The History of Black Friday

So Who Was The First To Use The Phrase?

In the 1950’s in Philadelphia, Thanksgiving weekend was utter chaos. With the Navy vs. Army annual football game set in Philly each year, which drew enormous crowds from all over the country, days before the event. In that time, they would by heaps of clothes, home goods, food, and various gift items at the wide variety of retail locations in Philly.

So Who Was The First To Use The Phrase?

Even in such a big city, and long before the Black Friday we know comes each year, there were severe issues with local health and safety, not to mention streets clogged to bursting with people. The added crime from shoplifters and the like didn’t help matters. By the 1960’s, the chaos led locals to call the “invasion” Black Friday.
