirate doesn’t just mean wearing jewelry and having a parrot on your shoulder. In real life, a pirate’s entire existence revolves around stealing things from towns and other ships they meet at sea. The fact Disney is using pirates to teach kids not to steal is pretty ironic, not to mention hilarious.
The Color of Evil
Certain traits will allow you to figure out whether or not a character is evil. Hanging around in the shadows is a good indication, as is wearing all black. Once they launch into a song about their villainous activity the secret’s out. But there’s one interesting theme among a few iconic villains we can’t help but notice.
The Color of Evil
Apparently, this particular shade of lime green is the indistinguishable color of evil. Mountain Dew is starting to look a little more sinister, and it’s not just because of the high sugar content. If that thing ever starts glowing then look out, something evil might be afoot. We wonder if it’s the preferred beverage of Disney antagonists.
The Multiple Uses of Kitchen Utensils
What lessons have we learned from the Disney Princesses over the years? True love does exist. Sometimes beauty can be found on the inside. Don’t judge a book by its cover. If you can sing good enough except to create a bunch of little animal friends who help you clean your house.
The Multiple Uses of Kitchen Utensils
And now this useful tip, kitchen utensils are a lot more versatile than we all previously thought! Did you think that fork was JUST for eating? Certainly not! And why invest in home protection when you can whip out a frying pan at a moment’s notice?
A Very Poor Choice of Words
Wording is everything, clearly, the person who wrote this Tweet didn’t read it twice. One of the biggest tragedies in the Disney universe is the death of Bambi’s mom. We all remember this moment from our childhood, though we’re sure most of us would prefer to forget. It’s the emotional peak of the movie and Disney hit us hard with the harsh truth of reality.
A Very Poor Choice of Words
So maybe “shooting Bambi” isn’t the best choice of words for this news! We all get what The Independent was trying to say, but wouldn’t “filming” be a better option? Either way, it looks like Disney is coming out with yet another live-action remake. We can’t wait to see how they botch another childhood classic…
Winnie the Pooh Understands Your Summer Body Problems
Did you know Winnie the Pooh is a Disney property too? Well, you know now! In this case, we think Pooh personifies a very common feeling most of us have over the summer, though usually, it’s not because we’ve been snacking on raw honey.
Winnie the Pooh Understands Your Summer Body Problems
Why does Pooh only ever wear a shirt, anyway? And for that matter, why does Mickey Mouse sport those red shorts with no shirt? Seems like they’re both missing very important pieces of their outfit, they should join forces and together create one completely dressed character!
A Much Darker Side to Belle
This little figurine most likely did not come from an official Disney store. It’s probably one of those knockoffs that try to rip off and make a quick buck off a recognizable character. There’s no way that Disney would make a figurine of Belle plucking the petals of the Beast’s rose!
A Much Darker Side to Belle
In fact, Belle looks absolutely sadistic here as she condemns the Beast and all his servants to a lifetime of living as non-humans. If she had actually done this I think that Beauty and the Beast would have had a much more different plot.
TOO Unrealistic
There’s a certain suspension of disbelief that goes on when watching a movie, this is especially true for animated films. We know animals can’t talk and fairy godmothers don’t really exist. These are just fictional elements that make the story more interesting. But certain moments are just TOO far-fetched for us to forgive…
TOO Unrealistic
Ladies will agree that removing makeup can be a major pain in the butt. In fact, a lot of us avoid wearing it just so we won’t have to take it off before bed. But Mulan just swipes her sleeve over her face? No smudges or residue left behind? We just can’t believe that!
In This Case, it’s Not Just an Expression
Nearly all the hit Disney movies have some kind of equal or spin-off. None are quite as good as The Little Mermaid 2, at least in our humble opinion. Here we get to follow the ambitions and dreams of Ariel’s daughter Melody, and guess what? They’re the exact opposite of her mother’s! Is this what they call “irony”?
In This Case it’s Not Just an Expression
Instead of enjoying her life on land, Melody yearns to swim in the sea as a mermaid. Isn’t that just typical? Give a kid a palace on Earth and they want to move to the sea. Ariel can definitely relate to her daughter’s angst. “A fish out of water” isn’t just an expression in this situation!
The Aging Benefits of Living in Never Never Land
You’ve probably seen articles and posts before that compare an actor from way back in the day to how they look in the present. Sometimes it’s a bit of a surprise to see just how much they’ve aged. But in Never Never Land, nobody ages! So Peter Pan’s comparison looks exactly the same.
The Aging Benefits of Living in Never Never Land
In fact, unless he plans on leaving his magical land, his comparison photos will probably look the same in ten, twenty, or even one hundred years! That is unless he has a messy run in with Captain Hook. Can you die in Never Never Land? We’re not 100% sure.
Does it Look Like He Gives a Bother?
Winnie the Pooh is without a doubt one of the sweetest and most innocent characters in the Disney universe. After all, what could be more precious than a chubby bear who just likes to sit around with his friends and eat honey? But this post paints a slightly more gruesome picture of the beloved character.
Does it Look Like He Gives a Bother?
Who knew that Winnie was so metal that he could nonchalantly stuff his internal organs back into his body? And all without passing out, now that’s pretty impressive! Don’t let his sunny personality fool you, Pooh bear is hardcore!
Dropping Hints
This Twitter user succinctly summarized much of the early plot of the movie Mulan. It’s pretty funny – the way this user phrased the interaction between Mulan and her father really shows just how absurd a lot of the premise of the movie actually is. The proof is in this user’s wrap-up.
Dropping Hints
Much of the movie’s drama focuses on the fact that Mulan has to hide the fact that she’s going to battle to protect her father, against her family’s wishes. However, he did actually point her in the correct direction as to where his armor and sword were stored. Pretty suspicious!
A Rapunzel by Any Other Name
Naming characters is an important decision, often filmmakers can sneak in hidden messages or little Easter eggs for fans to learn about and enjoy. Usually, the name of the character should connect with their personality, like with Moana’s name being the Maori word for Ocean. This doesn’t work for all Disney characters though…
A Rapunzel by Any Other Name
The original story of Rapunzel has Rapunzel’s mother craving a vegetable called a Rapun, which is how this princess ends up getting her very unusual name. Nothing particularly deep or meaningful about Rapunzel’s name translation, unfortunately, but she’s still one of our favorite Disney princesses!
This Face Swap has a Threatening Aura
One of the great things about Disney heroes and villains is their distinct look. It takes less than a second to recognize any of the iconic characters from the Disney universe, talented animators have a way of cementing their faces in our brains. However, are they as recognizable when they’ve been face-swapped? You’ll have to tell us.
This Face Swap has a Threatening Aura
These are just a bit TOO well done for our liking. Someone out there really shouldn’t have been given access to Photoshop. We still recognize the villain faces on these heroes’ bodies, however, we seriously wish we had never seen this picture. But if we have to suffer then we’re taking you all with us!
Disney Logic Does Not Compute
There’s a lot of suspension of disbelief when it comes to Disney movies. After all, if you want to enjoy a simple Mickey Mouse cartoon you have to be able to imagine that a Mouse and a Duck are the same size, and can somehow communicate with each other despite being different species.
Disney Logic Does Not Compute
But this is one thing I don’t think Disney fans could let fly by their radar. Why would Minnie MOUSE be afraid of a rodent scurrying across her kitchen?? And while we’re at it, how does a Mouse go about getting a dog as a pet!?
A Little Bit of Dark Comedy
When you first see this image it’s hard to figure out what exactly the punchline is supposed to be. But once you realize it you can only shake your head in disappointment, what kind of person would make a joke so distasteful about Mufasa!
A Little Bit of Dark Comedy
For those of you who are unfortunate enough to have never seen the masterpiece known at the Lion King, there is a tragic ending for this King of the wild animals. During a stampede, this majestic create was dangling from a cliff and fell when his brother pushed him off. And obviously, he did not land on his feet.
The Least Threatening Villain Name
When you go through the list of Disney villains most of them are pretty legendary. Thinking about it; an all-powerful witch who lives in the depths of the ocean? Terrifying. A puppy stealing madwoman whose name LITERALLY has the word “cruel” in it? The epitome of evil. But this dude? We dunno, sounds like Disney was having an off day.
The Least Threatening Villain Name
Not that Clayton isn’t evil, poaching wildlife is a truly terrible act, but the dude is just so average. He even has a pretty ordinary name! We feel bad for all the Claytons who had to deal with that name association after this movie came out. Thankfully he’s a pretty forgotten bad guy, so we don’t think that stigma lasted long.
The Best Movie Crossover of All Time
Now here’s a crossover that we didn’t think would work out, but now that we see it we can tell how perfectly they fit together! Between Elsa’s dramatic exit and Emperor Kuzco’s dramatic entrances, it looks like they have more in common than we previously thought! Is this a good idea for Frozen 3?
The Best Movie Crossover of All Time
It appears that one of these Tumblr users has already come up with the lyrics for one of the movie’s songs. That’s practically half the movie written already! C’mon Disney executives we know you can do it, make this movie happen!
When You Do Things in a Complicated Way to be More Evil
Because movies don’t take place in reality, they often need the audience to suspend their disbelief for certain parts of the story. Sometimes the audience notices details that lead to confusion. Like in this case, the evil queen’s actions seem to be a super complicated way of becoming the fairest in the land!
When You Do Things in a Complicated Way to be More Evil
We guess she was just really, really angry that anyone dared to be more beautiful than she was, and therefore was determined to get her revenge on Snow White? To be fair, this is a very old story, so we can’t question the character motivations and actions TOO much!
Another Important Lesson from Lilo and Stitch
In case you’ve never seen it before, Lilo and Stitch is a movie all about family. It tells the story of how an unlikely addition to a family can still become just as close and loved. However, it’s also about Lilo controlling the unstoppable force that is Stitch.
Another Important Lesson from Lilo and Stitch
We think that it makes for the perfect metaphor for our inner demons trying to get us to make bad decisions, like eating cake at 3 o’clock in the morning. Sadly, like with Lilo, it’s hard to control these kinds of forces, as you can clearly see in the picture here.
Disney is Getting Self Aware
It seems that Disney is beginning to become self aware about its currently most popular movie. That or the writers of this movie were pretty sick and tired of Frozen stealing the spotlight and decided to make this clever jab at the film’s famous anthem.
Disney is Getting Self Aware
It was at this moment that Officer Hopps was getting her sunny personality trampled by her cynical boss. What a perfect time to make a snide comment about the upbeat song that’s been plaguing our ears for the past few years. I definitely appreciated the reference.
Frozen Fans Need to Take that Song’s Advice
Frozen has truly taken over the Disney universe since it was first released in 2013. It seems like every Disney movie whether it’s past, present, or future is being looked at with the lens of Frozen. In this case, a movie that had literally zero things in common with Frozen is still somehow compared to Frozen.
Frozen Fans Need to Take that Song’s Advice
We wonder how much longer this can be kept up, and how much further will it go? Will we start seeing the artwork of Disney princesses dressed up like Elsa? Or songs recreated to the tune of Let it Go? We think the Disney fandom needs to finally take that song’s advice!
A Very Different Version of Beauty and the Beast
Because Belle was brave enough to give herself up as a prisoner to the Beast to replace her father, the plot of Beauty and the Beast was able to get rolling. However, this Tumblr user is wondering what would have happened if Belle NOT gave herself up to save her father.
A Very Different Version of Beauty and the Beast
Would Maurice end up as the Beast’s romantic interest if he had remained the prisoner in the castle? An even better question might be, would he have worn the same yellow dress during the ballroom scene, or would the Beast have a golden tuxedo tucked away somewhere? So many questions!
Was Belle Just an Itty Bitty Bit Too Judgemental?
The opening song of Beauty and the Beast begins with Belle singing about how she wants more than a ‘provincial life’. But did she ever take the feelings of the townspeople she was singing about into consideration? Perhaps they enjoy their simple lives, and Belle is just out there raining on their parade!
Was Belle Just an Itty Bitty Bit Too Judgemental?
With the perspective of this Tweet, we’re starting to look at Belle in a different light. Could it be that the townspeople disliked her for constantly poo-pooing their lifestyle every morning? Maybe learn to be a little less judgmental, Belle!
Adjectives Make the Best Movie Titles
One of the lesser known facts about the film industry is that movies can go through several name changes before they are finally released. However, a few of Disney’s more recent films all seem to have gone through very similar name changes. Do adjectives work better with audiences as movie titles?
Adjectives Make the Best Movie Titles
We wonder what past Disney movies would be called if they used this formula. Would “Mulan” have been called “Honorable”? Or maybe “The Princess and the Frog” would have been called “Genuine”? We’re not sure adjective titles are perfect, but we definitely think it worked for those three movies!
A Very Different Version of Events
When we see the ending to Snow White we see a very particular story. Being the audience, we’re clued into the Evil Queen’s transformation, we see her creating the poison apple and delivering it to our innocent princess protagonist. But if we were watching the story from Snow White’s eyes? Well, that’s a very different story.
A Very Different Version of Events
She probably only remembers taking a bite out of a juicy red apple, and the next thing she knows she’s waking up in the arms of her one true love. She has no idea that she basically died, from her point of view the ending had no conflict for her at all!
The Fate of a Former Disney Star
Most of us who grew up watching the Disney Channel will remember Selena Gomez as Alex from Wizards of Waverly Place. As all Disney actors, this starlet wanted to branch out with a more mature image and began making her own music and landing less kid-friendly acting gigs. But you know what they say, once you’re a Disney kid there is no escape.
The Fate of a Former Disney Star
It would seem that Selena is living the typical Disney Princess life, the only issue is that it’s all in her head! This was a pretty clever commercial, poking fun at her former career and making a reference that no one could miss. Though in all honesty, having a cartoon companion doesn’t seem like a horrible fate!
A Real Dilemma with a Major Overreaction
Because a lot of Disney movies are based on old fairy tales, sometimes the villain’s motivation for evil can be a little confusing. There is no better example of this than with Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty, who curses a newborn baby with death simply for not being invited to a party.
A Real Dilemma with a Major Overreaction
However, it seems that this sentiment might be more common among us than we think (the party invitation part, not the cursing of the newborn baby part). Maybe her anger is a little bit justified? We think the curse took things a little far, she should have just thrown a few eggs at the castle and called it a night.
How to Be Evil 101: Disney Villain Insults
Disney villains come in all shapes, sizes, and types, from a power hungry lion with a scar on his eye to a jealous but beautiful medieval queen. There must be something that ties all these colorful characters together, and it looks like this Tumblr user has figured out what exactly it is.
How to Be Evil 101: Disney Villain Insults
The go to Disney villain insult is without a doubt “fool!”. It’s not the harshest name in the book, but since Disney produces family friendly films we figure that it only makes sense. Whether the evil doer is magical or not, they seem to have an affinity for this insult.
The Disney Conspiracy Hiding Right Under Our Noses
Phineas and Ferb was a Disney Channel original show that went on for eight years and was all about two brothers during summer vacation. It looks like one of these characters seems to have broken the fourth wall as he realizes that eight years is a LONG time for a summer vacation to last!
The Disney Conspiracy Hiding Right Under Our Noses
And he’s not the only Disney character to start becoming self aware of the weirdness of their universe. We think there’s a conspiracy going on here, perhaps Disney characters who become self aware are snuffed out and are never heard from again!
And Belle Said, “Let Them Eat Cake!”
Fairy tales that took place several decades ago usually don’t include the historical or political context of their time. It’s kind of hard to make a happily ever after come true in the middle of a revolution where people are being beheaded. It looks like this Tumblr user had a bit of a dark sense of humor though.
And Belle Said, “Let Them Eat Cake!”
We’re glad that the original Beauty and the Beast movie ends on a happy note, even if we know that things would have played out very differently if the story was historically accurate! The fairy tale version is a lot less guillotine-y.
Age Is Just A Number
Friendships across age groups aren’t that unusual – but between a five year old and a sixteen year old would be certain to raise an eyebrow. This Twitter user pointed out the weirdness level of the friendship between Ariel and Flounder in The Little Mermaid. It really seems like a toddler and teenager are besties!
Age Is Just A Number
Honestly, it is a little bit weird. Ariel is facing a bunch of mature, young adult issues, and Flounder is still pretty much a kid. Why did the plot of The Little Mermaid revolve around exposing innocent Flounder to some pretty disturbing problems? How old exactly was Ariel supposed to be, again?
Inquiring Minds Want to Know
Many animated Disney movies are based on classic narratives. Some of them come are a combination of this and original ideas, typically based around a geographic setting for inspiration. An example of this would be the Lion King, which is based in Africa but follows a fairly Shakespearean plot about a son avenging his father.
Inquiring Minds Want to Know
But this Tumblr user asked an important question. The Aristocats movie title prominently features a pun (a play on the word aristocrats.) So, did the people at Disney literally premise an entire animated film based on this pun? Our gut feeling is yes. We feel like the writers had a good laugh over that.
Someone at Disney Had a Dark Side
It’s time to face the facts, Disney movies are filled with jokes that flew over our heads when we were kids. And we’re not even talking about the recent films, some of these bits of dark humor go as far back as the 1930s! This animated short tells the famous tale of the three little pigs. But there’s a small detail you probably missed…
Someone at Disney Had a Dark Side
Looks like their father met a pretty unhappy ending! Someone at Disney must’ve had a twisted sense of humor back in the day, they probably thought no one would notice this joke. Unfortunately, the secret is out! We now know the three little pigs had a very unlucky father figure.
Too Many Live-Action Remakes
It’s no secret that Disney has been pumping out the live-action remakes lately. It started out innocently enough, we thought it was a cool gimmick for our childhood faves like Cinderella. We even enjoyed the re-telling of stories like Sleeping Beauty with movies like Maleficent. But we think everyone would agree they’ve taken these remakes and reimaginings a BIT too far.
Too Many Live-Action Remakes
We don’t want a live-action version of every Disney animated movie! What we want is original new stories with characters we’ve never seen before. More often than not these remakes are cash grabs that bring very few new elements to the table. Disney, it’s time to hit the breaks on these and give us some fresh material.
This Gives Us Pause
Cinderella is a classic animated fairy tale from Disney’s golden era. It heavily revolves around footwear. Basically, Cinderella’s foot fits into a magical glass slipper she wears to the ball. After dancing with the prince, she leaves it behind at the palace, which is the clue that leads him back to her.
This Gives Us Pause
But this Twitter user pointed out something super important – if the slipper so magically fit her perfectly in the beginning, how did it so easily slip off her foot? This is a pretty major plot hole that we had never previously considered. Disney, we demand a thorough investigation and explanation, immediately!
Disneyland – The Kingdom of Mouse Worship
Disneyland might be the most magical place on Earth, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a bit strange. People dressed up as fictional characters, everyone calling themselves a “cast member”, and that’s not even mentioning all the hidden Mickeys! There are camouflaged Mickey Mouse heads all over the park, the actual number just might blow your mind.
Disneyland – The Kingdom of Mouse Worship
If you guessed around 400, you’d be correct! A place with that many secret mice has got to look a little creepy to people of the future. Hopefully, they’ll have access to some of the old Disney movies to get a little context. Otherwise, they’re going to assume the past was full of mouse-worshipers.
Remy Has Fallen on Hard Times
One of the most unique stories Disney/Pixar has ever created has got to be Ratatouille. The tale of a rodent who worked his way into owning a successful restaurant might’ve been far-fetched, however, it was told in a way that audiences ate up. A lot of us looked at rats differently after seeing the film, though not all of them were living the upscale Paris life.
Remy Has Fallen on Hard Times
Looks like Remy has fallen on hard times, maybe the restaurant hasn’t been attracting as many customers lately. The poor thing ended up turning to alcohol and is now sleeping on the streets of New York City. A pretty grim ending to an otherwise happy story!
A Way with Words
One of our favorite things about Disney princess moments is the confession of love. How can you watch these without having your heart totally melt? Several Disney movies have incredible romances that build throughout the film, and it’s always worth seeing the payoff. Unfortunately, some characters are less poetic than others.
A Way with Words
Most of the lines spoken by romantic leads are oozing with love. But not with Shang. He’s not exactly known for his prose, he’s more of a military leader type of guy. He was definitely a bit tongue-tied when approaching Mulan, you gotta give the guy a break. Plus we’re sure a lot of guy viewers can relate to his shyness!
Belting it Out
One of the best parts of Disney movies is all the hit songs you get from them. The franchise always makes sure to get talented voices for their characters. Because the melodies are made for children, they’re pretty easy to remember and sing along to. But don’t let that deceive you. There are still some very complicated notes to hit.
Belting it Out
There are three types of people: people who think they can sing and can, people who can’t sing but think they can, and people who can’t sing and don’t. This meme is for those in the second group. You’d think someone would be able to notice if they were off key, but surprisingly some are too tone-deaf. What they hear is the first picture, when in reality it’s the second.
Bra Size
This pun gives a whole new meaning to the word seashells. You’ll never be able to look at a mermaid the same way again. Though it’s a bit dirty for Disney, the joke’s setup is just too good to pass up. There must have been a reason that Eric fell in love with Ariel when she couldn’t communicate. Maybe she had a real talent for body language.
Bra Size
In reality, bra sizes are often just like clothing sizes. It depends on which store you go to. Some women swear that Victoria’s Secret runs small just to make you feel better about your cup size. Nowadays, bralettes are gaining more traction. The days of underwired and cup size bras are disappearing. Soon the difference between C and D-shells won’t matter anymore.
Confront What Scares You the Most
This scene from Wreck-It Ralph 2 is iconic. All of the princesses meet Vanellope Von Schweetz and they all get to interact with each other. They find the thing that brings them all together is that a man is credited for saving them, even when the man didn’t do any of the work. And if you look closely, each princess is wearing casual clothing related to her movie.
Confront What Scares You the Most
But while Cinderella just has a carriage on her shirt, Snow White is sporting a poisoned apple. That might be what we connect with the Snow White story, but wearing the thing that killed you is a pretty bold choice. Maybe Disney wanted to give her something to stand out because she’s such an underrated princess.
Sibling Love and Rivalry
The loving relationship between Anna and Elsa is what saves them in the end of Frozen. Despite being shut out for years, Anna still has a deep connection with her sister and drops everything to try and save her. Whereas in Cinderella, the ugly stepsisters bicker constantly. The only thing those two have in common is their bullying of Cinderella.
Sibling Love and Rivalry
This stark difference fits this meme perfectly. Being caught by your parents while fighting with your siblings never ends well. Regardless of who started it, usually, everyone gets in trouble. Sometimes the better storyteller is the one that gets away with more antics. Older siblings will also swear that the younger ones get off the hook more often. Moral of the story: be Anna and Elsa, not Anastasia and Drizella.
Hades: The Original Feminist
Hades is probably the best thing about the movie Hercules. His quick temper and wit give us so much good dialogue and quotable lines. Below is an example of some of his great one-liners. If he hadn’t been the villain, he could have doubled as the sassy best friend. Sometimes a girl needs to be reminded that not every nice boy is telling the truth.
Hades: The Original Feminist
Ironically, Hercules does turn out to be a pretty devoted and loyal love interest. He even gives up his immortality to be with Megara! So while this meme is perfect out of context, when you relate it to the movie it doesn’t hold up as well. But everyone knows at least one girl who needs some of Hades’ advice.
The Dangers of a Midnight Snack
Everything sounds ten times louder in the middle of the night. When you knock something over it or hit your shin into a piece of furniture you’re bound to wake everyone up. Every footstep echos and every move you make is amplified. But the microwave beeping is one of the loudest. Those midnight snacks are a doozy.
The Dangers of a Midnight Snack
This dramatic meme is exactly what it feels like when that loud timer goes off. Unfortunately once the microwave hits zero there’s nothing you can do. Depending on the model, three or five dings will go off whether you open the microwave door or not. And be sure not to slam it shut afterwards! If the beeping didn’t wake the whole house, that definitely will.
Beauty’s in the Eye of the Beholder
Boyfriends and husbands often talk about the joy of waking up next to their partners. They go on and on about how their spouses look so beautiful in the morning and what a pleasure it is to see them every day. But from the woman’s side, having bed head and morning breath isn’t when you feel the most beautiful.
Beauty’s in the Eye of the Beholder
Sometimes it feels like when you try to dress up and put on makeup your partner doesn’t notice. But when you roll into the kitchen with a messy bun, leggings, and a sweatshirt, you get showered with compliments. This meme shows how confusing it is for many girls to understand this phenomenon. Maybe someone needs to explain in the comments.
Not the Sharpest Knife in the Drawer
Though many kids are obsessed with the mermaid, some viewers find Ariel’s appeal a bit problematic for children. They claim she left her family behind for a boy, giving up her voice and almost her life! The sacrifice ended up getting her where she wanted, but at what cost? This meme just exemplifies how stupid some people think this princess is.
Not the Sharpest Knife in the Drawer
It’s true that Ariel is completely obsessed with all things human. She basically has a room full of discarded items she’s hoarded over the years. But rather than making the connection between fork and trident, she likens the fork to a brush instead. Not her brightest moment!
Sid the Toy
Sid is the main villain in the first Toy Story movie. Even though the animation isn’t the best, the creators still managed to create a pretty terrifying child. He’s the perfect counterpart to Andy who’s careful and loving with all his toys. This Sid doll feels like revenge on behalf of his victims. Now he gets to feel what it’s like to be messed with. Hopefully his owners will be nicer than he was.
Sid the Toy
The whole idea of toys being alive made many kids rethink their playtime and clean up routines. Did the toys get bothered by being thrown around? Do certain toys get offended when they always play the villain? After these movies were released, kids probably made a point to play with their toys more equally so that no one felt left out.
Possible Sequel to the Road to El Dorado?
Here’s another cinematic parallel that the Disney fans have cleverly pointed out (though TECHNICALLY Road to El Dorado is Dreamworks, but close enough right?). Just look at the loving gaze Flynn Ryder is giving to Rapunzel in this romantic movie screenshot.
Possible Sequel to the Road to El Dorado?
Now compare that to the way Miguel is looking at Tulio over there. Seems pretty similar, no? Perhaps the Road to El Dorado had a romantic subplot that we aren’t aware of? The Disney fandom is definitely onto something. Maybe one day Disney will finally come out with a sequel that explores their relationship.
This is How a Princess Must Cry
In the same way that Disney villains have a habit of using the same monosyllabic insult, Disney princesses seem to have a very uniform way of showing their despair. Apparently, in order to be a Disney princess, you have to dramatically throw yourself face down against a bed or a bench and sob.
This is How a Princess Must Cry
That’s six Disney princesses who seem to display these similar behaviors. Maybe Disney needs to learn how to animate characters with a wider arrange of emotional expressions? To be fair, all these moments are in older Disney movies, since then it seems that they have evolved.
Was Ursula Doing Ariel a Favor?
Sometimes we watch a Disney movie and simply enjoy the story without reading into it too deeply. However, after a movie has been out for a few years people start to look back and notice things that they didn’t catch during their first few watches. This post is just one example of that.
Was Ursula Doing Ariel a Favor?
We all thought Ariel not being able to use her voice would make it harder for her to win over the prince, but maybe the opposite was true? Who knows what kind of bizarre and crazy things Ariel would’ve blabbered on about if she HAD the use of her voice!
Turns Out Hans was a Weasley All Along
There seems to be a lot of people who are mega fans of both Harry Potter and Disney, how else would you explain all these crossovers? Though Harry Potter belongs to Warner Bros, this comparison is so spot on we can’t help but laugh at it.
Turns Out Hans was a Weasley All Along
Elsa with her white blonde hair and this sassy expression makes for the perfect Draco Malfoy, delivering a snarky line to the red headed Hans who is the spitting image of a typical Weasley. We hope you’ve seen Frozen AND Harry Potter so you can get how hilarious this post is, if not you gotta watch them ASAP!
Filter, Filter on the Wall
Snapchat filters are often used as an easy way to make yourself look more presentable while you’re trying to tell a story. It’s no problem if you didn’t put on makeup or do your hair. Just switch on the mascara filter and you’ll look just fine. But when you use those filters all the time, you may get a nasty surprise when you switch them off.
Filter, Filter on the Wall
Similar issues arise when you’re trying to take a group shot and accidentally turn on the selfie camera. But in these cases, you’re usually caught with a double chin. Regardless, you have to be careful with how easy it is to edit things these days. It’s easy for us to forget what we actually look like!
Some Unrealistic Hair Expectations
Yet another unrealistic expectation we got from Disney movies. First, we all thought we would meet our true love and get married within the same week (if not that day). And then we were promised that forest animals would be our friends and help us with chores. And now this!
Some Unrealistic Hair Expectations
Pocahontas may look very regal and majestic with her hair blowing in the wind, but don’t think you’ll look similar on a windy day! No, us long-haired people will be brushing locks away from our face and pulling stands out of our mouth, not very majestic at all!
His Dream Girl
The non-royal characters of Frozen have their own jobs going on while Elsa figures herself out. Kristoff is an ice harverser who spends much of his time out in the harsh winter climate. One might think he’s a fan of the cold, or perhaps this is just a common job in the kingdom. If we go with the former explanation…
His Dream Girl
Okay, we’re sure Kristoff doesn’t want every aspect of his life made of ice. If that were true he’d have a home built with snow and only eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But we have to admit it, spinning this tragic moment into a romantic one is pretty funny.
Whoa Dude, Let it Go!
Everyone has had that experience of pausing a movie at the perfect moment and catching one of the characters with a crazy or funny expression. This works best with animated movies since the character’s expressions are already exaggerated. This Tumblr user captured the perfect moment in the middle of an interaction between Anna and Elsa.
Whoa Dude, Let it Go!
Really seems like Anna is telling Elsa too, excuse the pun, chill out. As the second Tumblr user, appropriately named “Arrendelle Princess”, pointed out, it really seems like Anna is telling Elsa to let it go, but like for real this time.
“So What Was the Most Memorable Part of the Movie?”
Finding Dory is the heart wrenching (but still somehow hilarious) sequel to Finding Nemo, which explores the backstory of the former side character. There’s a lot to enjoy about this film, but at its heart, it’s a story about a hopeful fish who wants to reunite with her parents. It looks like some people noticed a few other details about the film as well…
“So What Was the Most Memorable Part of the Movie?”
Making a bunch of very similar looking fish look like distinct characters can’t be an easy job for the animators. We actually think that they did an incredible job here. Kudos to you guys!
Elsa the Snow is Bothering Us
It’s easy to see why Frozen is so popular – aside from being pretty to watch, it’s funny, well-scripted, and has a banging soundtrack. Unlike other Disney movies before it, it boils down to good old sisterly love while the prince turns out to be an evil conniving villain. You don’t need a prince if you have a sister.
But being part of a kingdom and finding that your princess turned the whole city into an ice park. Elsa, we know you want to let it go but can you please leave the weather out of your moment of self-discovery? The snow bothers us, and we don’t think messing with the weather is a good way to deal with the climate crisis either.
How Hard Did 2020 Hit Disney?
2019 was Disney’s year at the box office. The company had 7 movies surpass the $1 billion mark and grossed over $ 10 billion at the global box office. Disney-produced films accounted for 38% of the total U.S. film market in 2019 including 20th Century Fox which Disney acquired that same year. 2020 was hard for everyone but for Disney, it was worse.
It wasn’t long after Covid hit that Disney’s woes started. Not only did revenue go down by over 22%, but their theme parks were also completely shut down. Mulan failed woefully at the box office and was marred by controversy. Disney plus had to be launched earlier than expected but later than competitors who already had the market.
The Multiverse of Madness
Disney has released so many movies, it can be hard to keep up with all of them. Some storylines get intertwined in our minds and some characters are so similar in appearance that we get them mixed up. For example, the Mayor of Zootopia is a lion that looks like Mufasa from Lion King and all Disney princesses wear a ball gown differentiated only by color.
If you are trying to make a Disney-themed gift basket, you should get help from a Disney enthusiast. Otherwise, you might end up with Princess Anna from Frozen, the Mayor of Zootopia, while trying to create a Beauty and the Beast basket. But again, she is a beauty, and he is a beast.
Mary Poppins Gets Weirder as We Grow Older
You’d think a parent would be interested in a background check when hiring a nanny but not Mr. Banks from Disney’s Mary Poppins. A random nanny arrives one evening, coming in on the east wind with an umbrella and the parents are like ‘yeah, that checks out, take care of our children’!
She nonetheless enraptured the Banks children by granting them entry to her magical world. She could fly, talk to animals and astrological bodies, and change the seasons. The children learn magic and follow her on numerous magical adventures. We are glad it all worked out in the end because things could have gone south very fast.
That Zootopia Ice Cream Better Be Vegan
Zootopia is entertaining, intriguing, and contains a surprising plot twist that will mesmerize the young, old, and anyone in between. The movie isn’t just a perfect blend of playful and serious, but it also possesses a feminist streak and an anti-racism undercurrent. It is just an overall excellent story with a phenomenal cast.
Zootopia may have been packed with the more obvious funny moments, but it also has plenty of more subtle jokes for fans to catch. Why do the animals love ice cream and popsicles? Do they realize that milk is gotten from dairy animals? Are they comfortable drinking their neighbor’s processed milk or is the ice cream vegan?
The Ultimate Sibling Rivalry
Disney taught us that sibling love trumps all. While Disney sought to teach the unbreakable bond of sisters, fans saw the ultimate sibling rivalry. First Elsa was designed to be way prettier than Anna. With her platinum blonde hair, her purple makeup, the long braid, and her glamorous dress, she was a modern beauty.
Anna’s dress is boring compared to Elsa’s. She is carefree, bubbly, a little tomboyish, awkward, and sometimes late. Anna is not the average princess with a ladylike manner. Elsa on the other hand is calm, graceful, and regal. She sang the catchiest song of the movie and was eventually crowned queen. Also, the sales of her merchandise are much more popular!
Bruno Was Just an Introvert
Introverts prefer to spend time by themselves and must force themselves to go out and be social sometimes. Occasionally they want to be left alone, other times they want to be included, but most of the time they want to be included with the option to be left alone. But introverts are different on the internet.
The web is a great place for them to express themselves without having to interact with people, this allows them to be as menacing or as kind as they choose. But in real life being around people just exhausts them and they would rather be on their beds, snacking in their pajamas.
A Modern Cinderella Story
Cinderella is one of the most well-loved and iconic Disney princesses of all time. With the help of her animal friends and fairy godmother, she married the prince and escaped the evil stepmother and sisters. She started the Disney ‘happily ever after’ trend, but have you ever wondered what her name means?
‘Cinder’ is a small piece of partly burned coal or wood. Cinderella had no bed to lie upon, so she had to rest on the hearth among the cinders. She always looked dusty and dirty, hence she was named Cinderella. Her name perfectly described her circumstances, but she should have changed it when she married the prince.
The King and Queen Are Still at Sea
Elsa and Anna’s parents leave on a voyage, saying that they’ll be back in two weeks. While the audience is explicitly shown that the ship has sunk, Anna and Elsa learn that their parents have died during the song “Do You Want to Build A Snowman?” which Anna sings as she walks the castle while Elsa is locked in her room.
But it seems like losing her parents at such a young age left Princess Elsa in denial. Later in the movie, she states that everyone she ever loved is within the palace walls. But that is not true, her parents are at the bottom of the ocean. That statement would only be true if she never loved her parents!
