This household item was an everyday kitchen staple but for some reason it was an extra big hit during Christmas, I bet your grandparents always had one of these out every year.

Most of us associate nut crackers with Xmas, especially with all the films, plays, music and dolls that came with it.

We always took great delight in cracking the outshells with this festive contraption over and over again, even if we never wanted to eat the actual contents of the nut.

Now, the nutcracker has changed from functional to an ornamental traditional Christmas figurine that is part of the festive decor.
