You: In Norse mythology the god Odin’s son, Baldur, was prophesied to die, so his mother Frigg, the goddess of love, went to all nature in the world for an oath so they wouldn’t harm him, and she used mistletoe to resurrect Baldur from the dead.

So Frigg made the plant a symbol of love and vowed to kiss anyone who passed under it. In 18th century England, men were obligated to kiss any woman standing on the mistletoe, if they refused it was bad luck. After they kissed they had to pluck a berry from it, and once they are all gone the plant has no more power to command kisses.
